This property made the entire vacation. The proximity to the beach and town were fantastic but the ease, comfort, open space and the pool topped it all off. Definitely worth it!

Amazing stay at Casa Maleku

We had such a fantastic week in Santa Teresa at this gorgeous property!! The house had a perfect layout for our group of 7 and all of the bedrooms were big with comfortable beds and beautiful views. The outdoor pool area is so stunning with its ocean views. The location was perfect... a quick walk down the driveway and there is a lovely cafe across the street, a fun beachfront restaurant, and of course, the amazing beach. The surfers in our group especially enjoyed the proximity to the surf. The concierge Jose was super helpful in booking our transportation to/from the airport, arranging delivery of a rental car, and making dinner reservations. The housekeepers were so sweet and kept the villa immaculate during our stay. We were sad to leave and hope to return someday soon. Thanks again for a wonderful stay!!

Nice layout of the house. Lovely view. Upon arrival we had a few issues with the air conditioners and they were promptly fixed.

Amazing Home + Incredible Experience = Pura Vida!!

Wow! That’s what me and all my friends said when we entered the house on our first day. And, it didn’t disappoint. We had the best week. Awesome location, architecture, and amenities. We enjoyed the pool, and the amazing views. Incredible. The rooms were perfect for our group. And, Jose the property manager was SO helpful!! Helped us with everything from groceries, to transportation, renting ATVs, private chef, zip lining, and surfing lessons!!! Overall, this place is amazing, and our entire group wants to come back soon!!

Truly and AMAZING property . We were absolutely thrilled with all aspects of our week long stay Beautiful views and breathtaking sunsets Stunning indoor / outdoor living space that naturally transitions into the negative edge pool Spacious luxurious bedrooms with walls of windows .. all with ensuite bathrooms No one gets the "bad bedroom" Jose and his Staff offer "5 STAR" service and very willing to accommodate your requests Easy access to spectacular beaches and only steps away from delicious oceanfront dining We HIGHLY recommend you consider Casa Maleku ... Stephen has built a FANTASTIC property and a pleasure to work with when planning your trip...

Avoid booking this place!!

Other than a couple of things that don’t work in the house like the fridge, dish washer and the ac in one of the bedrooms that drips water on the bed in the middle of the night, the house is nice but from the moment you walk in Stephen makes you feel like you are walking on egg shells. We were there for week long celebrating our wedding, our very special week, Stephen and Jose the concierge were constantly sending us texts about non sense stuff like why do you guys have so much laundry or why did you have your parents over for dinner one night. I am Costa Rican and I live in the US so I don’t get to see my family very often and because I had them over for dinner one night he charged us ‘’an event fee’’ of $1,500 that was taken out of our security deposit. He also took another $1,000 ($500 of this was taken out after we checked out without letting us know). He stalked our Instagram accounts to look for “evidence” and took a screenshot of a yoga class I did with a couple of the girls the morning of our wedding to justify all these money he took from us. These along with a lot of other things our stay there was a horrible experience from the beginning to now that we are dealing with CC company to try to get our money back. There are so many other amazing places to stay in Santa Teresa. I recommend to stay away from this one!

A Unique Villa In An Idyllic Setting.

Casa Maleku is both impressive and inviting. The modern architecture and amazing landscaping will keep your eyes busy the whole time your there. Wether your lounging by the pool and enjoying some of the best sunsets in the world or if your just sitting on the sofa's relaxing after a long day of surfing, the experience will always be pleasant. The same can be said for the owner, our interactions with him were always courteous, they were quick to reply and they accommodated our every need. All in all, I can't recommend this place enough. If you are thinking of going to Santa Teresa, this is absolutely the place to stay.

Best Vacation Ever!!!

Not only was this house unbelievable, and the town super charming, but to make this trip top notch, Steve went above and beyond to make sure we got the best experience out of this amazing place. From charter planes and atv rentals before we even got there to the best restaurant recommendations, fun activities and taking me to the best surf spots around, it was a trip I will never forget. Can't wait to go back. Thank you Joyas Villas!!

A must stay for the region of Santa Teresa

Our group of three couples stayed in one of two on-site Villas. The property is designed in a way that each villa has total privacy and never is there a sense of the opposing house. Upon arrival, Steve (our host) made sure that we had everything we needed for the duration of our entire trip. The house was extremely clean, well-stocked, and absolutely stunning. Casa Maleku felt like it was designed perfectly for the changing moods of our group. Whether you wanted to relax and be by yourself, host a large dinner party, get a little romantic, or party by the pool... this house enabled you. For the four nights we were there, it felt like you could do whatever you wanted, whenever! Although the house is setup so that you never have to leave, eventually you should want to explore the town. We rented ATV's (which Steve is happy to arrange), which is HIGHLY recommended to maximize what you can see and have a little fun in the process. The house is centrally located to everything you could want-- surf breaks, trendy cafes, nice restaurants, local markets, etc... I don't know if everyone has the experience we had in Santa Teresa, but we will definitely stay at one of Steve and Danielle's properties again to make sure we have as good a time as this last trip.

Trip of a Lifetime!

Once we arrived and drove through Santa Teresa, we loved the overall vibe of the town.. beachy, cool, young, but from a different amazing world. Driving through the gates of the Joyas Villas, we cilmbed the dirt hill with anticipation and couldn't have been more overwhelmed when the villa came into sight. Like something out of Architectural Digest - stunning and welcoming. So open and bright and we felt instantly on vacay mode. The town itself is unreal - i'm still amazed at how many restaurants and cafe's are packed onto this street -and on the other side, beach for miles. And all of them more amazing than the next - i'm not typically a foodie but the food was unreal. The most fun was cruising around town on our ATVs - even venturing into the jungle to eat at yet another amazing place & jump from a waterfall. That was the hubs favorite part too... well, that and surfing every morning! Joyas Villas set all of it up for us - first class all the way. All in all, we relaxed, we adventured and we can't wait to go back!!

