Additional Information about Location and Surroundings

The house is located in the eastern part of Madeira, in the village of Água de Pena, offering a breathtaking view over the Atlantic Ocean and the offshore island group Ilhas Desertas.

Água de Pena belongs to the municipality of Machico, the first capital of Madeira, which can be reached in less than 10 minutes by car. The same applies to Santa Cruz.

The island’s capital, Funchal, is approximately 23 km away and can be reached in about 30 minutes, depending on traffic.

The airport is located discreetly and far below the property, about 15 minutes away. As a result, there is virtually no noise disturbance. The house is situated at the end of a narrow valley, where falcons can often be seen flying in the morning and evening.

The House – Size and Features

The house offers approximately 144 m² of living space spread over two floors.

On the ground floor, you will find a bright living area with an open-plan kitchen, kitchen island, perfect for social gatherings. This area also includes a dining table and a spacious, covered terrace that opens onto the garden with a barbecue area and outdoor kitchen. A comfortable double sun lounger invites you to relax.

On the upper floor, there are two modern en-suite bedrooms with access to a balcony. Each bedroom features a comfortable double bed and built-in wardrobes with sliding doors. Both bedrooms have a private bathroom with a walk-in shower and hairdryer.

The house can accommodate up to 4 guests.

The hosts, Delia and Arjen, speak German, English, Dutch, Swiss German, Portuguese, and Italian.

Upon request, you can be picked up directly from the airport and personally introduced to the house and its surroundings.

Seasons

The high season runs from April 1 to October 31 (excluding special offers).
All other periods are considered low season.

Electric Mobility

Guests with electric vehicles will find numerous charging options across Madeira, including at gas stations, parking garages, and public parking areas.
We recommend asking your car rental provider for a charging card.

We enjoyed our recent stay. The home was clean and comfortable. While I had trouble navigating the main shower the other shower was lovely. The host was attentive and even met us at the home to go over the place and answer any questions we had. The views of the airport was an unexpected surprise. I would stay here again.

Beautiful house with view of the coast. The house has everything you might need and more. Kind and friendly host that welcomed us and showed us around. Easy access to main road, parking included on premises. This house is best to rent if you plan to rent a car, otherwise it might be cumbersome to get around as busses don’t go too often around that area, otherwise it is great. Highly recommend if you are staying on the east side of Madeira.

We had such an amazing stay here! We cannot say enough about how wonderful the property and the owners are. The views are stunning and the home is extremely comfortable. The house sits on a stunning property with ocean views from almost every window. The property is close to many restaurants, beaches, and the grocery store. Per the hosts recommendation, we rented a vehicle and that made it very easy to navigate to and around the house. The property itself has many amenities including washer and dryer, well-stocked kitchen, and hair dryer. The hosts are extremely communicative and welcoming. They were very helpful in managing a situation where our flights were cancelled and were easily reachable at any time with questions. They also had many great suggestions for things to do around the island as well. We would absolutely recommend staying here to everyone! We sincerely hope we can return again soon!

Born in the Netherlands, lived and worked 29 years in beautiful Switzerland and since 9 years on Madeira. I love meeting people from all over the world to experience different cultures and different ways of thinking.
I like to play with our dogs, we have 3 small ones and one big one.
I love fishing, nature, searching edible mushrooms,enjoying the silence and the smell of the forest.
And most Important is that I can enjoy all this, together with my lovely portugese wife who is from this beautiful island 🏝 😍

It offers a lot, like good restaurants, close to a supermarket and to Machico and Santa Cruz. As the house is at a dead end street it is very quiet and you have total privacy/discretion. It is not too hot , rarely exceeding 28 degree and away from tourism.. Sofar all our guests, our friends from Switzerland, Serbia, The Netherlands, Canada, Czech, Spain, Germany and Argentina and evenNepal, loved the place and we received a lot of compliments for which i thank them all wholeheartedly.

The quiet location combined with the superb view over the Atlantic, the peace, a place for our guests offering them privacy. Yet close to a supermarket, 5 minutes by car, and many good restaurants. And for those who like golf, the 27 holes golf course of Santo da Serra is only 15 minutes away.
