The lake view was very nice and the lake was very quiet with few motorized vessels. Rooms needed only minimal arrangement. Air conditioning was effectively placed to maintain our comfort. Host responded to our questions.Don Scott

Beautiful but rustic property. Beautiful lake views from the house. Nice quiet, peaceful lake loved sitting out on the dock in the morning. Had a great family time here! We were here during a heat wave so there were times when it was very hot without AC in the main area. But there are plenty of fans and AC units in three of the bedrooms. What a perfect setting!! The owner is lovely to work with. The home is charming and spacious and just perfect for a group to gather..and it comes with a touching history too!

Our large family just finished a spectacular 7-night stay at this amazing 5-bedroom waterfront home, this was truly a vacation to remember. We had a large group come and go throughout the week and the home was perfect for everyone. The lake house is incredibly specious, well maintained & perfectly equipped with everything you could want. The layout gave everyone plenty of space to relax both together & individually. We spent our days soaking up the sun, kayaking, paddle boarding, boating and floating on our 20' Unicorn Float (Malory). Seeing my adult children & their spouses & my teenage children out on the water having the absolute time of their lives made this trip that much better. The two docks were a bonus. The guys loved fishing and caught quite a bit of fish during the week. On rainy days we still went swimming and then we all gathered at the big dinning room table and played a variety of games and laughed till our stomachs hurt. It was truly perfect! We even did a themed Hawaiian night, It was fabulous!The host was wonderful to deal with, check-in was easy, there was even enough parking for all of us.If you're looking for the perfect lakefront getaway on a gorgeous lake and enough space for a whole family to have a blast and make amazing memories, this is it!!! We can not recommend it enough. We can NOT WAIT to go back!!!Thank you Steven for letting us use your amazing home!!!

Great location and plenty of space and the house is stocked with games and water toys. Steven was a pleasure to deal with and a great host. This was our 3rd year renting and looking forward to next year.

It has always been a pleasure repeat hosting Richard and family. He is very responsive, personable with communications. Their group/ family are easy wear on the house and always leaves the house in good order. Everything one would want in a repeat customer.

Great place on a beautiful lake

I spent a week here with a couple of my fishing buddies. Plenty of room for everyone. Parking with a trailer is a little tricky but we where able to park 3 trucks and one trailer. Only issue I had was not enough lighting in the basement but that's just splitting hairs. I would definitely stay here again.

A perfect house and location for a summer vacation with family and friends!

We went swimming and boating every day, went to Mass MOCA, Jacobs Pillow, the fish hatchery, Gould’s Farm, Bish Bash Falls and biking, and finally hiking on Appalachian trail. Everything is so close by. Steven was extremely responsive whenever I had a question. I would highly recommend this house for anyone looking for a lake get away in the Berkshires!

Rustic charm

This is a relaxing family home full of wonderful and unique knick knacks and vintage items. It has a great kitchen with everything you need and a dining room and two decks overlooking the serene lake. The beds are very comfortable and there are individual heating controls in each room. It is cozy and comfortable with its own charm that grows on you. And of course there are the beautiful Berkshires and Great Barrington to explore all around.

Tranquil and Relaxing

A very lovely home with a beautiful view of Lake Garfield. The surrounding area is very quiet. The house itself has so much room to spread out for a family of 5 adults and also be together at the large dining room table and large living room. The kitchen was well stocked with pots, pans , dishes, etc. There is no AC in the main living area, but there are plenty of fans to keep it comfortable . And there’s always the beautiful front porch to sit on to feel the cooler air from the woods and the lake. Thanks again for sharing your beautiful family home with us!

relaxing holiday in lovely lakeside house

Spacious house, grounds, and location on the lake are beautiful, we loved the availability of canoes, and the place was great for cooking, dining, and relaxing. We did feel that (especially in this Covid era) the house could use more thorough (professional?) cleaning, for which some 24hour gap between guests might be necessary. It would also be great if host could provide professionally laundered linen. We were alarmed one day when a tree fell at the lakeside (in calm weather conditions). But Steven is a responsive and responsible host and we trust he'll take good care of everything in the future.

We did our best to accommodate this renters expectation of both early arrival and late departure, I could not move on late departure as I told her that especially during this Covid period our cleaner needs the time to fulfill the extra disinfection and cleaning needs. This renter did not bring towels nor linen so I let them use our personal linens and towels, and adopted her recommendation to put in all caps GUEST PROVIDE LINENS AND TOWELS, replacing the former description of not providing linens nor towels. The dead white birch tree falling into the lake, though alarming to me is was yards off of this rental property. We seasonally prune and groom the rental property trees and underbrush.

