Absolutely wonderful stay. Our host was very kind and helpful. He even gave us recommendations about nearby places. Everything was clean and well kept. Perfect quiet and private place for my husband and I to stay. Would definitely book here again sometime in the near by future .

Loved my stay here! It's such an adorable little apartment, you can tell it was designed by an artist. The kitchen is extremely well stocked with amazing huge countertops I still miss. Shower is kind of funky with no curtain or door, you want to turn the pressure on very low so the room doesn't get soaked. Parking next to the garage was a breeze, it's a super walkable safe area. I ran into the host a few times when my food was delivered to their door and he couldn't be friendlier! I stayed here for work and my commute was so easy getting to 163. You can walk to Balboa Park, the amazing farmers market is just down the road, tons of food and shops and bars around. The windows are great, there's pretty much whatever you need stocked in the apt. I brought my kitty and she loved the windows and staircase! No issues getting in the door or anything. Comfy furniture, great lighting, unique little spot. I highly recommend for a solo trip or a couple. It's a great area for dog walks too and feels very private. Alley can be a little loud in the mornings with construction down the way and trash pickup, but didn't bother me since I was up for work anyway. I was a woman traveling solo and never felt slightly unsafe walking alone at night in the area! Apt was sparkling clean upon arrival and there were plenty of supplies to keep up. No weird list of housekeeper duties on my way out either!

Perfect getaway!

Hashi House is special, you can tell that as soon as you walk in. The layout, the decor, the art and design are well thought out. The bed and pillows were extra comfy and the large tub was especially nice to relax in after a day of exploring. We wanted for nothing there and after two nights, were sad to leave. The owner, Bob, is especially kind and accommodating. It was lovely to have our privacy but to also put a face to the name of who we were renting from during our chats in passing. The area itself is prime- walking distance to restaurants and shops galore and in a very safe area- we walked both at night and during the day with no issue. The best part was having the dedicated parking space. That’s hard to come by sometimes so this made the choice to choose Hashi House a no brainer. We hope to come back again someday and have already told both our parents that THIS is the spot they should rent if they can when they come to visit. 10/10!!

SD Visit

We enjoyed our stay very much. The rental has some unique but interesting features. I would rate it a 5 but it could use some simple maintenance. The closet door is loose and difficult to work and the cabinet latches sometimes are difficult to use. Bob was very helpful showing us our error in opening the door when we arrived.

Cozy spot

As someone who grew up in San Diego, Hillcrest is a wonderful neighborhood. Walkable with tons of food and drink options nearby. Bob’s service could not have been better for the few minor issues. Quick access to the freeway and very centralized to all of SD. My family was very satisfied.

Perfect Hillcrest Stay

Everything was perfect, and Bob and the place lived up to all of the previous perfect reviews. So much thought has been given to comfort, cleanliness, and ease. This was probably my best stay in the area and I hope to stay here when I visit again.

Perfect getaway

Bob is an awesome host! Great communication! Soo many wonderful places to eat/drink within walking distance. The Hashihouse is very private and comfortable.

Great location!

What a great spot! Comfy bed. Had a few questions during my stay and they were promptly answered! Thankful for the parking spot - came in handy. Will book again in the future!

Relaxing place, close to buses, grocery, dining, clubs

This is our second time staying here, which should tell you something already. Bob has a nice little place here. The beauty of it for us is that we don't feel like we need to rent a car to enjoy San Diego. We walk 2 blocks to the bus stops and we're off. Locally, there are plenty of good restaurants, and for things like breakfast, we just grab stuff at the nearby Ralphs, all within walking distance. This will probably continue to be our first choice each time we come back to SD!

First time in San Diego

The place was perfect, the owner was extremely nice. It was well stocked if you fogot anything it was there for you. Close to restaurants i literally did not drive longer than 8 minutes for food. Highly recommend this place

Just perfect

This is in an great neighborhood. Very quiet. The bed was great, the tub was great! Very clean and tastefully decorated. Will most defiantly stay again if we are in the area. Would recommend!

Spacious Getaway in Heart of Hillcrest

Stayed for 3 nights in August to celebrate my husband's birthday. Space is built over a garage in the back of owners property. This is one of the best VRBO or ABnB properties we have ever stayed. Place is spacious and well designed. We didnt cook but there is a full, well stocked kitchen. Separate space for sleeping which can be closed off. It also cools nicely in the evenings making it great for sleeping and is very quiet. Able to walk to all Hillcrest has to offer and easy access to highways. Would love to come back.

Great place and awesome host.

This is a great place to stay if you're visiting San Diego. The property is clean and private. The bed is super comfortable. The host is very responsive and accommodating. Our flight got delayed and he allowed us to extend our checkout, which gave us much more options on how to spend our day. I highly recommend this VRBO.

Retired from law enforcement/military, recently widowed. We built the space for family and friends, but have opened our doors for occasional renters. The business started off as a side-job, but since being retirement, a full-time adventure.
The rental was built in 2004; however, we constantly update. I reside in the main, Victorian- era house built in 1908 along with our two small dogs, Lola & Cinnabun.

Our accommodations are based on what we would expect when traveling; comfort, secure, location and affordable. Being in the heart of San Diego's neighborhood, Hillcrest, we are centrally located from downtown, Mission Valley, Balboa Park/Zoo, Sea World and the beaches. Along with a festive night-life and word-class restaurants, the neighborhood hosts numerous marathons like the Rock N Roll marathon and Race for the Cure. As well as, the San Diego Pride Parade. Hillcrest is one of the gems of San Diego where the eclectic architecture merge with an inviting diverse culture and atmosphere. This diversity can be seen in the County's largest Farmer's Market that has is within walking distance.

The fully equipped studio is designed with an open concept. The full bath and kitchen are designed smartly to maximize storage, natural lighting and function. The sleeping area boasts a king size bed and sliding partitions to give the option of seclusion from the rest of the space. Bamboo flooring, heat-on-demand water heater, smart appliances and solar make the space eco-friendly. The full bath has a spa-like feel with a large corner Jacuzzi tub and shower, granite counter, Italian porcelain tiles and a smooth river rock flooring.
Location is everything: We are located in the heart of San Diego's Hillcrest neighborhood. Steps away from exquisite dining, night life and shopping. A one mile jaunt to the world famous San Diego Zoo and Balboa Park which hosts various museums, an Organ Pavilion, period architecture, street performers and local artisans.
A short drive to local beaches, harbor excursions and sights, the Padre's Petco Park, Sea Word and SDCCU Stadium (formally Qualcom Stadium).
Tijuana MX and La Jolla are about 15 minutes away (opposite directions); while Leggoland, the Wild Animal Park, and the mountains are about 1 hour away.
