Downtown Duluth Loft

My family (Dad, sisters, partners, and adult children) had an enjoyable stay here. The location allows for easy access to many great places in the downtown area making it a great spot if you don't want to drive to local bars, restaurants, cafes, etc. Street parking is not allowed overnight, but the hosts have nearby parking for a vehicle, and there is a parking ramp nearby that isn't too expensive for any extra vehicles. The loft is clean, with 2.5 bathrooms, plenty of seating, games, hot tub, pool table, and a super functional kitchen with plenty of appliances to cover any needs.

Privacy, space, and loft experience

I booked this for my family because it is a large space that allowed my family to all be together instead of getting two or three different hotel rooms. The owners have done a very impressive job in creating a loft experience. Everything is very well laid out and beautifully done. It is obvious that the owners take great pride in the space. Everything within the owners control is positive. Even though it is in a pretty seedy part of town, there is sufficient privacy since you have the entire upper level and the interior stairs from street level leading to the door are entirely private.

Great place

This is a very clean property. Many things to do just in the loft alone. Great location. Tons to do in Duluth. Loved having all the music options on the tv right in the middle of the loft. Very comfortable home. We didnt want to leave.

This property is wonderfully decorated and perfectly located. Many activities are within walking distance which is desirable in a place where parking is at a premium. There is a kitschy shop located below the property and two coffee tables shops close by. The amenities are enough to have something to do without having to leave the property. The kitchen is well stocked and easy to use with items stored on open shelving.We did struggle to get in because the initial contact contained incorrect information. We tried to contact the owners without success. They had “turned their phones off for the holiday weekend.” After digging we found different codes in subsequent messages and were then able to get in. We had two vehicles and a parking space is provided which was great and we were told there was free parking but it is not overnight parking. We used the recommended lot which was 20 per day. Our other issues were that the dart board didn’t work and the floors were dirty is some places.

Great place with comforts of home

We really enjoyed our stay and only wish it didn’t have to end! The place was exactly as pictured. Location was great and check-in simple. We enjoyed the pool table and the kids had fun putting golf balls and playing games. The amenities were excellent. There were plenty of towels, dishes, soap and the toilet paper and paper towels weren’t the crap kind many places provide. It had all the comforts of home. Looking forward to staying here again next time we visit Duluth!

Girls weekend stay

13 girls and I stayed at this loft for our annual girls weekend. It was amazing!! The questions we had were answered quickly and Rachel/Jason were super accommodating. Highly recommend staying here and plan to stay again real soon.

Very walkable, spacious place

As described in listing. Well stocked kitchen and other necessities (plenty of towels for kitchen and bathrooms). Very comfy recliners for relaxing and watching TV. Very walkable location which was great but significant homeless population right outside the property. Didn’t have any issues though and would stay again. Easy check in and check out.

Easter stay in Duluth

A very spacious flat. Lots to do from playing pool, to poker, to watching movies, and playing other games. The whole place is great!! Thanks for the garage parking spot too.

Kitchen well stocked. Beds and pillows luxurious. Nice, relaxing hot tub. Plenty of space for dancing. Fun games, pool table, dart game, ring toss, poker table. Absolutely wonderful place and the art work was mesmerizing.

Friends weekend getaway

Wonderful weekend getaway. This was the perfect space for four couples. The owners were very responsive and the place was spotless. The place had everything you could need. We didn’t even need to leave! We took advantage of the hot tub, dart board, pool table, bag set, putting game, and amazing recliners in the living room. Would definitely stay again.

Really cool place

Really cool place for mid-large sized groups. Very close proximity to restaurants, bars and even a casino. Very clean, lots of fun, good communication with owners.

Amazing loft

This is hands down the coolest property we have ever been to. My boys are 20 and 23 and they've never been more excited about the place we were staying. It has a cool vibe, comfortable furniture, and tons to do just in the house. It's easy to get to places in the city and Minnesota has beautiful lakes and hiking. Absolutely recommend!!

Girls weekend

The property was amazing! Had everything you could need! Very quick to respond if we had a problem (like me not figuring how to lock the door haha!) The only downside was the location. Wasn’t aware that it wasn’t in the best area. We definitely didn’t feel comfortable walking the streets at times. But you can’t control that. Overall we had a blast and loved everything about the loft!