Great house, beautiful lake, lots of stairs.

My family had an incredible week at this lake house! The house itself is filled with amenities, including travel essentials in case you forgot anything and a full first-aid kit. The game closet was stocked with options for all ages and tastes, entertaining our 9 and 13-year-olds, as well as the adults.The view from the porch was amazing, and we enjoyed many meals there. We loved having separate docks for swimming and fishing, and we were grateful for access to the boats. The lake was beautiful! We spent hours swimming, fishing, and boating. The owner was very responsive and kind.Just a heads-up: this is a six-level split-level house with even more steps down to the lake, so it's not ideal for those with bad knees. Also, as an older home by the lake, it had a "camp clean" feel, meaning we saw a few bugs and ants here and there. Nothing problematic or invasive, just what you'd expect. The only other downside was that only two rooms had air conditioning, making the other rooms a bit warm at night, even with fans.

Return Family Getaway

This is our second time at Steven’s house. Our family (husband and I along with 2 grown kids and their partners) plans a yearly getaway somewhere different every year. We had such a lovely few days at the lake pre-COVID, we decided to return for this year’s getaway. This time we spent a full week. Steven has the ultimate lake house. When you think of a family lake house, this is what you think of. The lake is clear, beautiful, and peaceful. Coffee every morning on the dock- a great way to start the day. All 6 of us spent some time on either the boards or the kayaks. Son in law did some catch and release right from the dock. Cooked some great family meals in the very spacious, well stocked kitchen. Plenty of bedrooms and bathrooms for 3 couples and lots of space to just spread out and play some euchre. Add a couple nice drives around the surrounding hills and towns to see the local sights and you have a great week! Thank you, Steven. My family and I had a very nice, very relaxing time together. Your hospitality is kind, your responsiveness is timely, and we felt right at home.

Exactly as pictured and described on the VRBO site. Just what I was hoping to find in Montereyfor in

The house is awesome. Comfortable, well furnished, interesting design without being fussy. Lots of space to spend time with family, lots of places to escape to for some "me time". Every bed is comfortable, the showers have good pressure, the kitchen is fully equipped and we took advantage of the grill. I enjoyed coffee and a crossword puzzle on the deck at 6 am every morning. Loved watching the sun appear as the fishermen drifted by. 4 of my teenage nieces/nephews arrived to spend a day on Saturday. Following a tour of the house and it's many nooks and crannies, the phones and other devices were abandoned in favor of a rousing game of hide and seek.....I loved that time with the kids. We had a delicious meal at Koi Chinese Restaurant in Great Barrington and saw a play in Pittsfield. The owners made themselves available by text or phone to help as needed and were both gracious and accommodating. One word of advice-we has some trouble finding the house on a dark and rainy night. I finally tried the app WAZE and it took me right to the front door. I will definitely be back again in the summer. Thank you again for sharing your home with us.

Monterey stay

We really like Lake Garfield, and the house had very good access to the lake. The house is somewhat tired, and there were some things that could use attention like lamps and bulbs that didn't work, but the host was very responsive and we had an enjoyable week.

Peaceful Vacation

House has a great balcony to enjoy the view of the lake and has great privacy, yet close enough to groceries, shopping, and good restaurants, (15 minutes away). Our family loved paddle boarding and using the row boat. The two docks provided easy access and views of the lake. Our family of eight totally enjoyed our peaceful week.

この宿泊施設のオーナーになった理由

This Berkshire family lake house has been my family for over 60 years. My parents and siblings cleared the property and helped build the house. Through the years we have added to the house and made many improvements. Making many great memories along the way. Some of my fondest memories were at this lake house with many friends and family. My parents motto was more the merrier. After their passing I purchased the house to keep it in the family and keep up the tradition my parents started as a place for families and friends to gather making and share great times together. Kathleen and I hope you enjoy our lake house as much as we have.

この宿泊施設の特徴

We are right on the lake and in a private location. You are looking down at the water from the house front deck. we own two full lots with non-build-able properties to either side, effectively our house is at the end of the road. Two large platform docks, one of which has walk-in access to a sandy beach. Lots of water toys, great swimming, fishing, boating, If you have a motor boat/ski-boat you can tie-off at larger platform dock where the water is deeper off the dock.
