We loved this house, and we would stay there again if we come back to Captiva. It had everything a vacationing group could ever need. My husband and I had 4 teenage girls with us, and there was plenty of comfortable space for everyone. The furniture was new, comfortable, clean and sturdy. This was also the best stocked house we have ever stayed in. There was nothing we needed, down to a sewing kit that came in handy when someone's clothes ripped. The house felt luxurious without being stuffy or inappropriate for a beach vacation. We brought a boat and having a private dock was wonderful. We spent every single day out on the water. The garage stocked with bikes, kayaks and paddleboards was also a nice touch. The booking process was great too, very easy. This house is top-notch.
Suggestions: (1) the mosquitos were horrible when we were there in June. You could not sit on the dock or by the BBQ grill without being eaten alive, no matter the time of day. If you have not sprayed lately, you may want to consider doing it often. (2) We arrived just after 5 p.m. on a Saturday. Unfortunately, the only boat ramp on the island (Tween Waters hotel) closed at 5 p.m., and we were not aware that that would be the case. They were very unfriendly and unhelpful about letting us put the boat in the water although it was just after 5 p.m.. We had just driven 10 1/2 hours and were dead tired and just wanted to get the boat in the water and moved to the house's dock. Moreover, the driveway at the house was not large enough to accommodate our truck with boat/trailer attached, and we had no idea where to go or what to do. It is very hard to maneuver the 2 lane narrow road on Captiva with a big truck and boat and trailer, especially if you do not know your way around. We called the local contact person for the house (Dall), and she made some suggestions, but it didn't really solve our issues. You may want to ask future guests if they are bringing a boat and give them some suggestions about where and when they can launch it so they are not in the same predicament we were in.
