Makapu'u Hale is 2 bedrooms, 2 baths, newly decorated with comfortable & charming beach decor with ocean breezes and split A/C units. The home has been recently updated and features large, open concept kitchen and amazing ocean views from the living room area. Our guests enjoy dining island style on the large outdoor deck area with sweeping views of the crystal blue ocean.

When you step outside on your lanai (porch), you’ll discover the enticing ocean breezes & VIEWS of 7 ISLANDS including: Lanai, Molokai, Mañana aka Rabbit Island, Kaohikaipu aka Black Rock Island, Mokulua Islands & Moku Manu Island…! You can see the Hawaiian sunrise every single day of the year … Plan your days at the beach snorkeling, sea shell hunting or just lounging & sunbathing then enjoy a rinse off in your outdoor hot water shower after you're done. We provide you with a washer & drier with laundry soap to keep your beach clothes clean for the next adventure!

The lush yard of tropical delights including swaying coconut trees & tropical flowers, like the native-Hawaiian “half-flower” Naupaka & red ginger, kid- & adult-friendly swings, hot tub, sitting benches & hammocks are for your pleasure! :)

A month in paradise

We loved this property and our stay in Hawaii. It is the perfect getaway location with easy access to everything. Kalama O is incredibly helpful and attentive. The property is breathtaking and holds everything you would want from a visit to Hawaii. We will definitely return!

Perfect introduction on our first ever visit

We don't believe we could have chosen a better place to accommodate our first visit to Hawaii. Central to all we wanted to see yet secluded and private. The owner was always gracious and accommodating. Thank you for making this such a great visit.

Beautiful home and views!

We had an amazing vacation staying here! The house is beautiful and had everything we needed for a great stay. We spent a lot of time in the yard, laying in the hammock and taking in the breathtaking views of the ocean. We spent a few days at the beach and the owner also had everything we needed including chairs, umbrella,cooler, sand toys, and body board! This truly was a dream vacation!

Can’t find a better place

This place was magical. We are in Hawaii for two weeks but only stayed here for a couple of nights. I would have been happy spending the entire two weeks here. I can’t believe this place even exists. Might seem pricey at first but it’s actually an amazing value for what you get. I will always pine to return!

Tropical Home Away from Home!

Looking for a fabulous family cottage... then look no further. The photos give a very accurate portrayal of the property. House was clean and well stocked in the kitchen with all the necessities. Snorkelling off the beach property was great... sea turtles abound. The location was perfect for day-trips to the North Shore or South to Waikiki. Lots of local adventures too. If you are extremely lucky you'll meet up with Mike (the owner) and take a ride on his outrigger boat! We would definitely recommend this property to friends and plan to return again on our next trip to Oahu'.

Relax to the sound of waves in your private bungalow!

This property is one of the best we've ever rented for many reasons. The bungalow is very private, well-appointed and includes so many little extras that show a high level of hospitality and consideration for guests. There is a private and small beach area for the residents of the three rentals on the grounds. There are lots of brightly colored fish near the pier if you care to snorkel and there was an assorted selection of beach gear for our use. We grilled steaks one night and of course, a bag of charcoal was thoughtfully tucked in the grill for us. There is a great outdoor eating area and a very relaxing hammock that we used for more than one nap! I would not even think of staying in Honolulu after our time here!

Absolutely AMAZING!!!

Makapu'u Hale is an Amazing place. Our 2 weeks in this home will last a lifetime! This was our 2nd trip to Oahu and the 1st for my sister-in-law and her husband....and we picked the MOST PERFECT place to show them what ALOHA means! The views are incredible......sunrise was our Favorite time to sit in the swing, or walk the pier and beach. The Hale is beautifully and completely furnished with anything and everything needed, and Waimanalo has a very friendly small town atmosphere. Mike, the property owner, is great to visit with and very informative on entertainment spots and dining......and he is an awesome sailing captain.....another incredible adventure we will never forget! Kalia, the property manager, is a wonderful asset to the property! We enjoyed his visits as well as his attentiveness to making sure everything was always in top shape! Modern, spacious, clean, and next to the water

Large, well appointed rooms. Modern kitchen and air conditioning in each of the bedrooms and living area, as well as ceiling fans. Large view windows. Large porch with table, chairs, lounge chairs and a hot tub. Outdoor shower for after your walk on the small beach or out to the end of the pier. Waves at night are only smaller waves, since the larger waves break hundreds of yards off shore. Safe shallow ocean play area for the kids, or deeper if desired, out further. Off the beaten path feel, though right off a main road. Grocery store a few minutes drive. Large TV. Hammock and 2 person bench swing. We loved our stay here and highly recommend it. Oh, you will park in the neighboring home’s garage, so don’t try to unlock the house attached to the garage like we did. One quick call to the manager and we learned our rental was the cottage next door to the one where we park the car, the last cottage in the strip of three. Try this place once and you’ll want to return.

