I’m not sure where to begin. On the morning of check-in, I received both a phone call and text saying the cleaning person had a medical emergency and the home would not be ready until later. I texted the host asking for an updated check-in time since that was how we had been communicating. After several hours with no update, I texted again and was told a message had been sent through the VRBO app saying the property was ready. Since all prior communication had been by phone and text, I found that confusing.Once we arrived, we discovered we were not supposed to touch the thermostat. There was a note instructing guests not to adjust it because the host controlled it remotely. The temperature fluctuated from 68 to 75, making the home alternately too cold and too warm.The property also had several maintenance issues, including cracked outlets, poorly repaired fixtures, and sink issues. Everyone in our group ended up with bug bites, and I saw the largest cockroach I’ve ever encountered inside the home. The refrigerator’s ice maker and water dispenser did not work, and around midnight it began making an extremely loud noise that startled everyone before eventually stopping.The listing also advertised a coffee maker, but there was no working coffee maker, no coffee, no sugar, or creamer. When I asked the host if there was any coffee available, I was told to go to Leopold’s Ice Cream instead.To the host’s credit, they were always responsive and apologized whenever I raised
