Unit needs a complete makeover

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: KS is great unit is horrible. No AC, ceiling leaks fixed by someone who has no idea how to fix and paint, unit appears to have never been upgraded, wall paper peeling, drapes in living area will not provide privacy, kitchen faucet leaks, fans in kitchen above sink and in toilet area strange looking, yellow growth. Bottomline don't rent this unit or drop price to rock bottom, friends came over and rented D3D for much less and unit is newly redone and beautiful. Sorry for the comments but we were less than happy with this unit and i would guess never updated. Go look at it and at D3D worlds apart. But thanks for quick response and replacement of dish washer. Clarify below property was great, this unit is horrible. Regan

Shabby but beautiful location

I've stayed at Kahana Sunset countless times since the mid 80s, got married on site in 97, but hadn't been back for about 10 years. I still love the property but I do have to say the interior of B3B is pretty worn and shabby. The cabinets are in bad shape as is the flooring in the bathroom. When we arrived the unit was extremely hot and the musty/moldy odor was almost overpowering. After opening all of the louvers the temperature was tolerable by evening and after a couple of days the smell was barely detectable. We spent a lot of time at the Keone Nui room and had a very enjoyable stay.

LOVE Kahana Sunset but pick a different unit

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We have been to Kahana Sunset three times and were sneaking away for an inexpensive vacation just the two of us. We picked this condo despite the reviews thinking, “how bad could it be?” The location is amazing! It’s in the middle of the building so not many people walk by it getting to their unit. The bed was comfy and the bedroom was fairly clean. The ceiling fans were nice and an extra fan was provided in the bedroom, which helped the fact that there is no air conditioning.This unit is probably unrentable where we come from, though. It’s pretty dirty, not just old. The kitchen smells of mildew and rancid dirty dish water. The bathroom smelled of urine. Shelves were grimy in the kitchen and bathroom, the two exhaust fans were inoperable, the dishwasher was filled with dirty water. The list goes on and on. I will spend more money on a different unit next time.

Great location

So the apartment is old dated and not very clean. They have stopped to invest in it a long time ago. The broom is unusable, the kitchen bin broken and the vacuum from another age. When we arrived there were no linens for the sofa bed nor beach towels. That being said, the hotline is very responsive and the view from the terrasse incredible. The outside -pool and garden- is very clean. The beach is nice and other beautiful beaches are 5mn drive. The price for this location is perfect if you are okay to accept some imperfections in the bathroom and kitchen! We would come again !

Reviewer Comments: After spending 25 years at the Kahana Sunset I expected way better treatment from you, Sullivan Properties! We were so disappointed in the unit we were forced to stay in (traded with our daughter due to the health and physical safety of our grandchildren, ) we and around 40 of the other people in our group are searching for a property that respects the loyalty and amount of money we have or will bring to a property. We were there for our 42 wedding Anniversary and had to spend two days and $100.00 of our own money trying to clean the unit enough to be able to even use it. B3B should never be rented out, it should be removed from the rental pool, it is filthy, it smells like must and mold, the drawers fall out, their is so much filth, dirt, cobwebs and grime in the shower, kitchen cabinets , cabinets I can’t even explain how bad it is! We were not offered any compensation for our time or the money we spent on cleaners, candles, Lysol, clorox. I spent two weeks feeling dirty and not able to even cook in the unit. Sad, mad and disappointed that you ruined our anniversary and family vacation.

Could see both the beach and swimming pool from our condo. Condo B3B is well worn, expecially the kitchen and bath. But it is clean and comfortable. We sat outside on the patio protected by beautiful shrubs. Coffee for first morning is supplied, but no coffee filter! My daughters unit had filters left by last renter, so luckily I could have coffee without going to the store. I don't move without coffee! My grandchildren spent hours in the ocean and pool. Turtles could be seen from the beach and overlooking the rocks. We will come back. The Napali market has restaurants and nice grocery store.

This condo is a dump!

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: I did let Sullivan know my thoughts on this condo and they said they would let the owners know. To start with, this condo has not been maintained or updated since it was built in 1973. I'm not exaggerating. The wallpaper is peeling off of the walls, the artwork is faded, there is mold in the bathtub, the cabinets are broken, the oven was (badly) replaced with a smaller one, the dishwasher would shut off randomly and did a terrible job washing dishes, the ice maker worked occasionally, there are stains on the ceiling, a badly patched area where there must have been substantial water damage, but MOST IMPORTANT, there is NO air conditioning. Three floor fans, three ceiling fans and two exhaust fans that worked halfway and the temp never dropped below 79*. There is a smell of sewage in the bathroom and the plumbing is not reliable, so there is a much bigger issue in the entire complex. The kitchen is minimally furnished, and that is with very cheap items. Since this is a downstairs unit, listening to the upstairs neighbors rearrange furniture and play basketball gets a bit old, especially at 5am and midnight. Do yourself a favor, get a different unit.