AMAZING VILLA, EXCEEDED EXPECTATIONS

This experience was easily the trip of a lifetime for us and our friends! The Villa exceeded our expectations with incredible views and cleanliness not to mention its only a 5 minute walk to the beach and 2 minute ATV ride into town. The host was clearly working behind the scenes throughout our trip to ensure that we experienced the best of Santa Teresa. This included organising incredible chefs to come to the Villa and cook for us, horse riding along the beach, ATV trips to amazing local spots, always recommending lunch and dinner places and insuring we had reservations and handling all rentals that we need for our trip. The list goes on and on. I’ll be travelling back to Joya Villas in a heart beat!

Casa Maleku PURE Luxury & 5 Star Service and Views

First let me say that this property, or the effect it has on you upon arrival cannot be imagined through the photos. They simply do not do the house (mansion) justice. Joya's luxury concierge made sure our trip was 5 star from the time we booked to departure. We love Santa Teresa, the intimate beach town feels, the wonderful food, the coastline. It is not touristy /overdeveloped. Joya set us up with a private plane from SJO airport, & taxis waiting for our group at Tambor airport. All these details cut our travel time in half! Upon arrival, I had shared my preferences in wine (I am picky), & our group had food allergies. As we pulled up to the property and walked in to the huge open living area and kitchen, we all had our jaws on the floor. We arrived to a brunch spread of champagne rose, croissants, gluten free pastries from the local bakery. We were starving and so appreciated the spread! They chefs who prepared a 3 course lunch. Mussels, Fries, kale salad, apps. I am was extremely satisfied with the variety, quality & freshness of the food in Santa Teresa. Back to the house, it is set up exactly as you see it in the pictures. Modern HUGE open floor plan, state of the art kitchen, custom furnishings. What sets Maleku apart from any home I have ever stayed at is 4 Master King Bedrooms. No fighting over a room? Amazing. Each room has sweeping ocean views, a deck & a gorgeous bathroom. The rooms also did not share walls, so you had complete privacy to relax. We also had rented quads to get around town (which were delivered to our villa), the guys would surf in the morning & afternoon between dips in the massive infinity pool. I love a pool w/a tanning shelf &rafts to float in. So many poolside naps between our adventures. They recommended Montezuma waterfall (to be honest we didnt ever want to leave this mansion!) but the ride through the jungle on quad was awesome! Ending at Playa De los artistes restaurant for Ceviche on the sand was a must! We had chefs a few nights, but enjoyed grabbing a sunset drink & dinner at some amazing local restaurants. The location is in the high end nice part of town, and accessible to all the great beaches and cafes. The beach is literally a few steps from the villa. You can walk out front for a quick dip in the ocean, or a sunset drink. The 24 hr security guard made sure the house was locked every time we left. Every detail was accounted for & more extravagant than any 5 star hotel we have stayed !

The best vacation house in Santa Teresa

I’ve visited Santa Teresa for 5 years in a row, and stayed in many different houses. This is without any doubt the winner. We are all different, and we are all looking for different characteristics of an accommodation. With that said, I would still say that this is a house that everyone would enjoy. I stayed in the house for a couple of days, and I wish I had stayed longer. There are few places that manage to offer a sense of luxury and modernity, and at the same time give the feeling of being at home. Usually, it's one or the other, but here you really get both parts. The house is modern, and since I am interested in art and architecture, the great design and beautiful details in every room was wonderful. The beautiful plants indoors gave me the feeling of being surrounded by nature all the time. With birds chirping day long, it wasn’t hard to find some peace of mind. The house is large and spacious, so you can easily stay here as a big family, as couples or just as a group of friends. The open kitchen and the pool area are perfect to hang out at, so me and my friends spent a lot of our time there during both days and nights. Cooking food and enjoying long dinners together, listening to music by the pool and relaxing in the sunbeds. It wasn’t hard to get some time alone either though. The bedrooms are large, spacious and with a spectacular view towards the jungle and the ocean. Each bedroom has a private shower garden, which was just lovely. We could easily have stayed in the house without ever leaving it, but since it only takes two minutes to walk to the beach… We spent some time there as well. The surf waves are good for both beginners and more experienced surfers, and you can find a surf school by the road to the beach. The calmness in the northern parts of Santa Teresa is really something that I appreciate. Not so much people and noise, but still close to good restaurants and cafés. On top of everything, my favorite café in Santa Teresa, Café Social, is located right by the house. The owners, Danielle and Steve, are really nice people and it was a pleasure meeting them. Steve welcomed us with a bottle of wine and a big smile when we arrived, and that instantly made us feel very welcomed. Jose Pablo, the manager of the house, took care of us and gave us a lot of good laughs when he came by the house to help out with something. All really lovely people that I look forward to seeing again.

Hands down the best place to stay in Santa Terasia

The house is incredible beautifully designed and furnished with some of the most comfortable beds you could ever hope for. Perfectly located close enough to cafes and restaurants in town but far enough away for peace and quiet. A beach full of empty beach breaks and a great right hand point / slab within a 5 minute walk. The decks are a beautiful environment to practice yoga or walk 15 minutes to a great beachfront shala. Wonderful owners, manager and staff that will organise anything you need. I cant recommend it highly enough we will be back Santa Terasia is a unique hidden gem and an ideal escape from a fast pace world.
