Beautiful landscaping surrounds this house on all sides, and the Pacific Ocean only a stone's throw away. Located in a quiet gated community, this home is situated on a beach point with expansive ocean views and pristine beaches out front. The famous Playa Negra surf break is a short walk (15 minutes) down the beach making it an ideal surfing destination. Equally, to the north a leisurely foot path walk to the bay and estuary is an abundant menagerie of wildlife (monkeys, birds, reptiles). Amenities include on site property management with Beach Grass Rentals who can assist with all aspects of your vacation including private pick up at any airport, rental car brought to your house, grocery shopping, arranging tours, massages, points of interest, catered meals, in home chefs, anything to complete your vacation.

Ground Level: You are greeted by a private romantic courtyard with tropical landscaping and an outdoor shower. The porch leads to a private salt water swimming pool complete with spacious undercover patio, outdoor furniture with loungers, wet-bar, half bathroom and gas BBQ - perfect for soaking up the sun and entertaining.

Main Living Level: On the upstairs main level are breathtaking ocean views from the kitchen, living room, master bedroom and large deck. The living room features custom made wood and glass sliding doors with screens that open out to the spacious deck, which is furnished with a large dining table and patio furniture. The house maintains a contemporary feel throughout, with vaulted hardwood ceilings, flat screen TV, granite counter tops, and stainless steel appliances.

The kitchen is fully furnished with everything you need to cook meals with gas stove, oven, and microwave, blender, coffee maker and extras. Bedrooms are tastefully appointed with all-cotton bedding and orthopedic mattresses.The master bedroom includes queen bed, in suite bathroom, AC, private balcony, ceiling fan and closet. The second bedroom has 1 queen, AC, ceiling fan, closet, and a separate bath.

Loft Level: This upstairs full size loft offers extra sleeping space for additional guests. It is furnished with custom made 2 twin beds and closet. Includes ceiling fan, floor fan, well light with lots of windows and wooden bamboo screens provide privacy from downstairs living area.

Gorgeous setting in an idyllic, peaceful location

We loved this house and location. Was the ideal size for our small family. We recommend adding AC to the main living area, loft, and kitchen to make this the perfect place.

Christmas getaway

Once you navigate the the off the beaten path road in Costa Rica, the views and relaxed attitude of Playa Negra were perfect. Communication with the property maneger were a bit difficult but she got the job done in the end. The house was perfect!

Ventana Del Mar - Paradise at Playa Negra

My wife and I celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary with four nights at Ventana Del Mar along with our two sons (12 and 15 years old). The setting was incredible and the sunsets some of the best I have seen in the world. The home was well appointed with proper linens and kitchen supplies and the porches and pool were perfect for enjoying the beach breezes and cooling off after our visits to the beach. The location was very safe and the home manager was very helpful. If you are traveling to Costa Rica looking for a quiet, private retreat we highly recommend this home for your stay. We will definitely stay again. Pura Vida!!

Pura Vida!

Total relaxation at Ventana Del Mar. This is the most well-equipped VRBO we've stayed at and the house is very comfortable for 5 adults. Coffee on the deck every morning was our favourite time. The pool was wonderful after a hot day on the beach or exploring. There are basic groceries close by and several excellent restaurants with great service. We recommend il Rustico and La Purruja. There is a house in construction next door, so check on the status of construction before you book to avoid the noise. Pura Vida!

Ocean refreshing

Thank God it was ocean front.! as neither the kitchen, living room, bathrooms, nor loft were air conditioned. We found it very hot inside, too hot, even in evening with big fan blasting full speed. Conversing with each other or hearing tv programs was difficult. Couches wer so comfy but we couldn’t stay long there because of the excessive heat. We think having kitchen blinds / cooling shades in kitchen would have been be helpful asthe afternoon sun shines into house until sunset. Why not considering adding a few more a/cunit and do an optional extra daily charge for those wanting to use a/c in main living areas, too. Other than that, we really enjoyed the home, especially the upper outside space…Didn’t see much…just a few iguanas and some pelicans. We did like the lava flow in front of the house…W/the tidal pools, and there’s a small sandy beach area to right to take a dip. We liked the property was gated and this home had no one to the right of it. Very private. Did not like requirement to take all towels to laundry room (and wash them, we were told,) if time. We are on vacation and paid to have someone else to do that. Same in kitchen…haul the trash out to end of property…discard in designated area. Didn’t love these rules

Patrick, thank you for your review and very glad you enjoyed your stay. We were already discussing this year on installing AC in the main living area and hope to have it resolved soon. The large glass sliding doors in the living room are great for letting in the light and ocean views but we do have fully lined curtains for these glass doors to use for the afternoon sun. We are considering your suggestion of sun shade for the kitchen. In regards to you not wanting to do a few clean up requests at the end of your stay, we get some people dont like to clean, and sometimes it shows. We do offer a mid stay cleaning included in the rent for a 6 night stay or more and we do offer daily cleaning at extra charge if you need it, however your stay was only for 3 nights. Unlike a hotel, these are private individual residential homes and we ask of guests two clean up rules at the end of each stay, empty the trash and bring your dirty towels to the laundry room and we will take care of everything else. We find this to be a standard request in many countries for a private vacation rental and not too much to ask. Thank you!

