Pros: The location of the condo is convenient to Pier Park, grocery stores and restaurants. The upper level of the home has been updated nicely, including both upstairs bathrooms. The bathrooms and kitchen were clean.
Cons: The condo was hot when we arrived and we noticed that the thermostat would not go below 71 degrees. We turned it all the way down, but in the middle of the night the upstairs was still around 80 degrees. Neither of my kids slept, even with the fan on and no sheets on the bed. I called the property manager the next morning and asked if we could get the code to turn the thermostat down at night, so that the upstairs temperature could be controlled more effectively. They contacted the homeowner and the homeowner said no. My five year old actually slept on the very uncomfortable pull-out couch downstairs for a few nights to escape the heat, but my toddler wouldn't, so he sweated all night. We bought fans, but they just blew hot air around. We actually tried to find another condo to stay in, but it was the weekend before Memorial Day and there were no vacancies. It ruined our vacation to have two overly-tired children when the fix was so simple.
There are other minor issues that would otherwise not be worth mentioning if not for the air. When we first arrived, we tried to go out on the deck and the sliding glass door handle fell off onto the floor. Maintenance brought washers and tools over to the house so that my husband could fix it because there were no technicians available and we needed to be able to lock the door at night. The furniture is very stained and smells mildewy. The upper deck has rotting boards and does not feel stable.
We would not recommend this home to anyone who can't sleep in 80 degree temperatures, particularly small children. I'm sure the owners have had to deal with irresponsible renters who froze the unit because they left the doors open with the air on, but fixing the thermostat to 71 degrees will not prevent that. It only makes the responsible renters uncomfortable.