Great location at a budget price

This condo unit is accurately described as outdated but was fully functional for our needs and had a fabulous location within the complex. It was wonderful to hear the ocean all night and be able to walk right out to the small beach area, beautiful grounds, and pool from our front door. Walking distance to shopping area just up the hill and other attractions are short drive away unless you're doing longer day trips. My 3 year old loved it as did us parents!!!

DISGUSTING DUMP/PIT

Reviewer Comments: FILTHY cockroach infested, uncleaned kitchen sink, bathroom and floors refrigerator dirty something spilled by previous renter not cleaned up.. UNBELIEVABLY disgusting curtains on patio door. Place SMELLED awful. Woman we spoke to said it's vintage. Vintage is a time period decor, NOT a filthy rental that is a hole.Deck slider window seal broken thus afogged up view. Cannot believe SULLIVAN would take pride in renting this dump. When contacted, and Steve came to see it, we got the opinion he really didn't care. I would think Sullivan Properties would want to take pride in their rentals. WE will discourage friends and family and anyone we know who plans to rent from Sullivan NOT TO. ON LINE PICTURES VERY DECEIVING. A DISGUSTING PIT.

Needs updating and paint.

This unit is in a good location, however, it needs to be updated and some paint and deep cleaning. Fans need to be cleaned and dust from them cleaned off the ceiling. Popcorn on the ceiling needs to be removed and wallpaper removed and the whole unit needs paint. Burners on the stove are slanted. Cabinets in the kitchen were broken and peeling. Rust on the refrigerator needs to be removed. Carpets need cleaning and window coverings are old. TV's are too small and difficult to operate. Furniture is nice and comfortable. Wallpaper should be removed and walls painted. There was duck tape on the handle of the shower door ? What do two fans in the kitchen and the bathroom do?? Rust and mold are in the walls. A/C should be installed.

Multi generation trip

The vacation was great. We rented 2 condos. One was updated nicely, and the 1 bedroom needed it. But we knew this ahead of going. Enjoyed that it is a small, private complex.

Staying at Kahana Sunset was wonderful , however Unit 3B3 itself probably needs a major face lift, in my opinion. Although a fantastic location in the Kahana Sunset complex, the unit is in need of a deep cleaning, some repairs & basic modernization to equal the location in overall satisfaction for staying/renting it. I would stay again knowing the conditions ahead of time, but was a bit surprised that kitchen drawers were broken, wall paper was peeling, shower clogged easily. Maybe management could suggest some home improvements to owner. Towels (bath & pool) left by Sullivan Property Mngmnt were the highlight of the interior accommodations. Otherwise we were underwhelmed with the condos appointments. Thank you for great correspondence, fast/easy check in & out. Location, views, grounds were outstanding!!

Fantastic location

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This condo is in a perfect location - quiet complex, beach within steps, nice grocery store very close, beautiful views, just the right size. All was as advertised with a super easy check in and out process. Would definitely recommend!

Discount Condo at Beautiful Location

B3B is very outdated without A/C and compared to prices of condos at Kahana Sunset, is the least expensive. So ultimately you get what you pay for. The cons, we were left with sour smelling linens for the pullout couch. Which we didn’t make a big ‘stink’ about because we washed them the next day. The place smelled old and a little mildewy and the bath faucet only worked as a shower. We were able to air out the unit, and covered up the smell with dryer sheets we placed throughout the unit. Pros, the washer and dryer worked nicely, there’s a lot of room in the living room and bedroom. The TVs were small but had nice access to streaming services. The property was well maintained a with a cute herb garden, lemon and papaya trees. Other tenants mentioned seeing turtles while snorkeling off the beach. Overall we made it work, the property is amazing the grounds crew and other tenants were friendly. We enjoyed the pool, sunsets and the access to the beach. The kitchen has everything you’ll need to prepare meals, upon arrival they had coffee but the coffee maker requires coffee filters. So don’t forget to bring those and most of the basics you’ll need for an extended stay minus towels and bedding. I would stay at Kahana Sunset again. But would pay the extra to stay in a nicer suite with A/C.
