Oh - how I needed that restfulness
Arrived Thurs afternoon and the host's son met us and showed us around the entire property and answered all our questions. We had his cell phone number so we could call if we needed help.
The house looks a little old from the outside, but it's clean and the furnishings, lighting, flooring, decorations and layout are fabulous. I had the room overlooking the bluff and out to the ocean. There's a sofa facing the big picture window, with a small gas heater that looks like a wood stove. The bed was super comfy. Big walk-in closet and a door direct to outside, with an on-suite bathroom.
All the others in our group of 10+ were quite happy with their rooms as well. Two are smallish, but comfortable and the master suite is awesomely huge, with a great big jacuzzi tub. The hall bathroom has a 5' deep soaker tub.
The gardens are wonderful, with blooms galore, ferns, cypress trees sprawling, water lilies, cyclamen, etc. So relaxing and peaceful. The walk down to the cove is accessible to our party that included people in their mid-70's, but I wouldn't recommend it for someone with mobility issues. However, it's an experience to be on the shore with the waves crashing as the creek empties itself into the ocean. We found lots of interesting driftwood and shells. The children who visited us there were quite entertained by the cove as well.
The kitchen was also great, and I loved the sunroom. Altogether a trip that I will remember forever. I have more to say but I'm out of characters.
