This is our 2nd stay here and we just love it. It’s perfect for a couple and it’s really close to downtown Port saint Joe. The city center is only about a mile away with great views of the bay on your walk to the center with several options for eating without getting on the Hwy. The owners are the best! Can’t wait to get back

Perfect Weekend

We absolutely loved our stay at the Windmark carriage house! The home was exactly as described—beautiful view, super comfortable, and a well-stocked kitchen that made everything easy. We even brought our compact Nespresso machine but loved the really nice Keurig and Peets coffee. It was the perfect weekend escape for peace and relaxation.We especially enjoyed the piers and walking to the town center, where we discovered the divine Mill Mercantile bar—hands down the best espresso martini I’ve ever had! We've visited Port St. Joe several times since we're only a couple of hours away, but this has officially become our new favorite place to stay.The only downside? It’s not pet-friendly—our little fur baby would’ve loved it too!

Excellent property and superior hosts. We will be booking this place anytime we are in the area. It was so peaceful and the porch was great! I could sit there all day and just watch the water.

Gorgeous view from a beautiful property

The carriage house and Gulf view were even better than the photos and description. Truly lovely and comfortable place with every convenience. Very clean. Excellent location just steps to the beach path. Close to Port St Joe. Beautiful neighborhood and beach for walking. Owners are terrific.

What a gem

My wife and I have stayed on cape San Blas I think this is 15 years and was always curios about Windmark Beach. This carriage house was perfect for the two of us. It is furnished on the higher end Viking appliances and Sheila has thought of everything to make your stay seamless. I always thought I would be giving up something staying on the bay side but it’s just as beautiful and so much less people and only a couple of miles to all the restaurants. We will Definitely be back!

Wonderful New Years getawaway!

My husband and I stayed for the Nee Years weekend and loved this beautiful carriage house! It was beautifully decorated and and everything about it was custom. We were very comfortable there and had everything we needed to enjoy a relaxing weekend! Loved it!

Parent Getaway

We had a great weekend stay at the carriage house. The accommodations were fantastic. Loved the upscale amenities of the space, it was perfect for the two of us. The only drawback was that the bed creaked with every turn, otherwise it was a dream stay. The short walk to the beach was so convenient. Windmark Beach is a wonderful, quiet community. We strolled along the boardwalk and enjoyed the shops. Would definitely recommend for a quiet getaway.

Quiet & relaxing beach destination

Peaceful beach setting. Small town feel. If you want to go to the beach to relax and perhaps fish, this is the area. Not a party beach. We were there in early May. Older crowd. Actually, no crowds. Very quiet. Private beach. Lovely.

We had a fabulous Anniversary weekend in The Windmark Cottage. It was exactly as advertised. Clean, beautiful and right on the water. The owners were so nice and helpful. They provided beach chairs, umbrellas and even bikes! We took the bikes and rode down the scenic path to dinner one night. It was amazing, we highly recommened and will be back!

Perfect couples getaway

We absolutely loved the place. Very well stocked and had everything we needed (and then some. It was the small details that made it so special. The host was extremely responsive and helpful. Literally a 1-minute walk to the beach from the front door. Couldnt be any closer to the water. The beach was very quiet and secluded and felt like we were on a private beach. If you're looking for a quaint, secluded place to go, PSJ is the place. Plenty of good restaurants within 10 minutes and very reasonably priced. I've been going to the Panhandle for 20 years and the "Forgotten Coast" has a totally different vibe. Perfect place to unwind and avoid the crowds on 30-A. We will be back for sure!

Beautiful location and property!

My 10-yr-old son and I spent 6 nights here over his spring break. It was absolutely perfect for the two of us. The property is spotless, and we loved utilizing the well-stocked kitchen. The beach is literally in the backyard, and we spent hours walking the shore, finding treasures, and enjoying the beautiful scenery. It’s a very quiet and safe neighborhood, which made it incredibly relaxing. Port St Joe is a 5-minute drive, and we loved exploring the shops and restaurants of Reid Avenue. It was such a pleasant surprise that every single person we encountered during our stay was SO kind, helpful, and sweet. Make sure you check out the lighthouse, Forgotten Coast Sea Turtle Center, and save an evening for a special dinner at the White Marlin. Cape San Blas is an easy drive from WindMark, and we enjoyed a day at the gulf-side beaches of T.H. Stone Memorial State Park. LongBill’s is a fun spot for lunch or dinner. We also did a snorkel adventure through AquaBear Adventures. Such a fun way to get out on the water, and we had so many dolphins swimming alongside the boat! We can’t wait to come back - thank you Sheila and Cliff for sharing your amazing space with us!

