This is a beautiful property in the country with amazing Tuscan views. The house is clean and charming. The hosts were terrific and very helpful. The nearby small town of Deruta is an absolute gem. We loved it here and would love to go back.

Wonderful stay in Castelleone

Peaceful, comfortable, beautiful views, loved staying in this country house. Communication and very specific directions to the house were needed before i left for this trip so i could print a hardcopy and use my phone for navigation. Local friend came to our rescue and was very helpful!

Beautiful Hilltop location

This is a lovely house on top of a hill, with great views. The house is well equipped and the view from the livingroom of the sunset was simply incredible! Communications with the owner and property manager were very straightforward . The directions to the house were very clear, but just to be sure we were met by the property manager who guided us straight to the door of the house. This was a great location for us to explore the region a bit. Be sure to visit the old castle area in nearby Casteliogne!

Fantastic stay in Deruta!

We had a wonderful time at Laura's fabulous home. We were a group of seven friends who love to be in the outdoors, and the house acted as a perfect base to explore the surrounding nature and Umbra. The house is very functional, has everything to cook, and we felt at ease with the place and the house's location. Laura is a fantastic host, very responsive to our demands for places to visit or for specific home related requests. She was so nice and friendly that we even invited her for dinner and had a great time. We felt as though we had known each other for a long time. We all strongly recommend this house, and we intend to return next year.

Ferien in Umbrien

Zwei Wochen Erholung pur

Landhaus in traumhafter Alleinlage

Not what we expected

The property was very rustic but a better description would be “run down”. We thought we were staying in a lovely villa type home in the vineyards but it turned out to be a very neglected and out dated guest home in the middle of nowhere. The one redeeming aspect was the wonderful views, but had we known that it was a 20 minute drive to civilization, I don’t think we would have picked this place. The home looks like it is close to a village or stores on the home away website but it is seriously WAY out there. Other frustrating things about the property: there were only hand towels and maybe two very small bath towels for our family of six. When I texted the owner, she said that she was out of the country and someone would bring towels over, but no one did, so we ended up using bedsheets to dry off after showering. My college age sons are over 6’ tall so the little bath towels and bidet towels were a sad joke. Yes, bidet towels were provided for our showers—Old towels that were small and didn’t smell nice. There was a storm the first night and a tree fell across the road and if we hadn’t had some strong young adults with us we would have been stuck at the resistance. I was most disappointed by the inaccurate claim that the property had an oven. It DOES NOT have an oven, but a small toaster oven which wouldn’t work to cook a Christmas dinner or a lasagna which we had planned on. We also had to go use a washing machine in town for our clothes because it was old and locked our clothes inside. And it’s not because we couldn’t read the directions become my son lived in Italy for two years and is fluent in Italian. I read many reviews about this property that were all positive, so I’m confused about what went wrong with our stay. I think if the host had been in town, things may have been different and I think if we had stayed in the summer time it might have been a little better. It was cold and drafty and we had to pay extra for the heat and there were no extra blankets. We had to open the windows to try and get fresh air to vent when we made a fire, and several large spiders cane in when we opened the storm windows. There were numerous other creatures in the house and my daughter started naming the crickets and “daddy long leg” spiders in the bathrooms. We would not stay in this home again. It looked so cute in the pictures but it really needs some help: new beds, new linens, cleaner facilities.

Dear Dawna, I'm really sorry that you were not satisfied during your stay in villa Bianconi. I would like to point out that we have done everything possible to make your holiday a pleasant one. Villa Bianconi is 3 kilometres away from Castelleone, the nearest village, and 7 kilometres away from Deruta, a small town famous for its ceramics production. Deruta has many restaurants, supermarkets, cafés, a museum and shops of every kind. Perugia, the capital of Umbria, with a rich cultural live is 25 kilometres away. Deruta and Perugia are connected by a four-lane highway. Deruta and Castelleone are connected by a normal country road. From Castelleone an unpaved, well-maintained road leads to the house. Villa Bianconi is exactly in the same condition as the photos show and I have heard very often from my guests that the house is in a better and more comfortable condition than the photos show. We try to provide everything necessary for a pleasant stay. Even more I regret that you could not open the washing machine. The reason is inscrutable. The washing machine, as I wrote to you in our first e-mail exchange (see attachment: Information about the house), has a security system and must be switched off before opening it. It is still not understandable for me that you did not get along with the system, although I sent you the appropriate instructions again during your stay. The cleaning staff provided you with 16 towels (for six days for six people). The oven in the kitchen is new and exactly adapted to the needs of a holiday apartment. It was also a pity that the communication with you was extremely difficult. You were not reachable by phone at all and you answered my emails very late. When you arrived in Deruta, our friend Alfonso waited for you until 11 pm to drive you to the house and to show you the way and everything around. He waited for you in the next few days and was very surprised that you never went to visit ihm by his place. That would have avoided all problems and that is why it was thought and arranged that way. The Villa Bianconi, as you also emphasize, offers a beautiful panoramic view, and is located in the middle of nature. This special feature makes the house almost unique. We love it and hope that our guests will love and enjoy exactly this quality of the house. That is what we can and want to offer to our guests. A special stay in a beautiful environment.

Villa Bianconi is a magical place--an oasis of calm among the hustle and bustle of everyday life. There is something very special about the property that just let's guests let go and connect with nature. Whether you are interested in doing some writing, painting, spending time with family, chatting over a glass of wine, or baking pizza in the wood-fire oven, taking a bike tour, going for a walk in the forest, reading a book in the sun, or taking a day trip to a beautiful Italian city, Villa Bianconi is the place to spend your next holiday.

The view from the house is extraordinary. You can feel the calming power of nature as soon as you arrive, and everyone that steps foot on the property leaves a different person--more relaxed and in touch with the truth of who they are.

It was love at first sight when we arrived at the property for the first time, 20 years ago. We have since dedicated our time to restoring and renovating the old farmhouse buildings to make them a combination of modern convenience and old world charm.
