Steps from the Sea - Minutes to Secret Beach 1B


Las Amapolas offers a spectacular view of the Belize Barrier Reef. Our beachfront casita is tucked among swaying coconuts palms on the sandy shores of Ambergris Caye. Once a part of a coconut grove, its now a peaceful tropical retreat just 30 minutes away from town on golf cart and a short ride to Secret Beach.

We invite you to relax and soak up the sun at Las Amapolas, where you can enjoy the beach views from your casita. For swimming, we recommend taking a trip to secret Beach for the best experience.

P.S.

You may occasionally notice sargassum on the shoreline, a natural occurrence caused by seasonal ocean currents abd seasonal shifting of currents and weather patterns.

Other things to note:

Power Outages: Power interruption can occasionally occur on Ambergris Caye. At Las Amaolas, we do our best to ensure you remain comfortable during these moments.

*Water remains available even when the power is off.

*Power is typically restored within a few hours by the Belize Electricity Limited, the island's electricity provider.

Life by the Sea:

"Being just steps from the sea, the salt air is part of everyday life here. While we carefully maintain the unit clean, some metal items show natural signs of coastal wear. This is common for true beachfront homes and part of their authentic charm."

The road to Las Amapolas can be BUMPY at some areas.

Trash Disposal
A blue barrel is located in the backyard for trash disposal if needed.

Mosquitoes
Mosquitos activity is seasonal and more common after rain. Peak times known has "Mosquito Happy Hour" are usually around 6:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. Your room includes mosquito coils and citronella for your comfort.

Tour & Rentals
For fishing, snorkeling, picnics, golf cart rental or general island information, olease check with our Property Manager.

Grocery Store

The newly open Caribeña North Gas Station is only a seven minute ride (south) away by golf cart from your unit. It's right at the entrance of the road that takes you to Secret Beach. They have sodas, beers, wines, liquors, ice and snacks. Opening hours from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Palm Supermarket is about 12-minute drive south on the main road. Open daily from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. and carries most essentials.

Nearby options include:
* Hidden Treasures - 2 minute walk south along the beach
* Mambo Restaurant (Matachica Resort) - 3 minute walk north along the beach

A bit farther north (recommended by golf cart, - 5 minutes):

About a 15-minute drive brings you to one of the island's most beautiful beach-sargassum-free year round.
The water is knee-deep and crystal clear.

San Pedro Town has a Caribbean/Mexican lifestyle and is bustling in activities during the day. Visitors can enjoy and experience the island cuisine at one of the many restaurants, cafes and bars in town. Or just simply enjoy watching the locals going about their daily chores

This place was the perfect little get away. The front yard was the beach with plenty of chairs and hammocks for lounging. The air conditioning worked well and a water jug was provided. The hosts let us check in a bit early and helped us get our golf cart rental, which was truly a blessing as we wanted to get out of downtown San Pedro. I would recommend this place to anyone and would stay again!

Cozy slice of heaven on Ambergris Caye

Las Amapolas delivered as promised. If you are looking for a cozy, well-equipped place to base your Ambergris Caye vacation from and away from the crowd, this is it. The location is lovely, right on the beach. The deck was the perfect place to enjoy your morning coffee and the beautiful sunrises, and to listen to the surf breaking over the barrier reef. We divided our meals between eating / cooking in and dining out. The kitchen area is small and so efficiency is the watchword. There are lovely restaurants a short walk down the beach in either direction and some lovely local stores for fresh fruit and veggies, baked goods and other necessities. Our excellent host Gach Guererro was very attentive to our needs and comfort and an all-round gentleman. It all made for a wonderful and very relaxing two weeks.

Great Little Find

This is a really nice property for a single or couple that doesn't need a full apartment. A/C worked perfectly. The kitchenette was stocked well enough for small meals and snacks and the beach was very well kept!

Belizean Escape

The property at Las Amapolas was very beautiful and perfectly located on Ambergris Caye. Quiet and serene on site and a short walk or drive to great restaurants and bars.

The perfect spot

I got really lucky choosing this place. We went in September, so I can't comment on what it's like in high season. Location was very secluded, with a beautiful view and constant breeze. The location is really perfect because it's close enough to San Pedro that you don't mind the golf cart ride to get there. I think we went 5 or 6 times. It's very close to Secret Beach and the activities there. There are restaurants close enough to walk or drive to so you don't have to go to San Pedro for a meal. Gach is wonderful. He chatted with us and prepared some coconuts. Super sweet. My only complaint about the room, and it's a mild one, is that cooking was harder than expected. I knew there would be a hot plate but for some reason I imagined it would have 2 burners instead of 1. We didn't feel like the grill was something we wanted to use. I bought groceries on the way in expecting to use the grill and had to adjust, cooking everything on the one burner hot plate. I would love to see them get a new grill and indicate that it's charcoal if propane is not going to be an option. Then proper groceries can be bought. You will need to fly or take ferry from Belize City to Ambergris. Ferry takes 1.5 hours. Next time I would take ferry once and fly once just for the experience The golf cart is part of the whole experience ❤️ Super Buy grocery had terrible produce and was $$$$ Sun Deck and Friendship restaurants were best food. Short but oh so sweet

Arrived ahead of schedule but were met with grace. Check in and golf cart rental was smooth. The roads...were not, but hey, that was part of the fun. Apartment was clean and perfect for us. Enjoyed coffee on the front porch with the sunrise. We unfortunately had an emergency and had to leave early. Everyone was so helpful in getting us back home. Not only would I recommend staying here but we will surely return, for a much longer stay this time.

