Typical day for us: Wake up just before sunrise, open up all the windows and doors, and breath in the fresh morning ocean air. Throw on the swim suit, and and head out to the rancho. Unlock the rancho door, and lift open up the shutters..... more ocean breezes! Grind up some fresh coffee beans and make coffee. Grab a few mangoes from the trees, or the ground (if in season), or some fresh pineapple or papaya from the fridge, and make a plate of fresh cut fruit, or a smoothie in the blender. If you like juicing in the morning, grab some carrots, beet, apple and ginger and whip up some fresh juice. Make sure you take five minutes to stop and watch the sunrise. Sit on the chairs outside the room or in the rancho and enjoy your breakfast. After breakfast, grab some water, your iPod and head out for a walk on the beach. Head to the right, past the mermaid to a beautiful secluded area where the jungle meets the beach, or to the left toward the center of town, still pretty quiet...... you may see a life guard, some beach chairs/umbrellas being set up, a couple of people walking, a dog or two, and a local panga boat going out fishing. I've experienced horses roaming free, dozens of pelicans, macaws, and thousands of butterflies migrating overhead, on the beach. If you keep walking, in about 1.5 miles, you will come to a river mouth, and the beginning of Esterillos Centro, where you might see some surfers, and a huge sand bar, at low tide. While you're walking, leave your stuff on the beach, and take a quick dip to cool off. When you get back to the house, rinse off in the outdoor shower, and jump in the pool, for a few laps, or just a relaxing soak. It's only 8:00AM and you have the rest of the day to experience a new adventure: zip lines, horseback riding, river/crocodile tours, waterfall hike, etc. Get back in time for sunset! Certain times of the year you can watch sunrise/sunset from the same spot on the beach!
