Private Oceanfront Retreat ~ Relax to the Sound of Waves ~ Sunrise Views

This house is as close to the ocean as a home in this area can be, leaving us a huge front yard that appears very park like from Paradise Ala Kai Drive. We are always adding to the planting areas, including many native plants that we hope to one day label to create a botanical garden experience. Our home feels like old Hawaii driving down a lava rock wall lined driveway to a modest sized farm style home, that is airy and comfortable. Hale Kailani is our second home, so we furnish it with our own kind of home comforts. Outdoor seating is provided on my makai (ocean) side that is perfect for watching the sun rise with a cup of coffee, whale watching or star gazing in the evening. A smaller covered front porch provides a lovely alternative for when it's raining and also allows you to experience the mauka (mountain) side of the home, the vegetation and the tropical birds, including a few endangered Nene geese.

David is a local boy, growing up fishing and surfing so being able to fish right in his backyard is a huge bonus. When we visit, we spend every evening out on the lanai as the sun go down. We often see beautiful full moons with crystal clear skies and stars like you wouldn't believe. We have on occasion got to do some storm watching with lightning bolts out over the water. In January, February and March the humpback whales migrate through the islands, and they literally breech in the depths right off the lanai. It's amazing. It is my absolute favorite time to visit.
