The Away Place is a lakeside home with fireplace, hot tub, fire pit and kayaks. Located just 4 miles from downtown Mentone and also 4 miles from DeSoto State Park, The Away Place is modern living with a rustic, vintage vibe. Open living room with gas log fireplace and smart tv, open dining area that seats 6 and open kitchen with island seating 4 ensure that there is plenty of room for everyone! Just off the kitchen is a covered porch overlooking the lake with hot tub and more seating. The King bedroom with ensuite bath also leads out to the covered back porch. The second bedroom with two twin beds and third bedroom with Queen bed make this amazing property sleep up to 6 comfortably. Drink your morning coffee from the back porch overlooking the lake, sip a glass of wine while watching the sun set, and finish your day enjoying s'mores and making memories lakeside at the fire pit. Outdoors is a rustic landscape of trees and amazing color, making it the ultimate "Away Place" on the lake.

Mentone offers artist & antique shops and restaurants. Nearby activities include golf, DeSoto State Park, Little River Canyon National Preserve, horseback riding, hiking along rivers & waterfalls. Comfortable Stay

Our family enjoyed our stay in the Away Place cabin. It was quiet and beautifully located next to the water. We also enjoyed the hot tub. Everything was very clean and check in was easy!

Beautiful cabin, Great Lake view

We went on a weekend girls trip. Really enjoyed this beautiful cabin. There was plenty of space for the 4 of us. The place was modern, clean and tastefully decorated. The kitchen has nice extras such as keurig pods, sugar etc. We enjoyed the view of the small lake from back porch as well as the hot tub! The hosts were responsive and kind. We thought we were going to have to reschedule our trip because of the winter storm, but it all worked out! We would love to return if ever back in Mentone!

Our second stay!!

This is the second time we’ve stayed in your cute house. It has all the amenities to cook at home. Close drive to Mentone and Fort Payne. So peaceful. Loved having a fire out by the lake!!! Thanks for a great vacation.

Great location! Wildlife was so beautiful. Deer and rabbit right in the backyard! Very peaceful and quiet. Had a beautiful double rainbow we saw while setting on the back porch.

Great Place!!

We had a nice, relaxing time at the “Away Place”. The cabin was very clean and nicely decorated. The surroundings were very pleasant and peaceful. The kitchen was stocked with a good selection of cooking necessities. The hot tub was nice as well.

Big Blue cabin in the woods

This home is amazing. It’s beautifully appointed and super comfortable. We appreciated the cleanliness, well stocked kitchen and thoughtful design of the home. It’s a perfect, quiet place in the woods but also super close to both Mentone and Ft Payne. As always, Holly was helpful and kind during our stay. We can’t wait for our next visit.

Perfect weekend

We wanted somewhere to go for a long relaxing weekend and this fit the bill! It was perfect! The house was clean and things like fans and lights were turned on when we got there. My husband loved the pond to fish in, and the pups and I loved the back porch to relax on while we watched him fish! Cannot recommend this place enough!

Absolutely beautiful getaway!

We had such an amazing time at the away place! The house is absolutely beautiful, and check in and check out were very easy. The amenities were great as well and the hot tub was perfect for night time soaks. I definitely recommend this cabin for a girls or family getaway.

Amazing, clean house!

This house was amazing! My boyfriend an I went to get away for the weekend just to relax and this place was perfect for that. The hot tub was nice, I wish there was blinds or something to help block from the people across the pond but it was still nice.

Wonderful Weekend in the mountains

We spent the 4th of July here- it was so nice and peaceful. The house was perfect for our family and the kayaks on the pond provided great entertainment for our children. We will be back next year on the way to camp drop off!

Perfect Getaway!

The Away Place is a beautiful home for a friends weekend getaway chasing waterfalls! The home is very cozy, well decorated and just a great place to unwind, cook and play games! Absolutely beautiful views!

This property was perfect for our family trip. Very close to Desota State Park and Little River Canyon. Down Mentone was a delightful surprise. The property has such nice touches for your comfort. Holly with management was available for any questions we had. The kids loved the hot tub and the whole family enjoyed the fire pit. We loved it so much we are planning a return trip.

Absolutely Divine Hideaway!

I decided to make a trip out of evacuating Florida for a recent hurricane. This property is gorgeous, clean, peaceful perfection. Couldn't have asked for a smoother process. Great communication and awesome setting to spend a few days away - feels like total isolation but within close proximity to all modern conveniences you need! Can't wait to visit again.

Lovely Stay

We had a great visit with my family. The home is lovely with all the conveniences you need and a home away from home. We fished and kayaked in the lake, relaxed in the hot tub, had a fire in the fire pit, it’s a nice area for taking walks. WiFi is good! Roku Streaming available. Convenient to everything in the area. Great place for dogs too.
