First, the communication with the property owner was excellent, she was very responsive to our needs/concerns. Presumably the fault of the property condition falls on the property management company.
When we arrived we found a few issues with the house - some that could have been a day/days old issue and others that clearly take time to happen.
For example, and as recently read in previous posts, none of the sliding doors had locks that worked - they are all broken, you had to put sticks in the tracks to prevent anyone from coming inside.
Some of the carpeting had some older stains in it (Now knowing where they are, you can see them in the listing photos).
The garbage disposal didn't work (which when contacted, the owner had a plumber out the next day to fix it).
The TV's in some of the bedrooms didn't work.
The upper deck had nails that were sticking up out of the deck, along with a metal rocking chair that had rusted so bad that someone had FALLEN though it prior to us arriving.
In the upstairs main master bedroom (South East) there was a leak in the ceiling from (presumably) the roof... There was about a 10' water spot on the ceiling that had BLACK MOLD that started to grow (I sent a photo of it to the owner, and she said that they would take care of it).
Just about every screen on the main back porch was ripped and flapping in the wind.
Quite a few of the decking boards are completely shot and need to be replaced.
Finally, the handrails that are going into and out of the pool have the bolts pulled almost all of the way out making them quite shaky.
Overall the location is great,
The owner was responsive and easy to work with, etc.,
The view was nice, and the beach was great;
However, the house is in desperate need of attention - It's disappointing and frankly embarrassing to pay thousands of dollars to rent a beach house for a week to take family and friends on a vacation and you have to deal with neglected maintenance items like this.
We'll be back to Ft. Morgan/Gulf Shores, but we won't be staying here again.
