Very nice, clean house. Great location

Beds were great and the added 55 inch TV's in each room were nice. Kitchen was good sized. Owner was great to deal with. Only downfall was the bathroom was small but didn't really seem to cause any problems. Would highly recommend and will stay again next year if available.

NO SLEEP - Train noise ALL NIGHT LONG

The house is okay, clean and beds are comfortable. IF YOU WANT TO SLEEP AT NIGHT.... BIG TROUBLE. Trains run 1-2 blocks away and run from dark until daylight, blowing loud horns and ringing bells, and slamming cars together. LOUD noise 20 minutes out of EVERY hour ALL night long. BASICALLY 2 PEOPLE GOT ZERO SLEEP FOR 3 DAYS. After being out hiking and caving and then trying to get a decent meal, we would try to get rest - BUT THE TRAINS MADE THAT IMPOSSIBLE. Had to go buy ear plugs and sleep with them the last night - barely helped... ;( location, location, location...

Hi Robert, Thank you for your feedback and disappointed to hear that you had trouble sleeping because of train and seeing just 1 star rating. Is it possible that you left the windows open? We have hosted over a hundred guests (aggregated) and your stands out as the least starred while over 90% are 5stars in another website. Even the last guest that left a review in this site mentioning that trains were not a bother at all as they barely even heard them. Please do note that other areas of carlsbad would have been crowded, run down and dogs would have barked throughout day and night, so this location is indeed unbeatable. Basic but Clean Place to Sleep

Older home in a somewhat rundown neighborhood. Overall, clean with pretty good beds, linens and towels. Kitchen equipment and kitchen cleanliness need some work. About 35 minutes from Carlsbad NP. If you just need a place to sleep while you exploring, it's ok. You won't want to just hang around.

Good location for a family

The advertisement was accurate. Those who said the train was loud I don’t agree. Note that you have to go outside to do wash. My constructive tip would be to organize the cabinets better and provide some smaller Tupperware for leftovers. Very close to the nice beach area on the river and an easy drive to the caverns.

Graduation Success

The whole process was very easy, the house was great, very clean and very well stocked. There were couple of things on the outside and only because I'm picky that were minor cosmetic things that took away from the pretty view of the house, but overall excellent and we would rent the property again next time we are back in New Mexico which will be in about a year!

Great place to stay

Enjoyed the house, beds didn't look like they were going to be comfortable, but they were great. Only suggestions would be a couch instead of futon and trash can in laundry room. Will definitely use each time I come to Carlsbad to see family. Thanks

Great house and value in Carlsbad!

This house was a great place to stay in Carlsbad. The king size beds in each bedroom were so nice! We also appreciated the power strip by each bedside - lots of outlets to charge devices. The location was good. It was nice to be so close to Albertson's grocery store and there was a park down the street. There are train tracks nearby, although none of us (including kids) heard the trains during our stay. The only con of the house were the futons in the living room. We watched a movie and found them to be uncomfortable. We did not use the futons for sleeping, and the beds were very comfortable. We had a couple of issues upon arrival. The caretaker responded immediately and was very helpful. We would definitely stay in this property again and recommend it to other travelers.

Hi Erin, Thank you for your wonderful response and glad you enjoyed staying at our place! Glad you and kids enjoyed the beds and the home. The reason we have futons in living room is sometimes we get large groups and these are so much more comfortable than squeaky/weakly padded pull out sofa couches no matter the cost. Lot of folks working in the fields need a good rest and these futons are comfortable hard to beat for the folks that don't get to sleep in the nice king size beds in the bedrooms ! :) We will certainly keep looking for replacements. Hope you will visit us again! We will be happyt to host you! -Dev
