A great Thanksgiving in the mountains.

We were pleasantly surprised with the condo and the wonderful management team. They were nice enough to welcome us with a delicious desert and bottle of wine. Very accommodating. The cabin is in a great location close to town. Great trip and place to stay.

Great location

The house was clean. There was a bottle of wine, and a homemade cake on the island when we got there. That was a nice touch. We attended a wedding at The Farm at Old Edwards. This home is in a great location.

Great space for a group

We rented this as a place to stay prior to our daughters wedding. The groom and his friends loved the rooms and how close it was to Main Street. It’s not fancy but it’s comfortable and cozy.

Great Location but small bathrooms

This house has a great location - very close to Highlands. Wifi was also very good. There were 9 of us staying in house and found bathrooms (3) to be very small and hard to share. Downstairs sleeps 6 people but only 1 very small bathroom. Also house has a musty smell - especially downstairs.

Happy Weekend

Beginning with the booking, all questions along the way, and check-in, Janet was prompt and friendly! The bottle of wine, delicious home-made cake, and fresh flowers were a welcoming touch at our arrival. Myself and six family members booked this place to attend my son's wedding in beautiful Highlands, NC. It was very roomy, allowing everyone plenty of space. Not only was the house beautiful, the furnishing was exquisite. The kitchen was well stocked and towels and linens were plentiful. Highlands, NC offers so many wonderful options, dining, nature and hiking, and a lovely downtown area. Unfortunately, our weekend was jam packed with wedding festivities and we weren't able to enjoy the beauty of the area, but it is a definite return destination! I would highly recommend 'Serenity in the Mountains' for a relaxing getaway!

Great Thanksgiving 2021 celebration

What an awesome place to stay! We were so impressed with Janet(the concierge) that met us at the house with a bottle of yummy wine and a delicious chocolate cake. I don't think that in all the years we have rented with VRBO we have ever had a welcoming gift like that! The house is nicely decorated in a rustic, high end style. I'm glad I brought my laptop with me so I could plug it into the TV to watch DisneyPlus movies. The flat panel TV is a bit older(i.e. no netflix, amazon prime or disneyplus apps) but I brought an HDMI cord with me...plugged it into the TV and we were ready to go. Wifi is fast. We only ate out once as all the restaurants were PACKED/FULL during thanksgiving weekend. The restaurant staff said the whole town is having trouble finding adequate help due to Covid. The hiking in Highlands is amazing. The turn off for the Glen Falls trail is less than a 1/4 mile away from the house. You have to drive about 1/2 mile to get to the trailhead but the falls are pretty. We did the Mt. Scaly hike down the road on SR-106 the next day and that was pretty awesome. my kids(11, 13, 15) took over the downstairs level and claimed it as their own. This was a bonus as it left two bathrooms and 2 bedrooms upstairs for myself and my spouse. The kitchen is well stocked with cups/plates/utensils. Could use a few more cooking utensils but we usually bring our essential cooking tools with us whenever we go to a VRBO. Coffeemaker is standard round filters. The well water doesn't have a funny taste. I suspect that's because all the well water is really from the mountains and isn't subjected to all the normal ground water tastes normally associated with well water. The gas log fireplace is great and heats up the living room well. The wrap around deck is nice. It was a bit chilly during this weekend so we didn't spend much time out there. But I suspect that on a warmer night in the fall, it would be awesome for star gazing. We did have some trouble with burnt out lightbulbs downstairs but after trading out some bulbs with the upstairs lamps, the kids were not in the dark anymore. all the extra blankets were nice as the kids got cold at night. If I could add things that would make the place nicer. 1. nightlights in all the bathrooms. 2. 2 or 3 cutting boards 3. more cooking utensils(flat spatula for flipping eggs, etc). 4. TV in the downstairs game room. 5. garage cans in all the bathrooms. overall, it was an awesome place! 5 stars

The location of this property is ideal for a weekend in Highlands by its close proximity to town. We booked this house for an impromptu getaway with friends. Upon arrival we were greeted with a bottle of wine and a homemade cake, which was delicious. The reason for only 2 stars would be the amenities of the property. The bathrooms were old and dingy, linens were mismatched, stained and simply worn out. Since we were traveling with kids, cooking at the house was essential and the kitchen lacked many basic items that would have made the experience better. The rear deck was old and seemingly unsafe. For the cost of the rental I simply had higher hopes. I do believe some minor upgrades would lift this experience up drastically! I would like to give a positive shoutout to the concierge Janet who deserves 5 stars. She communicated throughout the process and was very accommodating to some requests we had before arrival which we greatly appreciated.

Great location

The house was great for the long weekend. Very close to downtown Highlands however not walkable because there isn’t a sidewalk. Janet was very easy to communicate with and very helpful. The wine, flowers and cake she left for us was a very nice touch!

Could have been better

The house needs some fresh air. Lower level of the home was a very musty. Upstairs was also musty. The seating wasn’t comfortable except for the off white couch . The outside could have used some cleaning .

Great location!

This was a wonderful property! The concierge, Janet reached out to us shortly after we booked. She had a bottle of wine and a delicious cake waiting for us when we arrived, and she was helpful with making suggestions for activities. The house is located very close to town, yet it is tucked in the woods. We felt like it was also convenient to many water falls and great hikes. There were also many good restaurants and groceries nearby as well. My 3 teenage to young adult kids spent every evening in their enos in front of the house enjoying the lovely nights. The house has been updated, and it was very clean. Janet had restocked the games, and we spent many nights in the downstairs gameroom playing games as a family. There is a queen bedroom, a bunkroom, a gameroom, 1 bath, and garage (with washer and dryer) on lower level. The living, kitchen, 2 twin bedroom, king bedroom, and 2 baths are on the main level with outdoor porch. There is a TV in the living and master, but you may need a firestick, game station, etc if you want to stream. The house was very comfortable for a family of 5, and we would stay here again.

Awesome Trip

We spent a few days in Highlands at this fantastic property. Janet was awesome to deal with and had everything ready when we arrived. The house is in a great location, close to town and yet you feel like you are secluded in the mountains. Will definitely stay again!
