End of the Rainbow is an Oceanfront favorite, with a game room, private saltwater pool, elevator, and an open floor plan -- this home has it all! With gorgeous ocean views beyond the dunes, you can sit back and enjoy nature's beauty without ever leaving the house. Windows wrap around the third-floor great room, a loft that allows you to see far and wide, large decks on every level, and a sound side screened-in porch for watching breathtaking sunsets over the Pamlico Sound. Enjoy the private saltwater pool or relax in the 6-person hot tub after an adventurous day.

Ground Level: Exterior amenities include a carport and driveway with parking for 6 vehicles, a gas grill, direct exterior elevator access from the driveway to all levels, a private saltwater pool, hot tub, outside shower, fish cleaning table, and a shared sand path to the beach. Inside you'll find a Recroom with a 40” flat-screen HD satellite TV/DVD, foosball table, deck access, bonus area with 2 DuoBunks (Twin over Full), and a kitchenette with a full-size refrigerator, sink, and microwave. A full bathroom is also accessible from the hallway.

Mid Level: This level offers 4 spacious bedrooms. Bedrooms #1 and #2 are each furnished with a King bed, a flat-screen TV, and private ensuite bathrooms. Bedrooms # 3 and #4 are each furnished with a Queen bed, a flat-screen TV, a private bathroom, and a private deck. You will also have a convenient laundry area on this level.

Top Level: Be greeted by the stunning Great Room with cathedral ceilings, ocean views from almost every window, and tasteful coastal decor. The Great Room provides you with a flat-screen satellite TV/BluRay/DVD combo, and oceanfront deck access. An Office Nook with a built-in desk and ocean view provides a comfortable environment to get work done, with a half bath right around the corner. Finish your favorite book in the Captain's Lookout with seating for 1. Show off your chef skills in the well-equipped kitchen, offering a large French-door refrigerator, Keurig, double ovens, a spacious pantry, a breakfast nook that seats 2, and counter seating that seats 2. Get the family together to eat at the 8-person dining table providing you with ocean views.

Linens and towels are provided all year. This home will provide sheets for all beds and the beds will be made except for sleep sofas, top bunks, and trundle beds in which case the sheets are provided. This home also provides 1 bath towel and 1 wash cloth per person the house sleeps, 2 hand towels per full bathroom, 1 hand towel per half bathroom, and a bath mat for each shower or tub.

Booking: During the booking process you will be asked to enter a credit card number, nothing will be charged to this card. You will receive an email 24 hours after booking with instructions to log on to the guest web to electronically sign your lease agreement and make your advance payment. You will have 10 days to sign your lease agreement and pay your advance payment to avoid cancellation.

Your final payment will be due 30 days prior to arrival. Reservations booked within 45 days of arrival will have 72 hours to sign the lease agreement and submit payment in full.

Beautiful view

We had an amazing time. The location of this property is spot on. Very spacious with amazing view. Pool and hot tub really kept the kids busy.

My daughter and I booked this property last September, 2021 for a family vacation since we had been separated by the Canadian/US border for so long due to the pandemic. We were very excited when we drove up and saw the beautiful view. But upon enetering the home we noticed a lot of things that we felt were not up to snuff. There was no soap in any of the bathrooms. If you wanted to wash your hands after travel, could not do it. All of the patio doors were dirty from the previous stay, we quickly realized that with the salt and sand it is difficult to keep the windows clean, but those windows had not been cleaned in a long time, but there is no excuse for hand prints. So we cleaned the doors ourselves. My grandkids were staying in the bunk bed room. There was glass at the end of the beds. My daughter proceeded to vacuum that level. We also found glass on the kitchen floor. The bathrooms and the kitchen were well cleaned, but the carpet in all the bedrooms were stained, the great room carpet was very dirty. One of the bedspreads was torn. I found a hair ball in my bed. My dust ruffle was very dirty. It is such a beautiful home, but we felt it could be better maintained. We picked up garbage around the pool area.