Relaxing Getaway

We truly enjoyed Casa Ventana to the fullest. From coffee on the porch each morning with gorgeous ocean views, easy strolls on the beach, exploratory adventures, wild horses romping through the backyard each evening to play in the ocean and forage in the wild grasses next door, enjoying gorgeous sunsets, seeing whales jump around and blow water, relaxing in the pool, enjoying delicious restaurants to stocking up on groceries for the week, we had the MOST AMAZING TIME!!! We loved every minute!

Too good to be true!

Couldn’t help but think this place couldn’t be as good as it looked. But it was BEYOND! We literally didn’t feel the need to go anywhere else during our 4 day stay. The beach, the pool, the community. We loved it all. And the children lost their minds when horses came up on the property. Did I mention the Iguanas and howler monkeys? Giant black hawks! Beautiful Mot Mots!

Casa Ventana del Mar

The sunsets from the porch were beautiful, yet the beachview was not appealing as it was only lava rock and not the beautiful white sand we were expecting on the Nicoya peninsula. Did not enjoy the dusty dirt roads nor the red ants that made themselves at home, from the kitchen to the bathrooms.

Lovely property

The property manager - Mary - was wonderful to work with. She dealt with all of my numerous questions before and during our stay. She helped set up great activities - SUP, surfing, fishing charter, Rincon National Park. The only thing that was slightly disappointing about the property is that there is no beach right in front of the property, it’s all rock. There’s close enough beach to walk to, but we couldn’t fish from shore right at the house. The house is immaculate and everything was in great order. We’d definitely recommend. Thank you for sharing your home!

Gorgeous views, great house!

Casa Ventana has everything you need for a very comfortable stay in lovely Playa Negra. The kitchen is clean, large and well equipped. The ac is chilly. There is plenty of hot water. The house has a satellite tv and speedy wifi. The pool is pretty and was always the perfect temperature. The house has a large wrap-around porch which was the perfect place to enjoy the spectacular ocean views, flawless sunsets and cooling breezes. Every time we pulled into the driveway we remarked how much we loved our cute sea-side casa. It felt like home. Mary (the manager), the maintenance staff, the cleaning staff and the security team were excellent. We felt very safe and well cared for. Highly recommended!

Perfect getaway house near prime beaches

This was our third trip to Costa Rica and our first in Playa Negra. Casa Ventana del Mar was by far the nicest place we've ever stayed, and now we're wondering how soon we can come back to it! My husband is a lifelong surfer, and the break in front of the hotel did not disappoint. The house welcomes you home with a nice outdoor shower (two more in the house), a lovely pool, great for watching the sunset while staying cool, and lovely views from the upper patio. There are intriguing tidepools just beyond the house, and 180-degree ocean views with nothing between you and the ocean! The photos almost don't do the house justice. Within the house, the open concept of the modern kitchen and living room made for lounging comfort while preparing dinner. There is a guestbook full of great information on everything from restaurants to shopping. The bedroom AC made sleeping easy even on the hottest of nights and beds were comfy (plenty of pillows, too - important for us!). The house was well provisioned! Little amenities such as the cooler and plenty of ice made it easy for us to take picnics on our beach explorations. A lot of thought went into providing Casa guests well appointed and there's nothing I'd add. I also loved that the stove was gas - ideal for serious cooks. The blender got a workout - fruit stands in Tamarindo provided the stuff of delicious tropical drinks enjoyed on the patio! Lastly, the privacy factor was great. In the rancho, this house is on the far north out of the fray of passerby on their way to the beach. It was always private and we appreciate the added security of the house when we were away. Thank you for thinking of everything, and to Mary/Brenda of Beach Grass Rentals for their added hospitality arriving/departing.

Want a dream vacation? This is it!

My wife and I and 2 friends stayed at this outstanding beachfront home and had a perfect vacation. We should have added an extra week since we had such a hard time leaving. The location of the home is very private and we were able to view fantastic sunsets silhouetting the pelicans skimming over the waves. The house is new, well designed, nicely equipped and beautiful. I was so impressed with the bathroom tile work and artistic details.Although the pictures on the site are good, they don't convey what a truly awesome place this is. A short Walk away is a thatched beach bar hotel with good food and drink. Located on a great beach for beach-combing and surfing. This was the perfect place to spend our vacation I would recommend this rental to a friend and we are returning ourselves this vacation.
