Every year we gather with 4 other families for the kids and the adults to get away and unplug from the world. We rented the large Wisteria home and this smaller surf shack to accommodate everyone.
The surf shack was great. Two couples with small children stayed here. It is accross the street from the beach and the outdoor activities but that was perfect for the occupants. Three houses share the grassy area, the sport court, and the kayaks. When the kids weren't in the water exploring on the kayaks, looking for clams and sand dollars on the shore during low tide, they made good use of the open grass area everyday. Between soccer games, volleyball games (we brought our own net), and tag they were beat... which made us parents happy as they now outnumber us.
The house is perfect. A small kitchen to hold snacks and a comfortable living area. The beds were comfy and spacious enough for suitcases and toddler stuff. We did all the major food prep in the main house so this area was just used for sleeping at night and napping kids.
The kayaks were such fun for the kids and adults a like. They were on them all day. The life jackets were a little dated but they had all the sizes for all the kids. It was plenty for use. The waterfront is not sandy. It's a mix of rocks, broken seashells, dirt, and algae (depending on where the tide is at that time). Flip flops will not cut it. The kids brought their Chaco sandals and they worked perfectly.
Kathryn was easy to connect with and contact when I had questions and she was super helpful. It was a great experience and we can't wait to go back.