Celebrating our 25th Wedding anniversary, looking for quiet privacy

The entire subdivision is under full blown building construction,, the owners are 5' away from the front door, stating that they were "in for the weekend" ( they live here) . although a nice new place,, there was no PRIVACY, NOT QUIET... And further more we were so disappointed that we opted to leave respecfully, and now we fight for our $ back.. we started with VRBO, threw over to Evolve??? they have followed up,, but this is 3 weeks now still no resolution on refund. We acted in good faith to leave all , not to even sit on the couch in our whole 15 minutes,, sadly no honestly on behlaf of this owner. Will never again us VRBO,,

Much needed weekend get away

I can’t say enough great things about the carriage house! It was the absolute perfect get away for my husband and I. Cliff and Sheila are amazing hosts. They are available for anything you may need/questions you have. Although their main residence is steps away you’d never know it. They built the carriage house as if they were living there themselves. The amenities are top notch! I was so impressed by the comfortable bed and couch, the large smart TVs (all aps ready for use), the Viking appliances, the pristine shower and the comfortable patio furniture. The house is so nice you’ll feel bad for tracking sand in! The beach is perfect. My husband and I enjoyed looking for seashells! We found it refreshing to visit a natural beach! As far as your walk to the beach, I would hardly call it a “walk.” If the house were any closer it would sit in the water! The beautiful community is gated and safety never felt like an issue. It was quiet and perfect for relaxing. Don’t think twice about booking the carriage house! By far one of our most favorite vacations and we can’t wait to return. Thank you again Cliff and Sheila for sharing your beautiful home with us!

Our return visit: Pleasant stay but disappointed by some unexpected changes.

We fell in love with this place during our visit in the summer of '23 and eagerly planned our return. However, a few changes since our last stay were disappointing. Firstly, despite the listing stating a Keurig is provided and there was one last time we stayed, it had been replaced with a regular coffee machine. After notifying the host, they promptly provided a Keurig for us to use, which we appreciated. They've always been very responsive.The biggest letdown was discovering a newly erected rock sea wall upon our arrival. Previously, being steps away from the water was a major draw for us, but now we had to haul our gear about 50 yards down the beach sit with our toes in the water. This was a significant change not mentioned in the listing or shown in outdated photos, which was misleading and disheartening. Had we known about this major alteration, we would have likely considered other options.Despite these issues, we still adore the area, the cottage itself (though blackout curtains in the bedroom would help), the fantastic restaurants, and the attentive hosts. However, our second visit didn't live up to what was advertised or our expectations.

Listing needs updating, new retaining wall added to beach in front of house.

I waited to post this review in the hopes that the listing would be updated as to no longer have any misleading pictures. However, I do not wish for another family to be disappointed as we were when we arrived at our rental. I will start with the positives…. The rental is beautiful and updated. The appliances are in great shape and the kitchen has all you may need for your stay. The pool is a short distance away and was great. Windmark is a beautiful area. The negatives…. I specifically chose this rental for the beach/water access that is shown in the pictures. We have two small children with lots of beach equipment and diaper changes to think about as well. We stay in places with direct beach access for this reason, quick run to the room for diaper changes/lunch/naps etc. Upon our arrival we discovered that a retaining wall consisting of large rocks/boulders has been added to the beach. There is sand access directly in front of the house but in order to get to the water, you must walk 200 yards where the wall ends. It was an extreme disappointment for us as it was the selling point of us booking. While this is no fault of the homeowner/lister, I asked that the listing be updated to reflect this. As of today the pictures still show an open beach/water in front of the home. Just beware when booking that this is not the case. The area is great with restaurants, a close downtown area, and the home is beautiful. If direct beach access is a must, it’s best to look elsewhere.

Our family of four (2 young kids) loved this rental. The hostess was incredibly helpful with beach chairs and recommendations for food/sights. It's a very quiet beach on the protected bay side of Cape San Blas (St. Joe Bay) with quick access to restaurants/shops in Port St. Joe and Mexico beach. It's an easy 30min drive to many more beaches on the Cape. The amenities of the development (bike paths, pools, restaurants) were also perfect for our brief trip. Highly recommended!
