If you want to stay in ocean beach but away from the craziness of the main strip, this is the perfect location. This house is a beach cabana oasis with a stunning waterfront view. Perfect for a small group, which is a harder thing to come by on fire island. Host is communicative and helpful. Have stayed two years in a row and will be back!

Great little beach getaway!

Host was excellent. The place is exactly as it seems in the photos. Check in and check out process were seamless. The location is VERY close to the beach but a bit distanced from town (mostly bc we had three toddlers in tow!). The deck and outdoor space is lovely. Only issue is that thereā€™s no ramp up to the door - you have to go up a flight of stairs.

Adorable beach cottage!

If youā€™re looking for a really quaint adorable cottage on the beach, this is the place for you. I stayed here with four friends and we had a great time. Itā€™s not a big piece of property, but it worked just fine. If youā€™re looking to be out more in the fire island atmosphere meaning your out on beaches, in restaurants, shopping, and in bars, this place will do just perfectly to hang your hat ! Communication with owner was great!

For those not familiar with the area, this place is ferry access only, which is limited in non peak seasons. This is not disclosed until after booking and if you fail to read the FAQ right away, you might find yourself scrambling to make alternative arrangements. Expect no accommodation from the host.

Perfect Beach Getaway

Quick 2-night stay, couldnā€™t have been more comfortable. Ocean Beach (town) has everything (one would need for a Fire Island stay), yet the house is beautifully secluded away from it all. The house is well-cared for with delightful details. The view is wonderful. We had everything we needed. Would stay here again in a heartbeat. Thank you!

Cozy retreat with fabulous views from living room and spectacular deck. Such easy access to ocean! Especially loved: fast cooling AC, roomy outdoor shower, high ceilings and skylight made living area bright and open. Occasional struggle with wifi (host very helpful!)

Good house, horrible host

The property presented well, but once the power went out in the hose, we were left to fend for ourselves. We had no power from 4PM+ and we reached out to the host, who did not respond and do not do anything to help. We had no power, lights, air conditioning, were unable to cook, see, or do anything in the house. Once it was completely dark outside, we couldnā€™t see or move within the house. We called the owner multiple times and got no response. Even in the morning, the owner did not call back, respond, or check in with us. Would never stay here again and would not recommend to anyone. We would like to speak with VRBO about getting a full refund for our entire stayā€¦0/10.

Convenient, pleasant stay

The house had all of the basics / essentials for a pleasant stay. We enjoyed the grill, outdoor shower, and beach chairs. The indoor shower is very small and the listing didn't clearly state that there is a large stair case to enter and exit the property, which made it a bit challenging while traveling with our toddler. That aside, we had a wonderful stay on fire island. The house was clean and was well suited for a small family.

Amazing location, classic FI

Stayed here as a family of 4 w younger kiddos. The picture of the beach view is 100% accurate, you can enjoy coffee on the deck and look onto the dunes and ocean every morning. This is a classic FI house (smaller, wood paneling, minimal, cottage-like) which I love and the owners are clearly making upgrades to improve it (new kitchen counters and fridge, lifesaving very quiet AC in every room). Kids loved walking the wooden path up to the house through the bamboo. Our hosts were so responsive when we called for directions, and checked in to make sure we had what we needed in terms of beach chairs and umbrellas. Steps from the beach, easy to get into town. Such a quiet location away from the Ocean Beach partying noise. With the windows open you can fall asleep to the sound of the waves. Would definitely stay here again!

Amazing view and location!!

Front row seat to the ocean in that it's a clear view to rolling waves. Outdoor shower is big and a fun addition. BBQ and deck lovely. Inside common room was enough for our daily of three although a bit tight for bigger groups I'd think. Stay was lovely! Two bathrooms were a plus to accommodate the two bedrooms. Would repeat the off season stay.

Exactly what we were looking fir

Everything can out this quaint little cottage was just as the owners described. Clean, comfortable and a great location... very short walk to the beach. Everything you needed in the house was there. We would definitely recommend this house to anyone. We were 4 adults and 2 children and were comfortable. The deck had a beautiful view of the ocean. One of my favorite things was the outdoor shower.. it was clean and plenty of hot water and water pressure.

Perfect beach house with a great view

Planned a girls trip so glad we booked this beach house. It was perfect for the two of us and would have been just as cozy with more. We were greeted at the ferry by Darren with a cart for our luggage and made sure we were comfortable for our stay with restaurant recommendations and directions to and from town. We loved how private the place was with a wooded walkway up to the house and an amazing view of the water. We opted to even have take out on a Friday night to enjoy the view with a quiet night in. The outdoor shower was great after the beach as well as in the morning. Will definitely be booking again for a longer stay!

Summer Beach House 2020

This property worked very well for our family. The location of the house is unbeatable with beautiful ocean views as you walk out the front door and sit on the front deck. The house was cozy but was perfect for our family of 5. The front deck, BBQ, and outdoor shower were used everyday and really enhanced the experience. Thanks for a great week!

There's always the next ferry...

Fire Island is a unique beach getaway...if you prefer a quaint and more low key atmosphere, then this is the place for you. The communication with Tom was excellent. When we arrived off the ferry, he greeted us with a wagon, helped us load it up and pulled it to the beach cottage! Tom had many helpful suggestions to assist us navigating Ocean Beach. We arrived well before check-in time and were allowed to keep our luggage at the house while it was being cleaned. We were able to explore the town a little and even got some beach time! The cottage itself was small and could probably use a little updating, but it was well stocked for all our needs. Upon our arrival we noticed one of the window AC units wasn't working. Darren replaced it with a brand new unit....before we even got back from the beach! The view from the deck is beautiful and it is only a two minute walk to the sand. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the beach bungalow and would definitely consider staying there if we return to the Island.
