Welcome to Castaways 9C!

Castaways in Gulf Shores is ideally located within walking distance to popular restaurants and shops. Enjoy the spectacular views of the private pool, the beach, and the gulf from your very own covered balcony of this gulf front 2BR/2BA, 9th floor level condo on scenic East Beach. There are only 36 units in this low density complex. Stores, shopping, and restaurants are just minutes away. The Hangout restaurant and the Pink Pony Pub are only a short walk up the beach. Condo has FREE Wi-Fi so don't forget your laptop!

The thermostat allows cooling to a minimum of 70 degrees; heating to 74, system disable w balcony door open > 5min.. Tampering with system is a guest charge.

Unique gulf front pool with fountain is both outside and covered area under the building by seating and tables. Rest room available poolside also. Outside lounge seating poolside and covered seating/table areas available too.

Bedding consists of:
Master: King
2nd Bedroom: 2 Twins
Sleepsofa: Queen

Approx Area: 1,220 Sq Ft

Condo is fully equipped, with 3 Flat Screen TVs (living room and both bedrooms) with 2 DVDs. Fully equipped kitchen with all appliances; full size HE Washer & Dryer in unit too!

Gulf Shores Alabama Beach Front Vacation Rental

Parking pass required; $42 per vehicle(2 Max). Parking can be very tight for large/oversize vehicles in season. Some overflow parking available across the street.

Monthly stays are from the 1st of the month to the 1st of the next month. We do not prorate our rates.

Great location but wasn’t too impressed with the rooms. Could use an update on everything in there. The sliding glass door handle to go out on the balcony was broken. It had a weird smell. The bathroom shower felt like I was going to fall through the shower floor. The elevator was super sketchy and had mold in it.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We’re glad you enjoyed the beachfront location on East Beach - it’s one of the reasons so many guests love this area. Regarding the sliding glass door handle, you did bring that to our attention during your stay. As explained at the time, that particular component is maintained by the building’s association rather than the individual unit owner. We have continued to follow up with the association on this item and appreciate your understanding, as it is unfortunately outside of our direct control. The elevator is likewise maintained and serviced by the building’s association, but we will certainly pass along your comments again. As for the interior, the condo is represented accurately in the listing photos so guests can determine in advance if the style and finishes align with their personal preferences. We value constructive input which will be passed on to the owner. We appreciate you choosing to stay with us and wish you all the best in your future travels.

The room was great!! The view was amazing. We did have elevator issues on 2 of the days we were there. Being on the 9th floor, it was very inconvenient.

Location, Location, Location!

The property was exactly as listed. We enjoyed having the beach access! There was some construction going on during our stay, and impeded the pool for a few days but now its ready for the next guests. (Our kids did get to use it 1 evening during our stay.)It was nice to be in walking distance to many restaurants & souvenir shops. Definitely would stay again. Thank you for allowing us to stay at your place! Ohio Native :)

Overall the condo is nice! Only thing I can say is the water pressure in both showers was terrible.

Hi Kevin, thanks for your review and comments. The water pressure issue happens when many units are using any water source at the same time. This is a building item that we cannot address. The peak times this may happen is during the summer around 5-6pm when folks head in for the day.

Over pretty good stay

The condo was clean and any issue we had, it was taken care of. The frig stopped working and they had a new one to us in two days. Beautiful view!

Spring break

Great location. We went for spring break with my kids. Loved everything but the furniture, beds we’re comfortable, but the furniture was well used and not able to sat in. You could definitely tell it was a rental. Overall, great.

We have stayed at many condos over the years. Some new some older. In terms of location, view, size and amenities 9c was great. It has one of the best stocked kitchens I've ever seen. My teens were about to walk to the shops and Hangout. The condo is a little bit dated and there was some paint peeling that I would recommend taking care of. Overall I wouod stay here again.

Very clean

Our condo was very clean and up to date. Loved the kitchen cabinets. Very well stocked. Plenty of bath towels. The twin beds were soft and comfy, but we're squeaky when turning over. The air conditioner ran great and we haf plenty of hot water.

The unit is a little run down. The washer gave an error message the first day we used it, and they didn't manage to fix it the entire week we were there. The pots & pans were in bad shape. Other than these issues, the location is fantastic and the property is nice. We do love to stay there.

Please know we did address the washer issue, our appliance tech diagnosed it (the same day you called it in), and we had a replacement ordered the same day. Elevator didnt work when we first got there. Room was clean few things were broken. King bed was terrible not very sturdy tub pressure sucked.

Mattress comfort can be a bit of a mixed bag, as you might see from varied reviews—some find it perfect, while others might disagree. Lights in 2nd bedroom did not work nor ceiling fan. Called property manager, no one fixed lights.

