Dirty love stains on couch, stains on couch pillows.. bbq pit not usable.. ac busted, dishwasher broke, not 1 minute walk from beach it’s 15 -20 min walk to beach.. no beach view at all … pics show water front but the water you see is a bay that’s about a 10 min walk .. broken lawn chairs.. clothes dryer sounded aweful!!

We're disappointed to hear you didn't enjoy your stay more, Vickie, and we certainly don't want that for any of our guests. However, as respectfully as we can say this, it seems this is a bit dramatic and doesn't properly reflect the condition of the home nor our crew's actions and interactions with you during your stay. While what can be deemed a stain is subjective, the couch is actually quite new and "the tiny stains" you shared with us were actually a result of a bit of discoloration caused by the steam cleaner's cleaning spots. We checked the dishwasher, and it appears to be working as expected. It does like perhaps you were trying to force the latch a bit. While the listing does not promise a 1 min walk to the beach, there is a main beach access point right across the road from this home. On average most guests would say 5-10 min walk. There are both beach and bay views from this home's decks, but by no means is this home beachfront nor is it marketed that way. We're sorry if you were disappointed though, and we do have plenty of homes with direct beachfront locations. However, no surprise, they do rent for quite a bit more per night. As for deck chairs, we literally brought you 4 new Adirondack chairs the first full day of your stay. Most would say that was pretty darn good customer service, as is was the AC company coming out same day you contacted us. We are however sorry for any inconvenience. We do appreciate you allowing us to host you.

Lovely house, close to the beach!

We enjoyed our stay. House was exactly as advertised and very clean. Check-in was incredibly easy and painless. Overall, nice stay!

Relaxing Beach Getaway

Great location. Clean & has essentials (might pack a few baking sheets, blender, etc. if you plan on spending a lot of time in the kitchen). Enjoyed our stay & would visit again. 👍🏻

Easy access to beach

It was easy access to beach but beach isn’t visible from house, upstairs king bed is not a bed and there is not a drainage system for the downstairs shower so mosquitoes were horrifically bad.

Glad you easily accessed the beach and appreciate the feedback. We don't advertise that you can see the beach, rather just the Bay and Gulf water from the decks. Sorry to hear you were disappointed. Not sure what wasn't a bed about the bed? As for the outdoor shower, we're at sea level, so outdoor showers don't typically have drains. Not sure what we can do about those pesky mosquitoes (the city does spray regularly), they do love our coastal location at times especially after rains.

This was a great location & perfect for our group

very cute home, the beds were super comfy, but the foam mattress toppers were a little hot to sleep on. Also the sheets on the upstairs king kept coming off because they were too small. More patio chairs would be nice & kitchen knives for cutting. Other than those minor things, it was great. we would definitely stay again. Oh & the neighbors were very nice!

Overall Good Vacation Home

Home was a good distance from beach, easily walkable. Had trouble sleeping in upstairs full-size bed because of its squeakiness. We found a couple of miscellaneous items from previous renters. Some issues with the cleanliness of the dishes/silverware. I recommend shower curtains be updated as they were starting to rust.

Glad you experienced a good beach vacation! Sorry to hear you had trouble with the bed. We haven't had anyone mention squeaking, but we'll have our maintenance team try to shore it up and also the owner has added an extra mattress topper since your stay for greater comfort! Unfortunately with the Village of Surfside's water, it can cause some discoloration of items including dishware and certainly shower curtains in short order. However, I've passed your feedback along to this home's field manager. She takes clean very seriously!

Surfside Beach

The house was very cute. There did need to be more outside furniture. There were Three decks and a total of two chairs. The house sleeps 8 but seating inside was sparse. There were only four of us and we spent minimal time inside so it wasn’t a problem. We were a three minute walk to the beach. It was super cute and we enjoyed our stay there. We did have a problem getting the upper deck doors open but we received a response from the management within minutes.

Teacher Girls Weekend

We were cautious about coming due to hurricane Beryl having just hit the area. Management told us all was well with the property and told us to come on. We felt we should have been updated more from the company on the condition of the area of Surfside so we could have been more prepared. We had to do a lot of research on our own to know what we were coming into. The house was in good shape and pretty clean. Our only complaint was that we didn’t know there was a boil water in effect and this was never communicated with us. Overall the experience was great and we had a good time.

Our team worked hard to get this place all set for your stay and appreciate you noting that. Unfortunately, we can only control what we can control, and in this case, the house not the community at large. That said, this is an incredibly resilient community and much has already been accomplished since you were here. As for a boil notice, respectfully, we proactively recommend to all guests to bring their own water to drink and cook with in multiple spots regardless of boil notice or time, and in fact, we had you initial that. Sounds like you might have missed that. Again, we're so glad you time was well-enjoyed and would love to have you back!

Don’t stay here

This property is ok location. Neighborhood is good. Upon arrival deck had cigarette butts and dirt pile. Trash dumpster was completely full. When we called about it upon arrival(Thursday) they said it would be picked up Monday and to just put trash beside it. Kitchen pots and pans are not worthy for a garage sale. Coffee pot is rusted terrible as is stove top and outside of refrigerator. Fan in master bed is in bad need of replacement. Smoke alarms went off when we turned on dryer. We called about them twice and were never repaired, they did change batteries but that did not fix the problem.To top it off we forgot fresh fish in freezer and they were unwilling to ship it back although we offered to pay. Poor customer service.

