This is a newly constructed home near the very top of the Mountain High community in Mineral Bluff, GA, which is a development of around 450 acres of beautiful mountain property right on the border of North Carolina and Georgia. Our address is 212 Kittatinny Drive. Take Mountain High Drive to the top / end, and then take the only road from there -- Mountain High Trail -- to Kittatinny and follow it around to the house (first house on Kittatinny, on right side of road). Walk the neighborhood roads and get some great excercise in a safe, serene, upscale mountain community.
Basic House Rules (Sorry, I have to…): You are the responsible renter of the Property and you agree to be an occupant of the Property for the entire duration of the rental. You must be 25 years or older to rent our cabin. All other occupants will be family members, friends, other responsible adults over 21, or accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.
Occupancy is limited to registered guests only; max occupancy is 14. Occupancy by more than the registered guests/more than 14 will result in the immediate termination of your rental and forfeiture of all payments and deposits.
Quiet Hours between 10pm - 8am. We are blessed with good neighbors who are part-time residents, and we enforce a good neighbor policy that is part of the HOA here in Mountain High. Please treat the Property with the same care you would use with your own residence and leave it in the same condition it was in when you arrived. You and your Occupants agree to conduct yourselves throughout your stay in a manner that is respectful of and not disruptive to neighbors, traffic flow, or the community, that is not in violation of any local, state or federal laws, and that will not prompt complaints to us from police, neighbors, or neighborhood or homeowner associations. Noise audible outside the Property (including music or loud conversation) is prohibited between 10 p.m. and 8 a.m. During the time before the quiet hours, please keep the outdoor music down to a relatively low level.
To prevent theft of or damage to furnishings or your personal property, you agree to close and lock doors and windows when you are not present at the Property and upon check-out.
No parties, no fireworks, adult entertainment events, no ATVs, no discharging of firearms on the property.
Use of the property shall not be such as to place the property in danger of damage or to disturb and/or offend neighbors.
No smoking of any substance (cigarettes, weed, cigars, pipes, etc.) or vaping.
This house has a septic tank, so please do not flush anything but toilet paper.
Please keep an eye on children outside, as the cliff past the railing is very steep.
Please don’t move the indoor furniture or décor. Please do not move any indoor furniture outside or any outdoor furniture or fixtures inside the cabin.
Please place all trash in trash bins (extra trash bags are under sink). When indoor trash receptacle is full, store full bags in outside trash receptacle in the driveway next to the house and make sure it locks. All trash must be bagged (no loose garbage in the trash receptacle).
Please clean all food and drink spills immediately. Be aware that food and drink spills on carpet and furnishing constitute damage to the property (and not normal wear and tear).
Please do not wear high heels, spiked heels, golf cleats, or other abrasive footwear on wooden floors.
FIREPLACES – SAFETY & USAGE. Luxe Escape has an indoor wood-burning fireplace and an outdoor gas fireplace.
Gas Fireplaces: All of the indoor fireplaces, and the outdoor fireplaces on the private decks of the master bedrooms on the first and second floor, are gas (not wood burning). The gas fireplaces are all controlled by wall timer switches located on the wall or (for outdoor fireplaces) posts near the fireplaces. Do NOT put any wood or anything else at all in the gas fireplaces (no cooking marshmallows, etc.) as this is not safe or healthy and can damage the gas fire log system. It is solely for your passive enjoyment (and a bit of heat) and should not be used for any purpose.
Wood Burning Fireplaces: The two fireplaces on the top / main deck, and the fireplace on the floor directly below the main deck, are wood burning. We pay to have wood delivered periodically to the house but if for any reason you need more, there is a shop in Mineral Bluff across from the Post Office that has wood to purchase 24x7 (just leave money in their box if after hours). Do NOT try to turn on the gas to the wood burning fireplace. We do not provide a gas key and do not allow use of the gas start system by guests for safety reasons. Dollar General in Mineral Bluff carries starter logs for super easy fire starting if there are no starter logs at the house. Make sure the flue damper is open, but please make sure before use that the damper is open so the smoke will go up the chimney. If you are not sure, feel for a cool draft inside the firebox before you start or even hold the fireplace lighter inside the fireplace before adding the wood or starter logs to see if the flame is drawn up slightly into the chimney. Before lighting, you can also use your mobile phone to take a picture up into the chimney to see if the damper (located a couple feet up into the chimney is open. If not open, there is a switch on either the left or the top (possibly both) and switching the lever of the right switch will open the damper. Again, confirm it is open before starting the fire. If after you light the fire, smoke is not going up into the chimney and is flowing out through the front of the fireplace, check the lever on the left side (possibly top) to ensure the flue is open. If not, flip the metal switch and confirm it is open prior to starting the fire. Start with a small fire in order to heat the chimney correctly. If you start too big, the smoke will not draw upward. Use kindling to start your fire. DO NOT USE LIGHTER FLUID. Using small twigs from around the cabin exterior can also help get your fire going. Another option is a fire starter or fire log (Duraflame type). Put the fire log on the bottom and place 1 or 2 small pieces on top. Light the paper on the log. Be patient, it may take a while for the logs to catch fire and start burning on their own.
Once a fire is established, add 1 log at a time as needed. By slowly adding wood, this will help with drying out any damp wood and keep flames going continuously and make sure to keep flames visible below the fireplace opening.
IMPORTANT - Please do not start a fire if you plan to leave the cabin within a 3 hour time frame. The fire needs to be out completely before your departure. It’s extremely dangerous to leave a fire burning at the cabin unattended. Also, you’ll need to remember to put out the fire before going to sleep. Once the fire is out, use your wrought iron utensils to separate the logs to different sides of the fireplace and close the screen or glass doors tightly. Do not close the damper until the fire and coals are completely cooled the next morning.
IMPORTANT - when you remove ashes from the fireplace, DO NOT dump ashes into the woods, as this could start a fire even a day or two later. Please do not put ashes in the garbage, ashes should be put in the copper bucket and stored there for a day or more. They can be safely discarded the following day by adding a bit of water to ensure no flame and then dumping the ashes in the ditch across the road from the driveway.
Firetable on lowest deck: On the lowest deck, next to the hot tub, is a narrow rectangular firetable. It is powered by a timer switch on the post / wall behind the outdoor sofa chair that sits behind the firetable. Simply push the button to turn the firetable on for the time you intend to enjoy it (starts at 10 minutes). It will take around 1 minute or so to light, but it will light when you push the switch. It sometimes will go out after a few minutes but will automatically re-light. It may do that 2 or 3 times but should ultimately stay on until the timer ends. You should not need to turn the gas key on the side of the firetable, unless a former guest has mistakenly turned the key to the off position.
SPA / WELLNESS AMENITIES
Sauna: The Sauna is located in the lowest floor “spa bathroom.” It is very easy to operate using the Harvia digital control pad on the wall near the shower. Just touch the digital control pad on the power icon and it will automatically come on with a 1 hour timer. It will take around 15 minutes to heat up to the set temperature (178 degrees F) and will then be ready for use. You may use the container on the floor to store water to pour onto the hot rocks on the heater using the large scoop that sits on top of the water bucket. The water is optional, but one or 2 dradles will add humidity into the sauna room. Sit on the upper level bench to get the full max temperature, or the lower bench for less intense heat. The sauna will automatically power off at the end of the 1 hour timer.
Cold Plunge: The Pod cold plunge is located on the lower deck just outside the “spa bathroom” door. The black box next to it is the cooler, and it should display the water temperature. If for some reason the display is not on, push a button next to the display and see if it comes on. If not, you may need to push the white button on the electrical plug that is plugged into the outdoor wall outlet next to the Pod.
