My husband joined me on a trip to Manhattan for a conference, and during our research we discovered Bay Shore. The combination of a charming downtown and easy access to Fire Island by ferry immediately caught our attention—and it did not disappoint.The only thing I would do differently next time is rent a car. While this VRBO is conveniently located near downtown and just a short Uber or taxi ride away, those transportation costs add up quickly. If you do need rides, I recommend using the local taxi service (David's Taxi) rather than Uber.During our stay, we ate at Whalers, Bar Lucy, and Nicky's—the latter was our favorite meal of the trip. The downtown area in Bay Shore is absolutely adorable, with great shops, restaurants, and a welcoming atmosphere.We were also encouraged to visit Babylon, the neighboring town, which we did. Looking back, taking the train would have been the easiest option. While Babylon was nice, we actually preferred the shops and overall atmosphere in Bay Shore.Overall, this VRBO was clean, comfortable, affordable, and a great home base for exploring everything Bay Shore and the surrounding area have to offer. We would happily stay here again.