Overall, we did not enjoy our stay and would not choose to book this property again. The “clean and comfortable” description was very misleading based on the condition of the home. We submitted this same exact feedback to the Management Company as well.We encountered several issues throughout our stay, including:The gate did not open and close properlyRusted appliances were immediately noticeableThe kitchen lacked basic items (no cookie sheet), and there was hair wrapped around silverware in the drawerThe home was advertised with a bathtub, but there was not one availableThe family room TV had no remote, and another remote was missing batteriesBoth upstairs beds were extremely squeaky and uncomfortableNo bedding was provided for the pull-out bedFurniture was broken and uncomfortableWe saw roaches in the kitchen/hallway the first morningBoth bathrooms had moldy, unpleasant shower curtainsStained/dirty headboard in main floor bedroom. Family room TV instructions in binder are outdated; not the same TV. There was a ceiling leak our first night there. Although the ceiling leak was addressed while we were there, we did not hear from someone until the next morning to arrange their matainance person taking a look. All of these inconveniences made the stay uncomfortable and did not reflect the quality that was advertised.

Thank you for allowing us to host your island stay. We’re disappointed to hear the home didn’t meet your expectations. For clarity, the only concern reported during your stay was the ceiling leak at 9:30am. Our maintenance manager responded promptly and was there and had the home fully inspected by 12:13pm that same day. He was unable to replicate an active issue. He ran water in sink and shower in upstairs bathroom and couldn’t recreate the issue. He suspected when taking showers a significant amount of water was being splashed onto the floor. However, he asked that you report back to our guest service team if it’s leaking again. No additional concerns were mentioned at that time or during your stay, which of course, limited our ability to address anything further while you were there. We do wish the other items had been brought to our attention during your stay, as many could have been resolved quickly by our crew. This home is also priced as a more budget-friendly beach option. Guests seeking a more updated or luxury experience may prefer a higher-tier property. We do appreciate you staying with us and wish you well in your future travels.

Great time and a great home!!

Our group comes for the annual Go Topless event in Surfside each year. This home was plenty large for our group of 5 (2 couples and a single). The beds were comfy and plenty of space in each of the bedrooms to spread out our long weekend suitcases. This home is convenient to local restaurants and sits on a quiet street. It is the first time we have rented with 979, but it will not be our last!!

Vacy on SandPebble Beach in Freeport, Tx

Overall, the place is very nice, and location is very good. (15-minute walk to the beach which is also available by car. Street was very peaceful.) Well supplied except the pots and pans are sub-standard. If you plan to cook, may prefer to bring your own pans. Third bedroom is small but would work well for family arrangement. A few nice restaurants within a few miles. Not busy or crowded like Galveston--more peaceful. Management very helpful. Thanks.

Great house!

We loved everything. I do wish that we had a table with chairs because it was hard for 8 of to sit all together. We only had 4 stools. All in all everything was nice!

Cute place with potential

Getting the rental was an involved process thatade me feel safe about the quality of the renters they allow. The check in process was seamless and worked perfectly. They area was great. On the downside, it appeared that the place had not been rented in quite awhile. The A/C vents all had large amounts of dust to the pint to where it was also stuck to the ceiling. The A/C filter is in plain view and was way past due for a change. The toilets had not been flushed in quite a while, and the water in them was stagnant and left residue growing in them. There were also several baby German cockroaches especially in the dishwasher, in the kitchen, and the living room area. I sent an email to the property manager, but have not heard back that they will be addressing any of these issues.

For starters, thank you for staying with us and noting what worked well and not so well for you and your group. As for responding to your email you sent AFTER your stay, we are confused. Kristi did respond, in fact in less than 24 hours, and also addressed each item you mentioned thoroughly. If the review response would allow us to include an image, we would gladly include it. AC filters are replaced no less than monthly on a schedule. We also provide 5 extra filters in the home, so guests who are sensitive may easily swap. We are in a salty, humid and sandy environment, you open the door and all enter in. Just a product of the environment. The Village of Surfside water is poor and is known to have a color and sometimes a funky scent, especially noticeable during peak season (thus the standing water in toilets color and staining) We even share this info proactively with guests in multiple spots. Lastly, as for the cockroaches, they also love our warm and humid location and thus why all our homes are on regular pest control. Unfortunately. we found out German cockroaches are transferred in guest luggage and the place has since been professionally treated for this specifically. All issues have been addressed. Thank you.

Do not rent from 979 rentals

Our experience was horrible. The neighbors who live around the rental beach house were very unwelcoming and RUDE. Just like the manager steve who we rented from. Very rude. Told us this property wasn’t meant to be a rental and the neighbors don’t like that. So the neighbors were very hateful to myself & my family on our stay. The manager did nothing but make it horrible. Called our cell phones and treated us as we were kids. We even checked out a day early because the disrespect was so bad. I will NEVER rent from 979 rentals ever again. The property was beautiful and exactly what we were looking for, just not worth it to have to deal with Karen’s our whole trip.

Our experience with you all as Guests was not ideal either. Steven was indeed direct with you after receiving 4 different serious complaints from the neighbors about your 25 people in an out of the house for 2 days, you all parking your vehicles all over the street and on their lawns, and also about the trash you all were leaving strewn about. You heard incorrectly, this home is not an EVENT center. It is a vacation rental home. Upon being contacted you all acted as though the rules and common decency for others was not something you cared about. We are not supportive of Guests who feel they can interrupt the lives of everyone around them and then blame them when they become agitated by your actions.

Everything was so nice. The beds were so comfortable and it was nice to come back to the house and rest in great bedding after hours at the beach in the sun!!!

Very nice and clean!

We had a great stay! The property was clean and felt new. We drove to the beach but you could walk if you don’t have a lot to haul. My only minor complaint was that there was no patio furniture. The pictures showed some chairs on the deck at least but there was none. Wasn’t a big deal but would have been nice for dining alfresco.