Belize Stay

We were expected to find the place on our own at first which would never have happened. Someone finally led us out to the place. Our dead bolt key didn't work. The microwave didn't work. The golf cart we rented was not the best but it got us from point A to B. Overall not bad.

Very Serene - Awesome Reef

We loved being right on the beach and found Gach to be an amazing host. We quickly felt like family. He recommended places to eat based on our tastes and things to do that were right for us. Our last night he had family and friends over and even included us for garnachos for the full moon. We'll remember that evening forever and can't wait to get back again. I HIGHLY recommend staying at Las Amapolas!

Truly a hidden gem right on the beach as described.

I only spent one night at the property because it was far from town, I was travelling alone and there were no restaurants nearby. If you are looking for a more remote, quiet retreat, and can do your own cooking, then this is the place for you. I wanted to be closer to town and access to several places to eat. Otherwise, the host was kind and understanding. When I left, he suggested other places for me to stay.

SUMMARY: Great location hidden off the main road with a tour guide right next door. ---------- BOOKING: All done with VRBO but then required going to town to get keys from property management company. This company will not show up correctly in google maps (search Laundromat instead of Property Management) and closes at 6pm. HOST: Gach was responsive and helped me a lot even after forgetting some items at the condo. He sent them to the airport for me next day. Unexpected amazing hospitality. ROOM: Cozy and all you need if you are spending most of the day on the beach. Beachfront view is nice. MISC: Thomas is in the house next door and is an amazing tour guide for fishing and snorkeling. Nice guy and cooked our catch too. Would recommend to anyone passing through a day or two for the tour guide experience or if you don't want to pay resort prices. It's 10 minutes away from the nearest store/restaurant as well too by golf cart and 20 minutes to town.

Beautiful view

Beautiful view and the communication was great with the property management. They arranged golf cart rental. Went out on a private snorkel trip arranged by Thomas who lives on the property and it was the highlight of the trip. If you are hesitating don’t it’s worth the potholed drive into town for the view and people.

Great trip!!

Great host. Very helpful. Already planning another trip back. Only major issue was the air conditioner. There was no glass in the windows causing the cool air to escape. It would have been nice to have the room cooled before we even got there.

Beautiful beach stay

The place was perfect beautiful beach area. It wasn't listed but the owner Gach offered a kayak to take to the reef. June is a hot time of year and the AC barely kept up as we like it low 70 while we sleep. Overall Gach place was amazing and very peaceful.

Great Birthday Weekend

First time to Belize and was not disappointed. It was as advertised. Beautiful water view off the balcony. Waking up to the birds chatting and an ocean breeze was so relaxing. From the time I booked the condo, Gach and his team were quick to respond to my questions. It is located a few miles from town, which added to the peace and quiet, but I highly recommend getting a golf cart to explore the area. We drove all over. There are many potholes in the road outside of town, but traffic was not bad and dodging them was part of the fun.

Perfect place

There are not enough words to explain this amazing place. Not only was the location and cleanliness of the property perfect but the attention to detail and the amazing family who own it make this the most ideal place. If your planning to snorkel I say wait until you speak with captain Robby he lives on the property. This family really made our stay more than we could have wished for. They were so incredibly welcoming but also let us make our way too. I am already planning out next trip there.

I was born and raised in San Pedro and proud to call this island home. As a true sampedrano, I love the food, the sea breeze, the smell of salt in the air, and the friendly faces that make this place special.

Due to my job my first cousin Nellie of Nellie"s Property Management is in charge of Las Amapolas. She is also a native of the island.

The land has been in the family for a very long time. In 2015 my father passed away and we his children (seven men and three women) inherited the land. One of my brothers and I decided to build a casita to spend our free time and share it with tourists that are looking for a quiet little piece of paradise.

The place is out of town. A ten minute boat ride or a 30 minutes on golf cart.

A Pristine & Relaxed Getaway!

To maintain our clean standard, We are pleased to announce that we have received our Gold Standard Certificate and was given a safe medal on our enhanced health and safety measures to help our visitors’ experience an even cleaner escape from the hustle & bustle of our new lifestyle.

Upon arrival at property, our guests' will witness our disinfecting stations, signage awareness to practice social distancing, washing/sanitizing hands, wearing a mask when you step out of the unit.

In addition, our enhanced housekeeping protocols steered us to thoroughly clean both hard & soft high-touched .We will be removing extra linens, bedding, towels, guest books/magazines etc. to reduce the spread of cross contamination guided by the Belize Tourism Board protocols. Guests can get extra linens, bedding, towels upon request.