Saved our -40 trip to Duluth!

We loved staying in this massive loft—and all the inside entertainment options it offers saved our trip to Duluth where it ended up being -40 windchill. The even-better-ifs: (1) owners gave me the wrong code to get in the door and were unreachable for about 30 minutes while I tried to keep myself and my toddler warm in the car (2) the loft really smelled of cigarette smoke covered by tons of air fresheners—all of our clothes needed to be washed following our stay (regardless of clean or dirty). Note to parents of small kiddos: while this loft is awesome for lots of play space there are no solid walls to the bedrooms and I would recommend bringing your own plastic kid dishes (everything was glass).

Unwanted Guests and Scammers

*Please Read Before Booking*…. This property is in the heart of downtown Duluth with many homeless sitting at entry of doorway and walking all around but that wasn’t the worst of our stay. During our stay we had 5+ unwanted guests come walking into the property which means they had to enter through not one but TWO key coded doors that only US as guests should know. One of the unwanted guests even knew which bathroom had a toilet and which didn’t and proceeded to use the bathroom disregarding our words to leave. We ended up calling the police to have the situation taken care of. The owner was able to scapegoat the entire situation, after we requested a full refund, by stating we were partying which was NOT the case at all. These hosts are scammers and I highly recommend booking elsewhere.

Interesting adventure...

This was one of the most interesting, not in a good way, experience we’ve ever had on VRBO or similar platforms. It was marketed as good spot for families and as a family with 2 children under 3 you start by having to climb roughly 30 stairs. Only after you climb the stairs do you come to find out that it’s above a night club. Our first night music blared until about 1 AM. The second night, the night before a half marathon race, the club was open until 3AM. We wake up and see about 18 police and then after the police officers clear the scene and arrest a few individuals the group comes back. Those same individuals decide to open their car with their subwoofers and play loud rap music all evening until 430 which was the time we had to leave to go for our race. To only make things worse when we booked it there was zero information about an iguana. We were expected to sleep next to an iguana and with its feces in its cage for 3 nights. The owners even asked us to feed it on their behalf.

Do NOT stay here- fraudulent owners.

I stayed here with my family in November. The unit was as described with the exception of the bar noise coming from below (which persisted until 2-3a followed by fights in the streets and sirens when the cops arrived) and the radiators spraying water and making excessive noise every time they fired. Our issues arose when we received a copy of a fraudulent insurance claim made by the owners stating we did $822.41 dollars of damage. The claim was that we damaged a chair, lamp and dart. None of which was true. The insurance company paid the claim. The owner then had the audacity to claim I didn’t pay 1/2 of my invoice. When I stated he had been paid in full plus an additional $822.41 his response was this, “You still owe you're still on the hook for the rest of your rent and if I have to take extra actions like go to court you're going to have to pay for those fees as well. I'm on my way down there tomorrow anyways to deal with my taxes so let me know now if I need to file a small claims case or if you intend to pay what you actually owe. The extra fees you're going to incur along with the courts fees and eventually your credit reports being hit it's just the beginning you'll also have to spend time coming up to court to defend your case which of course we both know it'll be a waste of your time and it'll be judged in our favor you'll also have a hit on VRBO for non-payment plus a negative review from an owner in which I will mention your Rowdy children and the unsupervised nature of your stay plus how the house was damaged and how you didn't even pay your rent. We don't need to go down this road just pay what you agreed to pay. I'm not even mad that you guys damaged the property it's why we have insurance so it has been taken care of and I'm not blaming you for not making your second payment it actually does happen we've been doing this for many years with many properties the only difference is in the past when we brought it up to our guests they just made the payment no one tried to say they did make the payment when they didn't. you can look at your bank account and know with 100% certainty that the second payment never went through.” This is an excerpt from one of 11 harassing texts and I have since blocked the owner’s number as he was paid in full. If you find you have time for such drama, rent away, but you have been warned. My Mother was in the unit the entire time and we were with our teenage children, always supervised. Bill was paid