Amazing!!

We recently stayed here with our two children as well as my parents and we all loved it! The house was very clean and very well stocked with things for us to use which was a big plus. We did a lot of snorkeling which was nice to just be able to jump in the water right at the house. We are already trying to plan our next trip that we can come back to this amazing house!

So relaxing!

This property is beautiful! We wanted to stay away from the hustle of Honolulu and this location was perfect. Very quiet and peaceful and we were able to drive about 20 minutes to Kailua for restuarants, shopping, etc. I loved always being able to hear the ocean waves rolling in. We reached out with a question after check in and received a quick response. The beach in front of the property was very nice and I snorkeled out along the pier and saw some fish. Great stay!

Finally a real vacation!

What a wonderful getaway! Waking up hearing the sounds and smell of the ocean, being able to walk right out to the beach, going for an outrigger ride with Mike, going on nearby hikes, eating local food and staying in more of a real Hawaiian home are what made this experience special and hard to come by on Oahu. Thank you for making this possible!

Best Rental property on island!

This place is unbeatable! Best in the island! Super clean, comfortable, and ON the beach! Beach is super mellow! Perfect for little kids! The owner Mike lives next door. Super friendly local guy! Even gave us a ride on his boat! Trust me when I tell you if you’re coming to Oahu this is the spot/area you’ll want to be in! They don’t have the two twin beds pictured but they ARE in the living room up against two giants windows giving you top notch views during your stay!

A magical spot!

Our stay at Makapu'u Hale was beyond our expectations. The ocean practically comes right up to your feet as you relax on the porch, hammock or in the hot tub. The wave sounds lull you to sleep every night. And easy beach/water access is available right on the same property (not to mention the pier that is so refreshing to walk out on and enjoy the ever changing sea views). Great snorkeling right from your own beach is an amazing benefit that we didn't realize we'd use so much! The house setup with renovated kitchen & main bath, is fantastic and quiet high-quality air conditioning is much appreciated on those nights when the temp or humidity calls for it. Beds were very comfortable and TV, Wifi, etc. all worked great. We worked remotely from this beautiful spot many days during the 2020 pandemic quarantine period. The entrance is a driveway immediately off the main road, which is great to get anywhere you need to go. You might go by it and have to turn around the first time, but it's easy once you have some visual landmarks figured out. A new driveway has been added in the past year or two, which is not currently shown on Google satellite. This makes entry/egress even more convenient than in the past, and some of the old comments about figuring out where to park are now outdated. The location is about the same driving distance from Hawaii Kai and Kailua, so all of the amenities in either of those spots are readily available, with Honolulu not much further of course. Kalama & Mike were tremendous hosts. Immediately helpful whenever we had a question, but not intrusive in the slightest. If you're comparing this property to any other property that's NOT on the water (assuming the size fits your needs), don't hesitate and just book it. If comparing this property to other oceanfront, it's a terrific choice. If you love swimming & snorkeling, it probably beats most other locations for ease of access. There is plenty of beach to sit out on (& chairs provided), but not an expansive deep beach area if that makes a difference to you. Beachfront quietness & privacy is likely superior here to most spots in Lanikai or Kailua due to there not being any public access spots very close by. As you can tell, Makapu'u Hale is an amazing choice for your stay!

A little Slice of Heaven

Our family stayed here for a week and we are in awe. Getting up each morning with a cup of coffee (coffee was already in the home) and sitting on the deck watching the sun rise and listening to the ocean..... Access to the beach is private, you will only see people that are just walking up and down the beach which was not often. House had everything you needed for the beach, chairs, towels, body boards and all the snorkel gear. The owner is a couple houses down and has a boat that he likes to go out on when he can, if you are joining him a tip is a very nice jester. The boat rides were some of our highlights of the stay, just indescribable, what a magical place to stay. Thank you for everything

Great house for my family

The house was great. It is a little difficult to find since the directions are different that what’s there. We drive right past it 3 times since red markers on the check in instructions weren’t there. However the house is great. The property itself is wonderful. I enjoyed coffee on the private pier each morning. The location of the property doesn’t seem to be the best. A homeless encampment is across the road and another is down the road about a mile or two. Overall we would stay there again.

Little Slice of Heaven

Wife and I stayed here for the 1st 4 days of our trip before the rest of the family flew in. If your looking for a simple quiet place to stay this is it. View, sunrise, hot tub, swing and hammock were all amazing. Only recommendation to the owner would be a new set of fry pans, the teflon Is pealing off. We certainly would stay here again.

AMAZING

This property is so beautiful. Right on the ocean, watched a beautiful sunset every morning from the pier. Had a little confusion on parking upon arrival but was able to talk to someone right away to help us figure it out. Great kitchen had all the immensities we needed. Bathrooms were awesome. My favorite part was eating breakfast on the open patio every morning. Would highly recommend.
