I know the Seabreeze well, having stayed in Unit 7 and Unit 10 on previous vacations. It is a wonderful building, built in the 1960s, located directly on the ocean with unparalleled views. Unit 7 received a total remodel shortly before we rented it and Unit 10 had not been remodeled, but everything worked. Unit 6, however, is in great need of a remodel and lots of things didn’t work. The first problem occurred shortly after we arrived, when the elevator periodically stopped working on January 5-8, then again on January 11th, then again on January 19-20. It needs a new elevator. At first glance, all the windows were dirty, several windows on the west side of the unit could not be opened, which defeats the natural flow of air through the unit (there is no air conditioning unit). The carpets needed cleaning. There are no cushions on the chairs on the deck (we borrowed some from the living room). The living room is very poorly lit, desperately needing some floor lamps. In the kitchen, some of the old plywood drawers were very difficult to open. In the master bedroom, one of the two lamps is in need of repair or replacement and the television could only be turned on and tuned with the manual button under the set. In the bathroom, the toilet paper fixture is misplaced. In the guest bedroom, there are no TV remote control units and we were without a functioning sink for a week and a half. On a windy night, the window screen over the bed blew in, landing on the pillow of the bed. Fortunately, the one occupant of the guest room was sleeping in the other bed. Had anyone been sleeping in that bed, they could have been severely injured. For the price we were paying, we expected better.
