When the weather cools: Lake Wedowee is not only spectacular during the spring and summer, but is also a peaceful getaway during the fall and winter months. Cozy up in this authentic log cabin beside either of the indoor gas fireplaces, or venture outdoors enjoy the fire table, grill and comfortable rocking chairs. The changing color of the leaves, hiking, and fishing in the area are all extraordinary during the cooler weather months. In addition, the cabin is decorated for the holidays beginning Thanksgiving weekend through New Year's.
Water in the off season: Alabama Power lowers the water level about 8' starting in early October until late March. It does affect the appearance of the shoreline but we have year-round water so you will always have a waterfront view at our home. While one of our docks remains floating, the walkway to get to the floating dock sits at an angle during some of the winter months.
WIFI: Wedowee is a rural area and internet options are still extremely limited. Please note this home does not have WIFI, but that cell phone connectivity is strong on our side of the lake. As a result, we recommend all guests plan to utilize the hot spot on their cell phone when needing to connect, work, access the internet, etc. Cell phone service/signal continue to be easily accessed from our property/side of the lake.
Beautiful Lake Wedowee spills its pure clean waters across 10,666 acres. Construction of Lake Harris, as it is officially known, began in 1974 and was completed in 1982 as an Alabama Power Company reservoir. Lake Wedowee is blessed with lush landscape along its 272 mile shoreline. The lake is fed by the Tallapoosa River and the Little Tallapoosa River and has a maximum depth of 135 feet. Within those shores are vast recreational opportunities in one of the Southeast's best lakes. State and Federal Conservation Services rank Lake Wedowee among the cleanest lakes in this part of the country.
