The den is what you weren't expecting. Not a living room — a proper den with exposed wood beams, a stone fireplace, built-in shelving running floor to ceiling on both sides of the television. Behind the sectional: a wet bar with a wine fridge. By night two, no one's leaving this room voluntarily. The board game comes out. Someone refills everyone's glass without being asked. The beach was great, but this is where the trip actually happens.
The kitchen is the kind that makes cooking feel like a reasonable idea. Marble countertops and a restaurant's refrigerator deep enough for a full week from Winn-Dixie or the Golden Isles farmers market. There is a kitchen island with seating for four. The dining room has a chandelier and gallery wall. Dinner at home gives dinner out a real run for its money, here.
That said, dinner out is just a four-minute walk from the front door. The Crab Trap and Crab Daddy's are two blocks south — pick your side of the rivalry or go to both. Barrier Island Brewing is five minutes if someone needs a local beer before the sun goes down. You leave the car. You wander. You come back later than you planned.
The beach is four minutes the other way. When you're back, the outdoor shower is right off the back door. Drop the towels, rinse off, and you're home. The dog is welcome. The yard is fenced. He already knows.
