Christmas 2024

It's a lovely home that easily accommodated our multi generational family. The kitchen is recently remodeled and has more supplies than expected. A listing of supplies would have been helpful. There are large soup pots, cookie sheets, pie and cake pans, pretty much anything you would hope to find. There's a sledding hill behind the property. There weren't sleds or saucers provided but fortunately we brought our own. The living room could use a larger chandelier. The ceiling is dark wood and the room needs more light. The four thermostats are also complicated for a rental. The shuttle that stops at the bottom of the driveway is very convenient. We had a wonderful stay and would stay here again.

Excellent; good, and fair near Northstar

Our family of 4 generations, 9 persons, stayed for 11 nights and found the house to be just the right size and fabulously well equiped for a family of cooks....The excellent. The house was clean, but not to a very high standard, for instance the caroets were dirty sbd the upholstery had residual odors....The good. Communicatikn wuth the manager is awful. The manager did not return calls, had no idea how the house was equiped so we brought cooking equipment and supplies that were unnecessary, which completely obfiscated the benefit of the owner:s effort to outfit the house. There is slso a fair amount of unfinished and deferred maintenance.... the poor.

Great location & clean. Not going to wow you

Pros: the house itself was clean, kitchen is well-stocked and updated, lots of space, shuttle to Northstar that comes to front door is very convenient. Cons: while the two en-suite bedrooms in upper levels are nice the entire bottom floor (where other 3 bedrooms are) is pretty bleak - very dark, sparsely lit/furnished/decorated, musty smell. The old day bed and bunk beds are not anything anyone would choose to sleep on. (Two of our teens slept upstairs on sofas instead.) The few spare blankets in the house smelled musty. Outside of the kitchen, everything is the bare minimum - as few towels, pillows, blankets, etc as you can get away with, cheapest TP you can buy, ancient washer/dryer, everything dated and worn and a little sad. It served it’s purpose but definitely feels like a rental, nothing more. A little sprucing up would go a long way in this house.

Great Thanksgiving

Rating Details: The property manager was fantastic and very responsive. The property was very clean, better than what the pictures show with fantastic layout for large family or family of 2 or 3. The location was perfect if you want something close to the village but also secluded with privacy. Right across from the golf course. I definitely recommend this location. Reviewer Comments: We enjoyed Thanksgiving with two families and kids. Ample space for everyone with tv's, wifi, kitchen and great place to go for a hike/walk next to the golf course. I will rent this place again.

Big Home in Northstar

Large home with good layout. A well stocked kitchen and location is nice. Be prepared for very little communication with the property manager (they could care less) and a 5th bedroom that has a daybed that is sagging. It’s really. 4 bed Family room couches need replacing. We didn’t sit in family room as the deck was our hangout.

the house is in a great location and the shuttle bus service to NorthStar is fantastic. we were 7 adults and I don't think this house would be very comfortable with more than 8. two bedrooms are small and one is a sofa bed in a room off the kitchen. the two master suites are GREAT.

Perfect home for a family vacaction

This warm & cozy house was ideal for our family of 10 for the Thanksgiving long weekend. It is very nicely furnished with comfortable bedding, luxurious towels, and a very well equpped kitchen. Nice to have lots of bedrooms and bathrooms so everyone has their own spot. The house was very clean and had everything we needed. The location is great too with easy shuttle access to the village. We look forward to staying here again.

Communication with the propeety management was helpful and efficient. We had 3 couples and 1 almost 2 yr old with us, the home had plenty of entertaining space. The disappointment waa the back yard area is a high hill which I couldnt tell from the photos so it made it alittle difficult to take our young grandson out to explore with his dump truck. But the older kids that visited from another rental had a blast climbing. We also didn't have room to set up the horse shoe game which is must for this family. We didnt want to ruin the nice vegetation surrounding to home. But this didnt stop us from enjoying out time at this wonderful Northstar Rental. Thank You!

As it is multi storied, it has a nice privacy factor when housing various families. Everyone was pleased. The kitchen was well stocked with dishes, pans, small appliances...everything we needed for making dinner for a large group. It is a home we would recommend and a home we will request if we rent at Northstar again.

The house was clean and very comfortable and was well suited to accommodate out two families. The availability of the great Recreation Center and close proximity of the golf course made it a perfect destination vacation. But the added extra is being so close to Lake Tahoe and the beauty of the mountains. Fantastic time for all of us.

But from the experience my family and I had, the problems noted were minor. This property was wonderful, had plenty of space, had excellent shuttle and rec room amenities. Shuttle was more than nice. Not as convenient as ski-in ski-out, but still awesome and way more cost effective than ski in ski out. Will definitely use again for big family gatherings.

We felt the kitchen really lacking - knives were terrible and had to have a guest bring some up- not many dishes, especially for a Thanksgiving. Master bedroom main light was out and downstairs bedroom bathroom had a big issue with shower temp. There weren't pillow cases for some pillows. The furniture in living room is very very worn. We aren't very picky, but when you pay money you want the basics-wouldn't go back to this place. But still had fun!

Wedding Headquarters at its best!

It was a fantastic place allowing privacy for each of several groupings of family members. The house was equipped with kitchen gadgets of every fashion allowing us to create some culinary masterpieces. Lots of baths allowed for no bottlenecks during final wedding preparations. Lovely area and the house seems to be well maintained and managed. A lost dog appeared at the house and security was there in minutes to save it from the many coyotes who roam the area. An awesome stay that added to a storybook wedding.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The Basque Lodge was perfect for our two families that stayed there. Very well kept and comfortable. There were places for everyone to enjoy some privacy as well as getting together for meals and fun time. The NPOA REC Center was wonderful, we never realized how enjoyable North Star could be in the summer. We all had a wonderful time.

Rated it 5 star... reluctantly, because we would like to stay there again and now others will know about this property as well. :) :)

Overall great for 12 people

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Everything was great except for 3 things. In the kitchen they had a garbage can the size that I would put in a bathroom. For 12 people that obviously didn't work so we ended up using the big can in the garage. The shower next to the kitchen did not get hot. We were told there would be enough towels for each person staying and there were not. Thankfully I brought a few extra.

A Great Family Getaway

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The Basque Lodge comfortably fit 4 families for our stay at Northstar. We were very pleased with the house and the amenities, and the proximity to the mountain with the shuttle service is very convenient.
