I'm always concerned when a guest has an experience that is less than perfect. It rarely happens as is evident from our reviews. I feel the need to address some of the false statements above. Tabitha is correct in one respect. The VRBO instructions that are automatically sent out several days in advance were incorrect. I will certainly be more conscious of this. Every room of the house has accurate wifi instructions on a standing placard. I often change the key code for the safety of our guests. I did, in fact, send her the correct key code and updated instructions the DAY BEFORE their check in at 3:24pm and even gave them the opportunity to check in earlier the following day, even though check-in is typically 4pm. Tabitha denies receiving this but It is part of the same VRBO dialogue thread as all of our communications. Tabitha never passed on to her friend the information that was provided to her. When I was contacted, I reached out to her friend in less than 30 minutes (ages to respond). I did not tell her that Tabitha had been given the information. Her friend was cheerful and unphased and said she was just grabbing a bite and thanked me. Tabitha then continued to contact me multiple times a day, every day throughout their stay looking for a $200 refund for her trouble. I told her I would have certainly considered it, had she not been given the information the day before. Instead, I refunded her $50 which I had hoped she would pass onto her friend to cover her meal and the 30 minutes she did not have access. I have been offering vacation homes on VRBO since 2008. With more than 150 reviews, I have managed to maintain a 4.9 rating or higher on all my properties. This was one of my most difficult renters to correspond with as every dialogue was fraught with hyperbole and melodrama on her part. While the guests did leave the house in perfect condition, I would not feel comfortable renting to Tabitha again. I hope our future guests with read our many other glowing reviews and give this one the weighted consideration it deserves.
