A true getaway

The property is up on a hill over looking Como. Lovely small town with wonderful people and restaurants. The funicular takes you up from Como. Easy way to arrive. Our host met us and took us around the house and let us know she was also available if needed. We would go back.

Not as described

The furnishing are very worn and threadbare in this property. Everything was very clean. This property is almost impossible to access if you have a car. It was difficult to locate and a nightmare trying to drive to it. If you don't have a vehicle, this would be OK. We had many day driving excursions planned so we elected not to stay here. I understand no refund because they held it open for our dates. What I don't understand is not refunding the "taxes" collected in cash. Host Greta has been promising to send it, claimed to send it 3 weeks ago and nothing. Now she is not even bothering to reply.

For a different lodging experience choose this 1920 stately villa, sited in a majestic garden, above the city of Como with sweping views of the lake and city below. Our upper level apartment had a huge terrace with a swing and a patio dining set, with a fridge but no TV. Who needs one when you are a few mintes away from a funicular that takes you in a few minutes to the lake, downtown Como? The villa is 100 years old, with the original decorations, windows and doors, very high ceilings, marble floors and some of fhe original furniture. You will take a set of stone steps up to the funicular exit or another one down to the parking pad in the garden. Speaking of garden: it's not inlcuded in the booking, so you can't take a blanket outside and sun yourself but it is majestic to behold: a terraced lanscape in the side of the hill with old growth trees and stone steps up and down. While we were surprised when we entered the property we are happy we chose it for our stay in Como.

Wunderbar zum Entspannen

Pros: Der Blick auf den See und - im Frühling, wenn die Luft noch klar ist - weit darüber hinaus ist unfassbar schön. Die Lage ist ruhig, die beiden Balkone (1 sehr groß, 1 klein) sind ein Glücksfall. Die Betten sind bequem, die Zimmer gut abdunkelbar, wenn man das möchte. Das Appartement ist nichts für Leute, die alles super modern haben möchten. Passt also für uns. Küche und Esszimmer (im gleichen Raum) sind klasse und laden zum Verweilen ein. Cons: Das grüne Bad müsste dringend umgebaut werden