A family vacation we'll always remember

My family planned our vacation to the Outer Banks a year in advance. To celebrate my parents' 40th wedding anniversary my sister and I planned this trip so the whole family (coming from various cities) could spend a week together. We talked about the trip incessantly for the year leading up to it. I tell you all of this so you know- our expectations were insanely high. The house at the End of the Rainbow exceeded all of them. We had the most amazing week in this house and the only disappointment was that we had to leave. It is just as gorgeous as the photos suggest it is. The view from the third floor are breathtaking. Watching the sunrise over the ocean every morning was a treat. We had six adults and five kids in the house and there was more than enough space. The kids loved the pool. The adults loved hot tubbing under the stars. We all loved the proximity to the beautiful beach. The house was clean, the beds were comfortable, and the kitchen was incredible. It had absolutely everything we could want or need. We also loved the huge dining table where we could all gather for meals together. The outdoor shower was a great perk after a long afternoon at the beach. We all loved walking to Dairy Queen right down the road after dinner. One thing I would alert potential renters to- the walk to the beach is short, but not easy. The dunes in front of the house are high and can be difficult to get over. This wasn't a problem for anyone in our party, but I can imagine if someone had any kind of mobility impairment or difficulty walking this could pose a challenge. We loved this house and are so grateful for the time we spent there. It's a vacation we'll remember forever!

Many thanks for the great review! We are very happy End of the Rainbow was everything you hoped for and more. One note about the dunes - when we go to the beach (and we are over 70), we go to the south and cross over a path that is at the end of Island Pine Dr. It is a short walk and the path is lower and easier to use.

Had potential, fell short very short

This post will start with the setup that I needed a home with an elevator for a guest in my party with a disability…..landed a property through VRBO with Brindley Beach Vacations in the outerbanks that claimed handicap friendly with an elevator. 24hrs in advance they let me know the elevator was not functional, I worked with them for an additional couple of hours to find a replacement home with a functioning elevator. Get to that home on check-in day and floors were not clean, 2 of 5 toilets were not clean, one room had 100+ sand burs in the carpet, could not walk barefoot in that room. “Hot tub ready” hot tub was not usable; had not received chemical treatment in quite some time, yellowish green water not heated. To make matters worse, the elevator stopped working, with one of my guests in it, on the second trip down. He was trapped for an hour before we figured out how to get him out as we contacted the property group and they were not going to be able to come out until the next day. an ADDITIONAL day passed before we were able to get an elevator tech sent to the property to fix it, which meant we had to carry our guest up and down the stairs for half of our stay. I am thoroughly disappointed with the management of the cleanliness and elevator emergency we experienced by Brindley. I will not rent from them again, I am pleased that VRBO includes the names of the companies that are “hosting” the homes to help make this an avoidable mistake in the future.

Where not to go with children in November

House was nice. Security was lax as downstairs windows all left unlocked. Daily job to sweep up roaches. No response from property manager. Last minute strong arm tactics to change location due to oven not working. Although we were very disappointed that we had no oven for Thanksgiving dinner ....seems we were the only ones. Refund received and accepted. Upstairs deck has some loose and weak rails. Having small children that should be checked before clients arrival. I would be sharing my enjoyment of this property should your company shared .. what is available on your stay . For little ones nothing . Everything being seasonal and closed would have been appreciated. Thank you for this opportunity to vent. If you have a good marketing person this will never be seen . gsReed

A week in Waves

We had a great week at End of the Rainbow. The location is wonderful right on the beach. I have been to the outer banks many times but had never stayed this far south. We absolutely loved it. The house is just as pictured. My only complaint, the outdoor space, lower level deck area, was not cleaned up when we arrived. The house however was very clean. We will definitely return.

A nice house that needs maintained better

Our four families booked this house. It is a great location & has everything to keep kids entertained. Would have rated this house a bit higher, but we do not feel the house was cleaned well AT ALL before our stay. Floors were still very dirty in the corners, lots of things needed wiped down, bedding didn't look washed, etc. I feel that the money you are spending housekeeping should do a lot better of a job. The refrigerator downstairs did not work properly and our families could hardly fit all of our food upstairs so we had to use our coolers the whole stay. Not to mention it smelled like fish… The weeds out around the pool were RIDICULOUS. On top of that, there was little prickles that grew in the them so they were getting tracked all throughout the house and everyone kept stepping on them. OUCH!! Looked next door and they did not have a single weed so I definitely think that is something that just needs kept up with way better. All in all, I still think this is a great house but wondering if one of the houses in the area is a better deal for next time if they are maintained better!

