Cedar Cove was amazing. The wooded surroundings isolated us from neighbors, naking us feel like we were in the woods. The beach, paddleboards, kayaks, canoe, rowboat, all these wonderful toys kept us and our kids busy. The water is crystal clear.
As for the house, it met our needs perfectly. With two families with 4 teens from 13 to 15, we were worried about the lack of TV or Wi-Fi. The kids didn't miss it one bit. Spending all day outside on the water or exploring, then coming in at dark (which was after 10pm) and playing poker or UNO was all the entertainment we needed. The screened in porch was very welcome also on the nights when it got a little buggy. The nearby village of Northport was quaint, and had everything we needed, from marina to shops to restaurants, brewery, and bowling alley. We also explored a bit, going to Sutton's Bay, Sleeping Bear Dunes, and even renting a boat and taking it down to Traverse City. But most of our memories were at the house. There was enough room for 4 adults, 4 teens, and our dogs. As a previous commenter noted, the kitchen had not been updated in several years, but it was not dirty. The kids even put on their own version of "Chopped", making several dishes from scratch using only what was available at the house and the local grocery store, including gnocchi, chicken and waffles, a chocolate trifle, and donut holes! There was a full bath upstairs, a half bath down, and an outside shower, which provided more than enough accommodation.
There are no laundry facilities, so make sure you pack enough for your stay. There may be a laundromat in town, but we never needed one. We have stayed in more luxurious and modern houses, but none as relaxing and welcoming as this. We would go back in a heartbeat if it was about 500 miles closer!
