Cheryl, we are glad you and your friends found PEC enjoyable, and feel sorry that your stay at our property did not end up adding positively to your weekend. Our staff strives to keep our property at the highest standard for our guests, as evidenced by their rapid response to your raising this issue. Unfortunately in this situation there was some property damage that occurred. When damages occur due to normal wear and tear, or failure of a component in the house, we obviously assume full responsibility. We also have to ask people to be accountable when one of our guest’s actions causes an issue. In this case there was a water leak that over several hours caused damage to the ceiling below. When our staff and plumber responded to this problem they found the hand spray unit to be source of the water. So the issue of concern here is did the hand spray fail and leak of it’s own accord, or was this caused by a guest not using the unit properly? The plumber found the hand spray to be in good working function. Additionally there have been no leaks seen before this situation developed, or after your visit. Based on this we have to assume the source of the leak was due to guest error, and ask that your party take responsibility for the repairs. Please take into consideration the 120 + Five Star reviews I have earned (after serving 300 + groups over the past 6 years. I have had only 3 issues with guests who have adamantly disagreed with me retaining the damage deposit and you are one of them. Fortunately vrbo / homeaway has an adjudication process for this exact situation. A review of the issue presented by you and by me is currently underway.