The inside was well decorated and easily large enough for 14 people. Upon arrival they were still cleaning (we were a few minutes early so we were just hanging in the driveway). The cleaning company said they would have the old grill removed and another trash can delivered as both of the ones there were already full (neither of these happened during our week). We also had many toilets that had loose toilet seat lids on at least 2 of the bathrooms, and fans were really dusty. Outside the furniture could use a good cleaning as many were moldy, the steps to the hot tub were dry rotted and one of the planks fell off completely. The outside handrail going from the bottom to the middle floor was really loose as well. I was glad I read the review about the prickers as we found many inside even after the cleaning people left (they are very pointy and the vacuum wasn't strong enough to pick them up).

Amazing location!!

Location and house were beautiful!!! The views from the top deck were gorgeous! We used the rental place that was recommended for surf boards, beach chairs etc and they had our stuff there waiting for us the day we arrived! The house was the perfect size.. the location cannot be beat. The beach was not crowded, had nice beach fires at night. There is an RV park next door but there were very quiet no issues whatsoever.Had to take 1 star away because the grill was not working and we never did get it fixed, and the pool lights were not working either but they were quickly fixed which was wonderful. House has everything you need, but the wall oven and dishwasher could probably be replaced. The oven digital part looked like it was partially working, couldn't read the temp exactly and the dishwasher had to be on auto cycle or it would give a code. Small things compared to everything else. Would definitely rent again! Shore details left us a care package starter kit which was nice also.

Amazing location PERFECT for families

Honestly this house had exactly everything we were looking for. The suite downstairs was perfect for my sister and her 1 and year olds. The bedrooms all have their own bathroom, huge plus on a family vacation. Outdoor shower, heated pool, hot tub, and right on the beach. We will certainly be back.

This house was perfect for our family of 9 adults, a 5 year old, 2 toddlers, and an infant. The kitchen was well stocked with all the necessities. Shore Details, the property manager, was quick to respond and was very helpful as we planned our trip. The house was clean but seems to be aging a bit and could use a refresh here and there but nothing that kept us from having a good time. The dish network was a little difficult to figure out. You need to power in the TV and the dish network using each of the remotes.. then using the dish remote you have to hit guide and this brings you to the channels. The wifi is iffy but this is all over the island so plan for interruptions. We had an outage that lasted 3-4 days of our trip so the infant monitors we brought didn't work. Don't walk barefoot between the houses on the path to the beach. There are small plants with prickers and man they hurt! They also get brought in the house on your shoes and each of us stepped on at least one indoors. We kept a look out for them and picked them up off the floors/rugs. There is a food lion about 20 minutes away that is well stocked and have affordable prices. We over packed food and know next time we can just make a run to stock up rather than over packing our vehicle. Everyone we encountered was super friendly! Overall we had a great trip! This was our first time in the Outer Banks and there were lessons learned for our next trip down.

House accommodated 2 families of 4 each beautifully!! (room to spare for sure but bigger kids loved not having to share. Kids ages 6, 7 and 2 10 yr) Gorgeous views… a perfect rainbow on our last day, a full moon and dolphins!! Was a bit nervous about the campground next door being loud etc but no troubles at all with that! Very pleased with the amenities… pool and hot tub were perfect plenty of seating etc. Would definitely recommend The end of the rainbow to anyone

The Perfect Vacation Home!

This house was perfect for our family's recent trip to the OBX! The house was clean, and we loved the new kitchen! The kitchen has everything you could possibly need to prepare meals. The bedrooms are all so comfortable and it's wonderful each bedroom has it's own bathroom. Unfortunately it rained most of the week we were there, but the views of the ocean during the storms was breathtaking! It was a bit chilly to use the pool, but the hot tub was a favorite throughout the week. Dennis was a pleasure to work with, as we had to change the dates due to the bridge being closed. We would absolutely rent this home again, and we look forward to returning to this home in the future!

