We enjoyed the southern Nicoya Peninsula so much. It was so beautiful and the beaches were gorgeous with the topography and clouds and waves and even the rain. We did the Zuma snorkeling tour which was great even without the snorkeling just for the views and calmer gorgeous beach alone. The bioluminescence tour wasn’t the most exciting, however it was definitely the most interesting and unique/one of a kind experience. Definitely recommend that as a lifelong memory. Ziplining was fun, especially for the kids. We also went to Playa Cuevas in Mal Pais at low tide and walked around the tide pools and saw several sea turtles swimming around us! Amazing! Lots of little crabs as well and pretty secluded.
The host was extremely responsive and helpful. Always had an answer and quick as well. The streets were extremely muddy, but the house had a great water spigot to rinse off easily when we got home. Always was clean and simple. Perfect size and easy to relax with the indoor and outdoor areas. We never got the tv to work, but not sure if it was really supposed to. The wifi worked great. The house is in a pretty busy area, but is actually surprisingly quiet. We never had an issue with the noise, but it would e been nice to have been somewhere more secluded so we couldn’t hear the construction next door. It never started before 7am though and the birds were as loud as they were lol.
The only minor things that were unexpected was that the pool wasnt very inviting. It was kinda dirty most the time we were there with things floating in it constantly and it was chilly. Obviously, the temperature wasnt anyone’s fault(unless they installed a heater ;), but it was a disappointment as we were counting on it for entertainment for the kids. Also, the plumbing is sloooow. I guess this is normal, which I had read, but I don’t think the master toilet ever totally flushed. So, we just started using the other ones. The kitchen sink also took an eternity to drain. This was fine for us since we were family, but if this were couples sharing, the toilet thing would’ve been pretty gross.
Overall, it was a very clean, safe, quiet house with a great host. Could’ve been more secluded, but still prolly a good chance of construction somewhere as the area is growing quick.
