It was a fun and great Cabin stay for us visiting the Hill Country. An on call technician came the first night and found a return air duct behind a grill had disconnected. He reattached it and we were very pleased with the prompt service. We would definitely rent again.

Needs window dark out shades in bedrooms. Hard to sleep at 6;00 am when the sun comes up. It would be nice to have removable cushions for the chairs on the front porch.

Perfect Country Cabin Stay

What a wonderful stay we had at this perfect historical cabin! We traveled with our family for a weekend get together. Close to town, yet the feeling of being in the country. We found the house to be super clean and check in was so easy. Already want to go back!

Lovely country getaway

Original house from 1850s with antique insides as well and older bathrooms. Lots of room for 4 people. Loved the firepit. Location perfect to anywhere in Fredericksburg area (5 minute drive to downtown). Only thing I wish it had was a dishwasher.

Country flair in a great location

We stayed at this house with friends for a weekend couples getaway. The property is clean and well cared for. It provides a relaxing country cottage feel that makes you think you're miles from anywhere but is still an incredibly convenient location for touring the wineries and visiting Fredericksburg. The grill and fire pit made it easy to come back and prepare a relaxing dinner then kick back and unwind after a day out. Would definitely recommend staying here.

Fun weekend get away

This was a great place to rent for a weekend. The history of the place, the location, the kitchen worked out well for our group. The only downside and we didn't notice it in the listing, but both bathrooms were not ADA compliant. We had a disabled person with us and the step down into the main bathroom and the clawtubs were not managable for them.

Doug, a weekend with your group cooking together in that kitchen is exactly what that house was built for. You raised something real about the bathroom access, and it deserves a straight answer: the step-down entry to the main bath and the clawfoot tubs are genuine barriers for guests with mobility needs, and that should be called out clearly in the listing so families can make an informed choice before they book. That detail goes in now. The history and the Hill Country setting will be here whenever you want to bring the group back!

Nice cottage

Queen bed could use a softer mattress. Electrical outlet in Master bath didn't work. Other than these minor issues. Very comfortable cabin in quiet neighborhood.

Some things to work on.

Need a document to teach us how to use the TV (Dish) system. I would not work and we could not watch any TV. The kitchen needs some knives, forks and spoons. Don’t use cheap toilet paper. Other than those three items it was great.

Rustic setting

Check in and property were just fine. The overall property was clean however, the kitchen did not fall into the same category. One drawer in the refrigerator was a third full of some liquid and the door seal was sticky making it difficult to open the door. The table and some cabinets needed to be cleaned before we felt comfortable using them. One coffee pot did not work. We had asked about availability of a propane grill and were told one was available only to be told once we arrived that this property didn’t come with one. These items made me question the effectiveness of management and detracted from an otherwise enjoyable trip.

Would stay again if...

We enjoyed our stay in this historic cabin. There was plenty of space for the 4 of us to spread out, which was nice since we stayed 4 nights. We loved the large kitchen and the ability to prepare a few meals during our stay. The glassware, dishware and cutlery were a little hodgepodge, but we managed. We were happy to see extra paper towels and toilet paper, as well as an ample supply of toiletries, towels and wash cloths. Another nice touch is the full size washer and dryer. Many vacation rentals do not offer this. We particularly enjoyed the rocking chairs and swing on the front porch where we had our coffee each morning. While there were many things we liked about the cabin, there were a few misses as well. The description is somewhat misleading. It states there are 2 king beds when in fact, there is 1 king and 1 queen bed. The cabin actually presents much nicer in the photos than in person. The furniture is a bit tired and the cabin is more rustic than it appears and it is very dimly lit. Instructions on how to work the televisions/dish would have been helpful. We had some difficulty and also found corroded batteries in one of the remotes and had to borrow from the other remote. Since we could not get the tv to work, it would have been nice to have a dvd/blue ray player since we brought movies with us. Despite the misses we mentioned, we would definitely stay again. We do, however, encourage management to stay a night or two in the cabin to get a feel for what would make the stay better. A few very simple and low cost touches would make the stay more comfortable. Ask the cleaning staff to check the remote batteries, watch the lightbulbs, tighten the loose toilet seats, add a blue ray player, get a matched set of dishes, cutlery and wine glasses. Leave some information on the history of the combined cabins, perhaps some before and after photos. Do a few things and invite us back, we will come!

Lovely, Cozy, Old Historical Home with many antiques

The VRBO description of the property was just what we were looking for as we are all ages 58 and up. We received a check in code via email, then prior to our stay we received a follow up text message. When we arrived at the home it was cold and raining. We entered the code provided, however, it did not work. We then had to call the cozi vacation rentals only to be placed on hold while running back to our car to get out of the cold and rain. We sat on hold for a few minutes and finally an answer, explained our situation and they provided us with a new code and said that they had lost internet service. They apologized and we entered the new code and it worked. Upon entering the home it was 65 degrees and cold. We found the thermostat and turned it on and warmed the home up after about 30 minutes. The home was very unique and historical and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The down side is we received several emails from VRBO and several from Cozi, often with different information for check in and check out. It would be nice to get all information at once. For Example: One said check out procedure was to take out the trash and place in receptacle at the side of the house. The trash receptacle was left at the end of the drive which was approx. 50 to 100 ft away, thus luckily we had a truck and took it all on our way out. The next email we got said to place the thermostat at 74 degrees, strip the beds and the cleaning people would do the rest then to lock the door using a different code but then wanted you to create a log in to get it. We chose the original check out process. So better communication between VRBO and Cozi Vacation Rentals would be helpful. We did love our stay in the home and the quietness, unfortunately we never saw any wildlife, maybe next time.

Good but could be better …

Loved the nostalgia. Thanks for the historical memories. Really cool old farmhouse. Here’s why we rated 3 - front porch light stayed on all night once triggered. Front BR bed was extra poor quality, MBR wasn’t much better. No ceiling fans so once doors shut there wasn’t any circulation. MBR Bath was tub only. Main Bath Door didn’t lock. No personalization - Greeting Card, Treats, etc. instead of over-communicating the CheckIn/Out process. For price would expect more overall. Happy to discuss further if desired.
