Perfect place to stay while visiting family in Boone! Stayed with husband and 2 kids, plenty of space, excellent kitchen and great room to hang out.

Getaway family weekend

Very pretty home with a beautiful yard! I love that it is pet and toddler friendly! However, walls are thin. Would stay here again in the future.

Amazing especially if you have a furry friend

We loved the location of this home. It was nice to let our dog off of the deck right into to dog run to go potty. Very nice kitchen and bathroom. Beautiful deck with a grill. We may visit again next year. Thank you!

Family Ski Trip

Our stay could not have been any better. Wonderful experience with a true cabin feel in a great location. The cabin was just as expected, clean and with all the essentials needed for a fun filled 4 days of skiing and sightseeing. The photos do a transparent job on what to expect, beautiful kitchen, spacious living room, comfortable bedrooms and the best part, the huge backyard with the highlight of our stay, the fire pit. Highly recommended. Can’t wait to go back.

I have to admit that this place was nicer than what I though. If you want a place to completely relax and connect with nature, then look no further. Location was key. It wasn’t far away from anything. There is so many things we didn’t get to do since our time was limited, but I’m planning to go back and visit. Loved this cabin.

Mountain paradise

This place is just awesome. I went for summer mountain biking and was a blast. The house is fully equipped with everything you need to relax without worrying of carrying anything. Grilling with an outstanding view at the deck was my favorite part, kitchen was fully equipped for all our cooking. Rooms are spacious, well furnished, and beds were comfortable. Found everything super clean and ready to use. Hope to come back soon.

A Slice of Heaven

We spent Memorial Day Weekend at Hounds Trail and it was perfect for your family. Our 3 young sons enjoyed the large yard and exploring the creek behind the house. The firepit was a wonderful spot each evening to unwind with s’mores! The home is comfortable and has so many comforts of home. The homeowners are so attentive and helpful—they clearly put a lot of effort into making sure guests have everything they need to enjoy their stay. We will be back for sure!

Did Not Want To Leave!

This place was perfect! It actually snowed on our way to the cabin in April! It is located on an easy access road but feels very private. We couldn’t get enough of the pretty views, especially from the big windows in the living room. The kitchen was so nice that my husband even cooked me breakfast one morning. We also loved the fireplace and how easy it was to turn off/on. Cannot think of one negative thing about this cabin. Thank you for allowing us to enjoy your beautiful home!

Mountain Retreat

The place was beautiful with gorgeous views. We really enjoyed that we were able to take our dogs with us. There was a fully stocked kitchen which made it very easy for us to cook our own meals. There were a few cons though: a bug issue in the loft area, several lightbulbs that needed to be changed, the way to get into the creek was not convenient and I think what disappointing us the most is that we had to take over a weeks worth of garbage with us when we already had a very fully packed SUV-it was a huge inconvenience that we were not expecting and would have assumed the cleaning fees would have taken care of something like that but it all worked out in the end.

After sending your feedback to the owner, they would like to share the following: - Thank you for choosing to stay in our Banner Elk, North Carolina cabin and leaving a review, as guest feedback is vitally important to us and the success of our vacation rental business. - We're happy to hear that you took advantage of making your meals with our fully stocked kitchen. - We stayed in the property following your stay and are happy to say we didn't see any insects up there. - There are extra light bulbs in the kitchen should a bulb be needed during a guest's visit. We did replace a bulb in the bathroom; however, there was more than ample light with the remaining working bulbs. - The creek is located at the end of our property with many accessible locations. We did build a more pronounced pathway with some rock stairs leading down to the creek. - Since our cabin is in the mountains, the normal conveniences of garbage pick up do not exist due to bears. If garbage is left, outside the house, a bear will destroy the garbage can and eat the garbage. This information was on your check-in instructions, but we do apologize if this caught you off guard. We truly go above and beyond for our guests and are confident that future guests will have excellent stays!

Nice location—bring ice and all cooking gear

We stayed here with our pups for a wedding and also some hiking. The house has a beautiful view, is very dog friendly and we loved the outdoor fenced area and large deck! Very quiet location, and we enjoyed watching deer and having a fire in the fire pit area. Some downsides—the primary bedroom has an open bathroom with no door (!). The bed is very squeaky—even just turning over can be loud. The ice maker is broken and there is no ice so stop for ice before heading up the mountain. Otherwise this is a nice short term stay for a couple or small family.

Owner canceled the reservation NOT VRBO!

Had we not been directly contacted by the owner of the cabin to cancel our reservation, we might have made the 5+ hour trip to Banner Elk to find out we couldn’t get into the cabin. VRBO and EVOLVE TRAVEL gave us NO notification at all about our reservation! We would have loved to stay at Hound Trail, but very disappointed with VRBO AND EVOLVE!!!

Childhood Friend Reunion

I loved the views of the mountain and especially the view of the nighttime sky. The stars were so bright and the whole area is peaceful. The house & property are well maintained. The beds were comfortable for all my friends. I love the small heater built into the wall in the bathroom upstairs. It was nice to turn the heat down at night to sleep and then wake up to shower and have the bathroom warm up quickly for my shower. We hit the winery nearby as well as some local restaurants. We also had fun with some inner tubes we blew up and used to slide down the hill in the backyard after it snowed. It was the perfect get away for our friend reunion.

