Our 5-night stay at Barrier Dunes Unit 497 was highly disappointing. The condo's condition was entirely unacceptable, outdated compared to listing photos, and unsafe for a family.Major Issues:Safety Hazards: The back deck is rotting, spongy, and covered in exposed screws; my 4-year-old son cut his foot open upon arrival. Black mold covered the back patio door glass.Pests & Maintenance: Found a 1.5-inch cockroach on the bedroom dresser. The drywall above doors is peeling and hanging down, and the master bedroom door doesn't latch.Broken Amenities: The living room TV was broken (maintenance took an hour to arrive and failed to fix it). The highly rusted & dirty outdoor grill kept shutting off and ran out of propane, ruining 150 worth of steaks and our evening.Poor Cleanliness & Supplies: The sleeper sofa was stained, full of debris, missing bedding, musty, and the sectional sections wouldn't stay connected. The kitchen lacked basic essentials (no scissors or oven mitts/hot pads, but 10 pairs of tongs).Inaccessable Loft: The upper loft bedroom was shockingly hard to get up to. The ladder was at least 10ft high and made of slick wood with 0 slope. It seemed very unsafe for our kids to get up and down, especially at night if they had to use the restroom. A fall down to the tile floor would be an ER visit. Also, good luck getting luggage up there. In conclusion, this condo was not fit or safe for a family.
