Welcome to Casa Sur: A Colonial Style House / Retreat Center featuring an outdoor Zen Area, in and outdoor lounges, front and back yards, the Tree of Life, Courtyard, a private farming and tree areas, playground and outdoor bedding.


Casa Sur is a unique property for its capacity to fit up to 17 people inside the house. The main house has 4 bedrooms and 3 full bathrooms, living room, dinning room, huge kitchen, courtyard & beer garden, ping pong area, yoga and meditation area, outdoor area with patio furniture & gas fire pit. The driveway fits 4 cars and there is plenty parking on the streets.

Casa Sur is a hybrid of country and urban house & retreat center, and a magical space that can also host intimate gatherings. and small events. Casa Sur visitors have shared that there is an air of peace, serenity, intimacy, expansion, and joy at the property.

We are located 12 miles from the Airport -18’ drive, 10' drive to downtown San Diego, Imperial Beach, Otay Olympic Center & the US/Mexico, 20’ to the beaches, and 30' to La Jolla Shore & Cove.

HOUSE RULES AND CONSIDERATIONS
1) I want you to know that the property is my primary residency, so I have put a lot of love, care and attention to detail to the house, the furniture, the plants and flowers, and the turf outside. So I want to make sure that you, and your guest respect my home and honor the rules.

2. Be aware of the fact that there is not outdoor music and loud conversation allowed after 10pm. This is the agreement that I have with my neighbors.
3. When this is not honor they call me or call the police to let me/them know that you are not following the city rules and the police will come so do I to talk to you.

3. Once you tell me the number of outside guests coming to the house, I will be able to give you an exact fee.

4) This fee helps me to cover the extra services and utilities such as extra water, electricity, gas, toilet paper, cleaning, garbage, tables, chairs and the property management.

5) I value assertive communication, honesty and transparency with my guest, specially related to the number of people staying at the house and those coming to attend any gatherings happening in the house. I have security cameras that show me who come in and out of the property. So I would appreciate you disclose the exact number of people staying and attending a possible gathering .

Casa Sur was a lovely venue to host my mom's 70th birthday party and the perfect home for our extended family to stay. The kids especially loved the bunk room and adults liked being on the other side of the house away from the kids. Ricky Ricardo was a wonderful host with great communication before, during, and after our event and stay. For the party, he set up tables, chairs, a canopy, and provided other amenities for our event like large coffee pot and hot water containers and beautiful mugs. I would definitely recommend Casa Sur Hacienda for an event or just a family vacation. Chula Vista is close to everything in San Diego and Ricky Ricardo is a top notch host!

The host met us at the house to show us around and give us the keys. The house is well maintained and the kitchen is well equipped. Quiet neighborhood close to the xmas light circle.

better then expected, very clean rooms and Host welcome us personally. Decor was a hit with all the ladies in the family, true meaning to Hacienda. I was not expected the backyard layout as it was very different from website. Nevertheless, very comfy and pleasant.Will most recommend this property

A great getaway in Chulavista

Great place for seminars!

This is the second time we've rented Ricky's place for our martial arts seminar. Once again, we had a wonderful experience. Ricky makes everything very easy, and he was available whenever we needed anything. There's lots of space outdoors, which was perfect for us. There's even a large canopy that kept us all of the sun during our all-day seminar. All in all, this an amazing property with an amazing host!

Great location and super helpful host

6 Adults and 3 toddlers wanted to be near Sesame Place. The house was very convenient to all of our day trips and easy to get back to for kid naps. Our host led us to great fish tacos, as a plus!

Beautiful gathering place

What a great place for family & friends to gather! Our host Ricky was awesome, very responsive to any issue we had! The rooms were comfortable and so well laid out. The neighborhood was nice, walkable and close to everything. We all had such a great time there together! Thank you Ricky

House Build

We stayed on a Friday and Saturday as we were on a mission to build a home in Mexico. House was perfect and Ricardo was a great host. Very prompt with attention and details that helped our stay to be comfortable and memorable. I would highly recommend his home.

Great spot for large gatherings!

This is an excellent place if you're looking to hold a large gathering. Ricky is such a good host, and he'll go out of his way to make your stay comfortable. For example, on Saturday night, someone in the neighborhood was playing very loud music. A quick text to Ricky, and he was on his way to speak to them about turning down the music. Overall, we had a wonderful stay!

Ricky was very accommodating and his place reflects his charm. We had more than enough space to host dinner with additional family and friends. Complimentary ear plugs for large groups would have been INSANE

Good stay

Ricardo is a great host and has a great property. He is very responsive and easy to communicate with. He pre-approved that we host my bridal shower at his property with pre-approved rules and an event fee. There were no issues. One night we were to loud and he nicely texted me to turn down our music. The house has a lot of decor and is very cluttered. The decorations are beautiful but it was a little overwhelming to me. Additionally, Ricardo stayed in a small office space behind the back gate so it felt like there was a lack of privacy in the backyard. Overall, we had a great stay!

Great place for a gathering!

We stayed here for a weekend and hosted a baby shower with our friends and family. What a great house for a get-together! We were able to seat at least 20 people at the outdoor tables. The shade over the table kept us comfortable during the day and the party lights were so festive at night. People played ping pong out in the yard and the kids had lots of room to run around. Ricky even had ice chests available for us. The whole indoor/outdoor set-up was great. Ricky told us all about the house when we got there and was available to text during the stay. We would definitely stay there again.

Uncomfortable Stay

Uncomfortable stay as we were notified at the walk through the last occupants blasted the Air Conditioning system and caused electrical overload, but weather should be cool rnough not needed. All the members of tje group were uncomfortable especially in evening. Had ants in 2 of the bedrooms and some on kitchen counter. Loud music played by next door neighbor on one night and music and shouting by people at 1am on 3rd night at different adjacent residence with our windows open (no AC) made it difficult to get to sleep. If we would have bee informed there would be no AC during our stay before we arrived, we would have almost assuredly cancelled and got hotelrooms. Nice place, for larger group not such a quiet relaxing getaway considering no AC and inconsiderate neighbors

21st Birthday get together

Very accommodating and cozy place for a family get together. Weather permitting, great back yard for maxing and relaxing by the fire. Host was always in communication if we needed help or just had a question.

warm and comfortable

Ricky met me at the door and gave me a tour of the home even though I was a few minutes late. He was kind and gracious. The home was warm, comfortable, and clean, and it was obvious he had spent a great deal of thought and time decorating it. It was centrally located to groceries, coffee shops, etc. All 7 of us enjoyed our time there with no complaints whatsoever. I would recommend this home to anyone who wants a home that is both reasonably priced and at the same time fully accommodating.

I am a member of the Triathlon Club of San Diego. I love swimming in the open ocean and biking on the Pacific Ocean Coast. I am the founder of Casa Sur in San Diego, a space with a mission to support individuals, organizations and businesses to grow in an organic and sustainable way by hosting retreats, workshops, events, fundraising , educational and artist-in-residence programs! I was born in Mexico City, and lived half of my life in New York City. A rising resident of this beautiful San Diego, California.
