Great place for a family, driveway an issue in the snow

We had a great stay at A Stones Throw. The accommodation is spacious, with everything you might need for your stay, and the hot tub with disco lights and Bluetooth speakers meant apres ski was great fun. This also looks like it would be a great summer rental with plenty of deck space and great access to the lake. The only con was the steep stone driveway which was not treated in advance of our arrival and so we got stuck in on our first morning. I would recommend a 4 wheel drive in the event of any snow or ice.

Great Place to Stay

We booked A Stone's Throw for a long weekend. There were 6 adults and 6 kids. House was perfect size. Huge outdoor decks with ample space. Spent every night with a fire going on the deck. Hot tub was great. Lake access was perfect for fishing. We did not have a boat but we used the dock for fishing. Kitchen was fully stocked. Easy 3 minute drive to Wisp. Smooth check in/out. It was a perfect house for a long relaxing weekend.

Great Property

This property has a great view, nice living spaces, a fully functional kitchen and access to groceries within minutes. I would recommend this spot to anyone interested!

Lovely house

The house was great and very compatible for a large family or multiple families. There were a few little things that needed tending to (broken lamps and bathroom fans, light bulb replacement {unable to locate any in house to change}), no curtain at bathroom window on lower level. Cornhole boards were unusable as well. Nothing that would alter the positive aspects of the location of the house. Overall was a great place to stay.

Nice Weekend but Hot Tub Issue

Overall, we had a nice stay at this property. The inside was very clean, however, when we arrived, the hot tub was green, cold & smelly. I contacted the property manager & someone did arrive VERY quickly. However, it did not get warm enough the 1st night & so we could only use it on the 2nd night. The only other thing I wanted to note is that I booked this property in part because of the decking. It did not occur to me that the decking could be covered with snow in the winter. There was about 1 foot of icy snow on the decks during that particular weekend, so the decks were not usable (too icy to even shovel). I just assumed they would be maintained. Just a heads up for others. There was also a lot of dog poop in the snowy part of the decks, so no one cleaned up after their dog during a prior stay.

Great place, terrible driveway

Great property overall, with the one exception of the driveway. The driveway is very steep and downhill, and your car will get stuck if it snows even a little bit. My group and i spent hours pushing our cars out after it snowed, even though we all had 4-wheel / all-wheel drive vehicles. Aside from that, the property is awesome.

Beautiful Home

Truly enjoyed our stay. Hot tub key was missing which was easy accessible at the office. However we never received the propane tank that was supposed to dropped off at the house. Outside of that mishap we would definitely rent again.

Great Location... Needs maintenance

The house is right on the lake and a lot of deck space. Plenty of beds for 9 single or 12 if doubling up. the house and property need a lot of maintenance and housekeeping. Blankets didn't seem fresh and there was a need for a good vacuuming and sweeping. Outdoor space needed cleaning and most outdoor lights needed replacement. This made grilling outdoors at night difficult.

Great, quiet place

We stayed in late April. WISP and lots of other shops were not open during the week, and the fishing was lousy, but the house was great. Nice and restful. Enjoyed the fireplace and hot tub especially.

Great home and location

We had a great stay here over spring break. We stayed with another family so our party was 4 adults and 5 kids. Location is right down the street from Wisp resort so it’s convenient to everything. Kids loved the bunk room and fooseball table. The whole house was very clean and comfortable. I’d definitely recommend it and stay here again.

A total gem

Our group LOVED staying at A Stones Throw and we plan to rebook our annual trip here again! The location is perfect, close to everything, and being right on the lake was a treat. The house is beautiful and the kitchen supplies pretty much everything you could imagine you'd need. It was rainy so we didn't get to utilize the deck as much as we had hoped. The driveway is steep so having 4wd was a plus since it got a little slick while we were there. The only suggestion would be to mark the fireplaces with direction on which way to turn the knob to open the chimney and how many turns (takes more turns than we were expecting and it got a little smokey before we realized). We know for next time to "just keep turning" :) Thanks for allowing us to experience a fun weekend away!

A weekend at "The Barn"

Eight of us headed to Stone's Throw ready for some R&R! It was early March and the snow came down as expected. A Stone’s Throw has a magnificent view as it backs up to Lake Deep Creek. We decided to pay for the early check-in and have more time to hang out. That extended our time to gather around the table eating, laughing, watching TV, and listening to music and playing card games. Also, there are plenty of board games in A Stone’s Throw to play. There is one snow shovel there; thankfully we bought two so the men shoveled the gas grill out for cooking. Once we settled in, we all hung in the kitchen that connects with the family room, so there is plenty of space to be in one area. Eventually, we were using the lower level and main level throughout the weekend as one of my friends just had to have his PS4. Man, did we do too much eating and drinking! One of the things I took advantage of, the plastic saucer sled! While everyone was hibernating inside, I took a few runs down the hill before heading to Wisp to snow tub. Get out and enough mama nature! As advertised, the driveway is steep. I had no problem getting out Saturday or Sunday with my front wheel drive car. My friend’s rear wheel drive pickup slid around a little on the driveway. We kicked around coming in the summer next year to experience the scenery. We’d tell anyone, A Stone’s Throw is a great spot to stay to enjoy Deep Creek! There are luxuries there like boot dryers that you will find upon arrival. *Wisp is 1 mile down the road. *Kitchen: Gas stove, crock pot, pots, pans, utensils, dinnerware. Bring liquid soap, dishwasher soap plus a dish rag or sponge for cleaning. The Shop ‘N Save grocery store is 5 minutes away. *Bedrooms: 2 w/ double bed, 1 w/ king & day bed, 1 w/ queen & 2 bunk beds *Bathrooms: If you need a tub, the lone tub is on the main level