I liked location and view was great. Overall experience was great,. There was 2 different property managers phone numbers. Called lady answered hadn’t managed property in 4 years. She gave me the correct phone number.

Friends Trip

We were with a group, and 3 of us stayed in this condo. The location is very good. Close to restaurants and bars. Beautiful beach. Nice pool. The condo was clean and everything in good working order. We reported the lock battery was dying and the shower curtain was mildewed. The water completely shut off everywhere in the condo when the washer was on. They were very responsive. The building needs some freshening, but they were painting while we were there. The lower level of the building had an odd smell that I likened to Tidy Bowl, and it permeated into our condo. Otherwise, the condo is well-appointed, beautiful view right on the beach. The pictures are accurate.

Adequate accommodations

Master bed is in need of an update. Bed was very creaky/squeaky. The dryer had a load of partially dried towels that required re washing due to musty smell. Mold noted around the vents in front bathroom and the water pressure of both bathrooms was low most of the time and at one point the water stopped flowing during a shower in the master bathroom. Kitchen is well stocked with dishes and utensils however the toaster only toasts on one side. Ceiling fan over dining table did not work. View and location were perfect!

This place smelled like mold/mildew. The comforter (and bed blankets) smelled like it had not been washed in years. A pile of sand under comforter. Big glob of black hair in the bathtub drain. Black hairs on clean washcloths and towels. Light does not work above kitchen table, or next couch. And I have pictures and videos to back everything.

We're sorry to hear that you were not satisfied with the cleanliness of the condo. We understand your frustration, but unfortunately it's difficult to address the issue after the fact, especially without having the opportunity to correct it. We take all feedback seriously and will take steps to improve the cleanliness going forward. The light above the dining table is operated by the switch at the end of the bar.

Terrible customer service

After booking our reservation, we were threatened several times our reservation would be cancelled if our payment and agreement wasn’t signed on time along with the submission our driver’s licenses. When we made it, the elevator was not working. We had to walk up the stairs to our floor which was the 9th floor. During our stay, the property manager assumed we had 30 people staying in our unit because there was a large number of black people sitting at the pool area (how racist). Our dryer stop working on Friday. I called to report it to the maintenance phone number and til this day (Sunday) no one has reached out to us to resolve the problem. No one have came to our until to fix the issue at all. I talked to the after hours representatives and they were no help. Needless to say, we will not be staying here again!

Our team strives to address issues promptly, and we did send maintenance to resolve the dryer issue as soon as it was reported (he was in there with you). The concerns raised about the pool usage were based on the building's policies, the rental agreement occupancy limit, and were not related to any discriminatory behavior. We understand there were multiple challenges during your stay, and given the complications from the start, we believe it would be best for both parties if you choose alternative accommodations in the future. Great place!

This was our first time to Gulf Shores and so going in we were unfamiliar with the area. We feel like we made a great choice with this unit. Positives: - The unit itself was great; very clean and it had everything we needed including a washer/dryer, which came in handy since my daughter was there for a softball tournament and we could wash her uniforms; - Outstanding view of the beach from the balcony! - We really loved the keypad lock to the unit, which meant we didn't have to carry a key; we now want to get one of these for our own house! - Bed in master bedroom was very comfortable; I hadn't slept that good in awhile. Second bedroom had two twin beds and daughter was also comfortable. - Updated appliances and kitchen had all we needed; AC also worked great. - Pool was great; we used almost every day/evening. - Location- Walking distance to many restaurants, etc. Negatives: - The building itself is a little dated and could use a little sprucing up. I don't really care about stuff like this but if you're looking for a newer, higher-end look then the building itself does not deliver; - The parking was pretty tight, especially for a pickup truck, but we always managed and had a space; - Elevator- We never experienced any issues with in chatting with some other guests it was apparent that some had. Summary: This is a great place with direct access to the beach and an incredible view. It was hard to leave and we would definitely book this unit again if it was available

We loved the location! Beach was accessed easily, walking distance to anything you might want to do. Kitchen was well stocked with everything you need to cook ( no dish towels so take some ) turn fridge and freezer on as soon as you get there it does take a while to get cold. Cleanliness is another story, yes we are at the beach and expect sand. It smelled clean when we arrived we quickly learned that the floor just had something put on top of the grime, they were slippery and very dirty. My son almost fell walking into the living room, I walk in socks I’m places other than my home they were black on the bottom…so take an extra pair of flip flops or socks you can trash. The beds were ok, I would take your own pillows. Washer and dryer worked great and the balcony was amazing! Watched the dolphins every morning. Pool is great and partially shaded which is great to cool off. We also never cracked the code for turning the dining room light on which was a pain when we ate or played games at night. The TV in the kids room also didn’t work which was not a huge deal for us since we played games at night. Over all an excellent condo, perfect beach away from public areas. Just really should amp up the cleaning crew.
