We have long held ties to the Outer Banks, and for years rented beach properties for our own OBX vacations. Having spent time in every OBX area, we feel a special affinity for Hatteras Island and the southern portion of the Outer Banks, as it remains much the same as it was when we first began visiting many years ago. We are both busy professionals and our time at the beach to decompress is treasured. Gary for years chased big game fish in his boats off the Outer Banks from the ports of Oregon Inlet and Hatteras. Now with Avon conveniently located, he loves to drive to the Hatteras docks at 4:00 and see what the fleet brought in, maybe following up with dinner while in Hatteras Village. Mary loves and enjoys the beach from sunup to sunset and we both enjoy being on the OBX all times of the year. Owning this home is the culmination of our dream for years to own a beach property. Enjoying the fresh seafood, shooting images of the natural beauty, enjoying every sunrise and sunset over the waters of the ocean and sound and sharing with friends and family all mean something special to us. Having this home in Avon to share with our guests allows us the opportunity to provide a comfortable and embracing place from which you can enjoy all the Outer Banks has to offer.
With our purchase in 2015, we began updating the home and have added several new pieces of outdoor furniture, a porch swing on the lower deck, a new grill, a new hot tub and deck, a new fish cleaning station, a new heat pump for fall and winter getaways, new bed linens, a new 49" flat screen TV in the living area, a new electric fireplace for the cooler months, new living room furniture, fresh paint, and many new decorative items. We completed a second phase of replacing windows, siding and exterior paint in 2019. We also replaced the rear deck. In 2018, we replaced the kitchen cabinets, counters, bar top, and flooring on the entire upper level and resurfaced the upper deck.
