Sitka By the Sea


This beautiful log home is situated just two blocks from the quiet end of the beach in south Manzanita and across the street from Nehalem Bay State Park, a four-mile sand spit with forested trails. You’ll enjoy fantastic natural views, abundant wildlife, and opportunities to kayak, fish, and crab right out your door. Charming, bright, and cheerful, Sitka by the Sea has golden floors and a river-rock electric fireplace in the living room. Plush furniture and wall-mounted TV provide a cozy place for evening relaxation. A dining room adjoins the fully-equipped kitchen, with a window over the sink to let the cook keep an eye on kids in the play structure in the backyard. The backyard is perfect for a family gathering with a new BBQ, and relaxing gazebo. Enjoy a morning cup of coffee or an evening glass of wine on the huge deck or challenge a guest to a game of ping-pong or foosball in the game room of the renovated garage.

Three queen beds make it easy to invite guests to join you. Enter the spacious upstairs room through the master bedroom and be pleased by a TV, skylight, vaulted ceiling, and a twin bunk bed perfect for a family. Two twin beds grace a sweet kids’ bedroom perfect for the little ones. When you need a home with nostalgic appeal, loads of amenities, kid-pleasing fun, and access to the beach, Sitka By the Sea is close to perfect. Add the quiet and beauty of a vast coastal state park right across the street, and perfection is yours!

A great house for a beach trip with the kiddos! It was a short walk to the beach and the house came stocked full of beach toys to bring. The play room was a great place to play after a fun day out. Highly recommend this place! All the rooms were spacious and comfortable.

The location was great and we enjoyed going to the beach and being close enough to downtown to walk to it. Unfortunately, we were not able to use one of the rooms after our first night due to a bat that had found its way into the room. After our stay, we went into the room and found feces and urine on the beds and other places in the room from some kind of pest. The cleanliness of the house was not so great; it looked like no one had swept under the beds and other furniture for a long time. Some of the pieces of furniture were old and falling apart, and a chair broke while my daughter was just sitting in it. We recommended that the owners examine all of the furniture and test it to make sure it was sturdy. After registering all of these complaints, we were happy that we were refunded for part of our stay. We would be happy to stay in the house again if the above issues were addressed: rodent and bat presence, cleanliness, replacing unsturdy furniture.

Family Reunion at the Beach

This is a great property and wonderful location - easy walks to the beach, to the golf course, to the town. We were there for a family reunion honoring our 95 year old mother in law. We had hoped to check in an hour early so we could be at the picnic with everyone but were told they needed the full time to be able to ensure the property was clean. When we checked in later that night we kept finding candy wrappers and a couple paper towels on the floor in corners. There was a laundry basket of sheets that were not folded so I assume they were dirty and the corners had a lot of human hair clumps. It was easy enough to clean ourselves but to be told there was no way we could check in earlier so the property would be cleaned seemed a disappointing excuse. Even with that hiccup it really is a great location and Manzanita is a beautiful and fun location.

Overall, we had a comfortable and pleasant stay. We enjoyed that the beach was close by and had fun playing ping-pong and darts in the game room.This converted double-wide has seen better days but was fine for our needs.

Good place to stay

We had a nice time. The house is very spacious, and has all the essentials. The backyard was a bit disappointing, it could use some maintenance and cleaning. Especially given it’s framed as kid friendly; there was dog poop; old rusty nails; the chairs were broken;… all in all still a good stay but the house is clearly a rental.

Quiet by the beach

Nice and tucked in at the end of manzanita town. It was still easy to walk to shops and a quick 2 blocks to the beach. The interesting layout to the upstairs room was slightly inconvenient but we managed. Kitchen had everything we needed and enough dishes for each day and we enjoyed grilling as well. Overall a good stay for families with games and ping pong.

Good for a group

We stayed with friends and our kids. The space was good for a group with a separate area for the loud teens :) We had planned on grilling but the propane tank was empty :( That is an amenity that should probably be double checked as it through a real wrench into our first night. Good game room, close to town and beach. Overall, a nice place to stay.
