Fabulous Location near Shipwreck Beach and Grand Hyatt Resort

We purchased this lovely ground floor garden view condo in April, 2013. This condominium has a large master bedroom with A/C. The master bedroom has an an en-suite master bath with a walk in shower. Our home also has a half bath for your convenience. Our spacious lanai is an excellent place to kick back and enjoy your morning coffee or romantic dinner. Poipu Sands is located directly next to the ocean near famous Shipwreck Beach and adjacent to the Kauai Grand Hyatt Resort and Spa. The Grand Hyatt resort offers lush tropical grounds, casual and fine dining as well as shops and entertainment. Shipwreck Beach, located in front of the Hyatt is usually sunny and less crowded than other Poipu Beaches. This is a beautiful beach to take a romantic evening stroll and is often used as the backdrop for wedding photos. Poipu Sands is located within the upscale Poipu Kai resort. The Poipu Kai development is located on 70 acres and extends from Poipu Beach to Shipwreck Beach. The resort is connected by a green belt that has beautiful garden paths winding through it. The Kiahuna Golf Course and the Poipu Bay Golf Course are both in very near proximity. The Poipu Kai tennis and pickleball club is just a short walk from our unit. You may also enjoy a game of tennis on Poipu Sands private tennis court. Poipu Sands is the only complex within Poipu Kai that offers a private tennis court. Poipu Sands also offers a large seasonally heated private swimming pool. You also have access to an additional pool and hot tub just a short walk down the green belt path. Poipu Beach which has been ranked as one of the top beaches in the United States is just a short 10 minute walk from our unit along the pleasant Poipu Kai green belt. This beach has both a shallow area which is excellent for swimming with small children and a great snorkeling area as well. This is a favorite spot to see napping endangered monk seals and Hawaiian sea turtles. Old Koloa Town located less than five miles away is the site of the island's first sugar mill. Historic Old Koloa Town is a hub of picturesque shops, eateries, gift and souvenir emporiums. There are a variety of Luaus throughout Kauai including one at the Grand Hyatt Resort right next door. You may also enjoy a horse back ride along the Mahaulepu Coast line, renting a stand up paddle board to enjoy the ocean surf or dining at the large variety of nearby restaurants ranging from family fare to upscale and romantic. Take a lovely evening stroll along the green belt to Poipu Beach to enjoy the sunset then come home to enjoy dinner on your very own quiet and comfortable lanai.

This condo is the perfect location for a getaway to Kauai in the Poipu area. Walkable to two beaches and fabulous restaurants at the Hyatt next door. It was exceptionally clean and provided every amenity one needs and more. Beach chairs, umbrella coolers, etc. We will definitely be back.

Excellent location — an easy walk to several beaches. Spacious living space and bedroom. Loved the lanai — a great spot to watch the sun rise and relax after a day of exploring. Greatly appreciated the AC in the bedroom. Host was very responsive and directed us towards a local concierge who helped us book several activities during our stay.

Great stay. Property was close to everything and next to the Grand Hyatt. The condo is well stocked and has everything one may need, and the owners are fabulous communicators. The air conditioner in the bedroom was great! I am sensitive to smells, and the condo did have a very strong musty smell. This could be easily remedied with an air purifier or a nice candle. We were out exploring more than we were in the condo and it was the perfect spot to explore the south side of the island. Highly recommend the Beach House for dinner with reservations at sunset.

Really nice place for the two of us to stay. It was pretty hot while we were there, so we missed not having an air conditioner. The location is really good; I just think we are old and kind of partial to the slowness of the north shore. Kathy was wonderful and made everything easy.

A great trip

A beautiful location and a terrific host. Kathy (the owner) was very responsive and accomandated a slightly early check-in since the unit was ready. The condo was very clean and well appointed. All the basics were already there in terms of spices, cooking oil, and every pot, pan, or untensil you could ever need. Beach towels, chairs, umbrella, cooler, all ready for use. I absolutely would recommend this property and this unit specifically to future guests.

Perfect Slice of Heaven, Great Bargain

Outstanding. This unit was exactly as described by our very responsive host Kathy. Immaculate and ready for us at check-in time. All the amenities worked perfectly and easy to figure out especially with Kathy's excellent instructions. No ocean view from the Lanai itself but a ten-foot walk onto the large common area gave us a nice panorama. Easy walk to a very nice pool, and easy walk the opposite direction to hang out at Shipwreck Beach. We had a wonderful time!

Loved this!

We enjoyed everything about this condo. The location is perfect! The only thing had nothing to do with the owner or the condo itself. It is with the cleaners. I don't think they wash the floors. You shouldn't be wearing shoes inside but we found the floors to be so dirty that we had no choice. Hopefully that was just a one time thing. But, we will definitely be back to this condo in the future. The owner was easy to get a hold of and the condo is lovely. We have stayed in a LOT of condos in Hawaii and this is the best one on Kauai that we've stayed. We'll be back!!

Relaxing Stay

Kathy & Bob, This accommodation was perfect in so many ways. The unit was well stocked with initial kitchen supplies, beach equipment and information of local dining options. We enjoyed our hiking in Kokee State Park as well as walks from the unit. Our morning sunrise walks were a great way to start the day. Great location!

This property is central to many popular experiences on the South Shore of Kauai. Check in was easy, communication was wonderful, and the unit itself was immaculate. Great location and condo

This condo is in a great location and we enjoyed our time here. The condo was very clean and exactly as described. It was nice to be close to the ocean but also have access to a beautiful pool area as well. Communication was great with Kathy and she was always very responsive.

Great Location

This ground floor home is adorable. She has thought of everything, Its close to resorts with amazing food. Enjoyed spending our last 3 nights on the south shore. The AC in the bedroom gets the room perfect to fall asleep. I am a light sleeper and needed to get ear plugs so it could be run off and on at night as needed. We were very busy and did not hang out during the day. We used the pool once it was a great cool off at the end of the day.

Location! Location! Location!

We loved this property for its closeness to Shipwreck Beach. Everything that you could think of was supplied by the owner. The only issue I had was operating the TV! The 2 remotes were confusing to this older lady. Following the instructions left by the owner didn't always work, but then who watches that much TV when you are vacationing in paradise. I highly recommend this property!

Our Kauai Condo

The condo was great, fresh and clean. Very comfy furniture, especially the dining room chairs and bed. Loved our walks to Shipwreck Beach. The complex grounds are beautiful, compliments to the gardeners. We had a lovely stay. Thank you!

We have lived in Fairbanks, Alaska for 45 years and have been coming to Hawaii since 1982 to escape our cold, dark winters. We spent several years researching where we wanted our winter getaway to be located. After visiting several places, we choose Poipu, Hawaii because of the consistent weather conditions, the outdoor activities and the friendly people. We absolutely love our home in Kauai and we are excited to share it with you.

We loved Poipu Sands because of all the beautiful green space that surrounds the complex. The feeling that you get at the Sands is one of openness. Poipu Sands sits directly near the beachfront. There is no road between the condos and the ocean.