Dune Overwash Occurs Regularly in this Area

We learned the definition of 'overwash' according to NCDOT the hard way as high-tide, full moon and storm off the coast combined to wash dunes over the road and closed the road for 3 days while we were in town (up north) on the opposite side of the closure. We were unable to stay at the property or get to our belongings. We had to buy new clothes, toiletries and eat out for every meal after we had fully stocked the house with groceries in order to wait for the road to open and retrieve our belongings. We had difficulty securing hotels each night. The owner requires trip cancellation protection only, and then advises to purchase trip interruption protection. Sadly, the trip interruption protection is twice the cost of the cancellation and is an additional policy. If you as a tourist do not understand the regularity of overwash closure in this area, you would never know that you should be required to purchase the trip cancellation insurance. (You would never know the danger of leaving the rental home in overcast weather to go shopping or putt-putt either unless I post this.) We purchased the trip cancellation, but this policy expires at check-in. Unfortunately, trip interruption doesn't cover expenses when you can't leave and must stay in hotels to be near your stuff. Please note, the combination of storm, high-tide (daily) and full moon (monthly) is not uncommon and can happen regularly in this area. Less important note worth mentioning is the 'heated' pool is solar heated, so if no sun, then no warmth. The one day of sun did not warm the water enough to swim that day either. We went to the beach for a week and our kids did not swim except in the indoor hotel pools. We weren't sure if the junk on the side of the road all through Rodanthe/Waves/Avon was from the hurricane, but there was a lot of scrap metal, washers, refrigs, hot water heaters piled up and looked as if they had been there a while by the rust. Stay at the southern portion of the outer banks at your own risk. NCDOT is building a 'jug-handle' bridge in Rodanthe because of the overwach problem; however, it is not even a 1/10th long enough as they will continue to have this problem unless a bridge connects Oregon Inlet to Rodanthe.

First let me say that we are very sorry for what this guest and his family experienced. We did talk with the guest while this was going on and arranged for help for them to get their belongings from the house. Since the road was closed, they took the creative approach of hiring a fishing charter to bring them to Hatteras Island and we arranged for someone to pick them up, get them to the house and then back to the boat with their belongings. As to the travel insurance, we make it very clear that, if renters want to be completely protected during their trip, they should NOT buy travel insurance through VRBO. VRBO does NOT cover trip interruption coverage. They should purchase it through an insurer who covers trip cancellation, trip interruption and travel delay in a single policy. We have a standard letter with important information about travel insurance that includes a link to purchase the right insurance. The guest got this letter when he booked. If the guest had purchased travel insurance from the recommended company, he would most likely have been covered (based on my conversation with the insurance company). The comment about the solar heater is correct. If there is no sun, there is no warming. It does not provide the same level of heat as a propane heater, but it does provide supplemental heat on sunny days. Several years ago, we changed to solar heat because propane heat was much more expensive to the guests. The junk, appliances, etc. on the side of the road are the result of flooding damage from Hurricane Dorian which hit Hatteras Island in early September. Dare County has folks leave their damaged items by the side of the road and then picks them up. They had not completed this large job by the time this guest arrived. In our 25 years of coming to the Outer Banks, we have found Highway 12 closed due to ocean overwash an uncommon occurrence. The jug-handle bridge the guest mentions will bypass the most common location where this occurs, the area just north of Rodanthe. It will be completed in late 2020 or early 2021. Again, we are very sorry for what happened to this guest and his family. It is not something we would wish on anyone.

Carolina On My Mind

The house was everything as advertised. Check in/out was simple, elevator was helpful & the instruction/guide book provided many answers to basic questions. The morning sunrise view from the top deck was outstanding while enjoying my coffee. Even better was the moon rise late at night over the Atlantic (never seen that before). The walk to the beach was close and the beach was beautiful. Many in our group were out there everyday. All of the rooms were nice size including the kitchen/dining/living. Plenty of outside furniture around the pool & top deck. We had such a fun time with our friends listening to music, playing games and experiencing the OBX. Hope to come back again. I can’t say enough how nice this house is, with the sounds of waves at your doorstep and gorgeous views.
