Amazing old school beach vibes with a view! 15/10

We absolutely loved our stay at this beachfront cottage and so did my dog! The views were incredible, when we weren’t on the beach, we were on the porch soaking it all in. You truly can’t beat the location or it's private beach access. The home felt so cozy and welcoming, like a place we’ve been coming to for years.Bud was an amazing host. He was friendly, responsive, and a pleasure to meet in person too. 15/10 experience. We’ll definitely be back next year for another very merry, beachy Christmas!

Older beach house with great views. This is our second time staying here. Our last visit was in 2021. However, this visit wasn’t the same. The house has not been maintained well since then. Falling down ceiling plaster in every room and cabinets that can’t close, Dust covered walls and Roaches rule the kitchen at night. (Mostly) Minor things that have been seriously ignored. It’s a great location, it just needs some love to be brought back to life.

The cottage felt like you were at home. It wasn't giving a commercial vibe but more of a home and relax vibe. The owners were very kind and the view is amazing.

Unpretentious and perfect

This is the kind of beach cottage I remember from childhood. Low-key, homey, and thoughtfully appointed, right down to novels by local authors. I could stay there for a month! The owner/manager lives downstairs and is pleasantly available if you need anything. You do have to get your suitcase up an exterior flight of steps, but he'll help you. You can see the ocean from the porch and walk to it in 2 minutes along a private boardwalk.

Cottage on the Beach

We loved our time here. The location is perfect, private and the view is fantastic. Very basic and yet everything is provided. We needed batteries for the remote and Bud was there within minutes to help us. He was very kind. This is our 2nd time staying here and I’m sure we’ll be back. Thanks for everything!

The view was the best thing.

We slept well and loved the view, but the shabbiness of the garage apartment was a shocker. It’s not a cottage. No tvs in the bedrooms. The only closet was shared with a washer and dryer. Cabinet doors in the kitchen would not close. Problems with keeping things plugged into the outlets. Living room furniture very uncomfortable. WiFi was good and TV had Dish satellite. AC worked very well.

beautiful location, house needs improvement

The house is in a great location, however the inside needs some work. It looks far better in the picture than in reality. Our overall stay was a good mainly because we did not spend much time in the house as we enjoyed the fantastic location and proximity to the town, but the house really deserves some improvements.

Our stay

Our first trip to Fernadina was wonderful . Bud was super friendly and had the place in great condition when we arrived. We loved being steps away from the beach with our two boys and pups !

View and beach were beautiful. Beach was not crowded. The host who lived on the property was very cordial. Pet friendly I would have liked to see some things cleaner. The cottage was located directly on A1A and the noise was loud while trying to sleep. The stairs leading into the cottage would be a problem for anyone with mobility issues. Overall we had a great stay.

Perfect Beach Cottage for our Long Weekend

To celebrate my Wife's birthday, I took her to the cottage for a long weekend. It was great to be away from the hustle & bustle of the downtown area - but only be 5-10 minutes away. Watching the sunrise each morning was a big highlight as was being able to walk out directly to the beach without crossing a busy road. The cottage had everything we needed - which wasn't much as our stay was only a few days - but it is well outfitted for longer stays where you would want to be able to cook meals instead of going out to eat all the time.We were also fortunate to meet Bud the caretaker and his two dogs!

Fantastic View and super short walk to the Beach!

Loved that it was pet friendly! Sitting out on the deck provided a fabulous View each morning sunrise! It is 14 steps up to the unit, but that was totally fine with us. It had everything you needed in the kitchen for cooking! Extra towels / hand soap and toilet paper. Hate going to a place where this is very little and you have run out and buy asap. Very Quite and manager was super helpful when we called with a quick question. Would go to unit again.

Serene views and simple beach living

We stayed here for a long weekend and were super pleased. Easy access to the beach, safe area, nice neighbors and the cottage has everything you need. We especially loved that by being on the second floor we had a perfect view across the dunes to the ocean. Very nice to sit on the couch and watch the sunrise w coffee. Also well equipped with cooking necessities and beach towels. Fellow light sleepers — almost all the beachside housing in Fernandina backs right up to A1A so bring along your ear plugs. Worked like a charm. We’ll be back!

Good for few days at the beach.

Property was adequate to enjoy a few days at the beach. Lots of dust in corners. Cabinets don’t shut. Counter space was lacking. Kitchen wasn’t stocked well. Went to the store and bought wine glasses, cutting board and hot pads and utensils. Donated them to the cabin. TV was great. View was great. Location was great.

We have enjoyed staying in the Fernandina Beach area. This spot was just right for us! Direct access to beach that was private was an added bonus.

We were satisfied. I's say the property is pretty much as advertised. The unit was clean and well kept, considering its age and overall condition. One should not expect grand luxe accommodations, but the unit is comfortable, and the location is wonderful, with direct access to the beach. Parking was ample. As noted in the description, access is by a single flight of outdoor stairs. That should be a consideration if you think you or your pet will have trouble negotiating the climb.

Awesome experience

Everyone was very friendly and welcoming. The view from the front door was absolutely gorgeous. The home was clean and efficient. It was so awesome to be able to just walk out the door and walk down to the beach on the private entrance walkway. Definitely worth it. And Definitely would love to return.