North Carolina Mountain Getaway

It certainly is beautiful in the NC mountains and we were excited about this home, based on the pictures and description. However, the actual location and amenities were not as advertised... the home is down in a valley, with no views of the mountains, rather than up on mountain with views... also, the beds and towels were less than average. Towels were non-absorbent... property contact was difficult to get a hold of, and offered little to nothing in help/assistance - could not even tell us why the cable tv service did not include any sports channels at all, and during football season.

We have views of the rolling hills surrounding the property, as is displayed on the listing photos. We encourage guests to thoroughly review the listing before booking, to ensure they find the perfect vacation home for their needs. - We use high-quality linen for the home but are sorry if the towels didn't match your personal preferences. - The home is advertised as having smart TVs as our remote location does not allow us to have cable. - Unfortunately, significant damage was done to the home during this stay that took extra time and effort in order to bring the home back to our high standards. Perfect for families with dogs

House was beautiful, well equipped, and in a great location. Nice fenced area for dogs that was right off the deck. Deck had good latching gates so dogs could wonder on deck freely. Inside was spacious with a master suite on main level. A nice size kitchen/dining area and living room space. Only issues during the week was a small leak in kitchen to which the property owner responded they would be addressing, the WiFi went out for the last two days of the stay (so no TV watching and limited phone service for us since no cell signal), and on last day of stay the AC unit stopped working. I reported the WiFi outage and the AC not working to the property owner today when departing, but haven’t gotten a response yet. Despite these few unexpected things, we had a great week and would definitely consider renting this cabin again in future.

Beautiful log cabin

This place was ideal for a family get-together. It is well located in Banner Elk with nice restaurants, vineyards and hiking near by. The view from the house of the hills and forest was calming, and space for our dog to run around safely was ideal. The house is well equipped, well decorated and very confortable. All-in-all a great stay!

Loved it 😍

We stayed for a long weekend and had a blast. We especially loved the high ceilings and breathtaking sunlight to the living room and kitchen! You just have an amazing open space with previous sun filled social space to bond with family. The fire pit is amazing in the evening for s’mores and fire side chat, spooky storytelling etc. The creek is a nice find and I loved taking my one year old pup, she was the happiest dog with the outside wrapping porch and a gated dog park safe for them to run freely. The owners are dog lovers and have designed the experience for children, dugs, families and big groups ready to hit the slopes or hiking trails. And roller cuádreme nearby a must attraction!

Best vacation home!!

Review 5 star Hound Trails is a cozy retreat, it’s a true log cabin. The location was perfect. It’s close to hiking, wineries, and downtown Banner Elk, yet you have the feeling of being secluded. The kitchen had all the necessities that one could want, I loved the gas range. While we were here, I enjoyed an invigorating waterfall hike. We went to a nice outdoor concert behind the Mast General Store, what a great find. We indulged at the Banner Elk Winery and the Grandfather Winery. We canoed the New River, which was so serene. Had savory barbecue at the Peddalin Pig. We rode the Alpine Coaster. Most of all we loved grilling at the cabin and hanging at the fire pit! I’ll definitely be back!🌲 Tammy

Delightful Springtime Memories

The house was immaculate, beds and couches were comfy, and the spring flowers were in bloom. My favorite resting place was the lovely landscaped firepit where we roasted marshmallows while drinking local wine. Besides the Banner Elk winery, don't miss the beautiful winery at Linville - there was live music at both places. Do hike the waterfall trail - it's invigorating but there are benches at strategic levels for the less athletic. Great vacation!

A Slice of Heaven

We stayed at Hounds Trail over Memorial Day weekend. The house provided every comfort of home. The large yard was perfect for our young sons to run and play. The sounds of the creek while sitting by the fire pit made for perfect evenings. The proximity to downtown Banner Elk and area attractions is perfect. You feel like you’re away from it all while still having access to everything. We contacted the homeowners directly to inquire about bringing our well-behaved Goldendoodle and they graciously obliged. We will absolutely be back!

Cozy and clean. Loved the views, the outside yard and the fire pit! Also, lunch down by the creek with the dogs was serene 😌

Wonderful stay!

My family and I had an amazing week here! 10-15 min drive to downtown banner elk. The yard was perfect for our boys to play and run. The house was clean and very cozy!!

Fantastic Fun with A Fabulous cabin

We absolutely loved our stay at Hound Trails. From the time we entered the property we knew we would have the relaxing vacation we so well deserved. The cabin is nestled on a rolling hill with trees on the perimeter. The interior was cozy, clean, and very well decorated. We enjoyed relaxing by the fireplace while looking out on our snow covered yard. We couldn’t have asked for a better location. It was a 10 minute drive to the ski slopes and alpine coaster, a 5 minute drive to the winery and a 7 minute drive to downtown Banner Elk. We also hiked a beautiful trail with waterfalls, this was also very close to the cabin. We can’t wait to come back in the warmer months and enjoy the local art festivals and mountain biking trails.

It was amazing!!!

We had a fabulous stay at Hound Trails Cabin. From the coziness of the living space to the amazing views of the mountains, it was just a beauty of a place. We loved the decor of the cabin and the efficiency in the kitchen. We loved the close distance to the ski slopes, wineries, and great places to eat. Yes, we will be back!!
