Calipso Cottage - dog friendly - Cannon Beach Property Mgmt

This charming, quaint cottage is the perfect getaway for the pet-friendly couple or small family! Located at the quiet "North End," Calipso Cottage is a short walk to the village, and only a few blocks to Les Shirley Park or the private beach cove at Chapman Point.


Snug and adorable with a wood burning fireplace, this cottage creates a cozy open living room, dining area, and kitchen. The unique *spiral staircase hints of nautical ships of old, and leads to an open sleeping loft with a Queen-sized bed. Down the hall two other bedrooms provide either, a warm and comfortable private space with a Queen bed, or a youth room with twin bunks. The updated bathroom features a nice-sized stand up shower. (*The spiral staircase is not recommended for young children.)


Enjoy quiet outdoor mornings or sunset-evenings on the large front deck, or in the private, fenced back yard.


Accommodates 6 maximum; 1 small dog welcome; no smoking; parking for 2 vehicles.

3 night minimum stay, except during the summer months.
7 night minimum stay for the summer months.

Deck Furniture and BBQ's are available from Memorial Day to Labor Day.

Delightful cottage

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We had a lovely stay at the Calipso Cottage. There was plenty of room for all 6 of us plus our two pups. The kitchen was well stocked with dishes, utensils and cookware. The furnace did stop working while we were there, but the property manager immediately brought over an electric heater and plenty of firewood for us, and everything was warm and cozy again. There was easy access to the beach, and we saw elk out on the beach at sunset on our second night there. We also walked into town, and enjoyed the holiday lights. All in all it was a wonderful vacation at a lovely home.

The property managers were very responsive and even stopped over to help when I was unable to find something I needed.

Cozy and comfortable

Very nice for a small group (there were three of us) and the loft was a hit with our teenager who likes privacy.

Great birthday weekend getaway. House was nestled in a quiet, friendly neighborhood just on the outskirts of town. We would rent this house again in the future.

It is a cute small house . Perfect for the 3 of us and our dog. There is definitely a washer dryer out next to the house in a little room. Plenty of pots and pans in the kitchen we enjoy cooking so that was nice. The hill to get to the beach is a bit much and it’s quit a hike to the beach especially with a kid. We just opted to drive to a different access point. Also the walk to town with a kid was a little farther than we thought. So we drove and parked down town. But again it’s a small town and was no big deal. Over we enjoyed the house.

Nice home

This home was nice and in a quiet area. The- beach access is up a big hill and then down a very steep sand hill which isn’t great for some people. The listing said there was clothes washing machine but THERE IS NOT! This was an issue as we had travelled before getting here and counted on washing clothes.

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was very clean. I was more than happy with the location. I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The rental was pretty much as described. It's somewhat rustic but nice. The refrigerator door showed signs of stains but the inside was clean. Overall it was a good experience. The only three negatives was that there was no umbrella for the front deck area to enjoy the deck, found some kind of medicine(pill) under the bed, and the backyard was unusable due to all the weeds and grasses. It would have been nice if they had mowed prior to our arrival.

The house was okay and it was in a nice quiet neighborhood. It had a new deck out front but the back steps leading out into the backyard need some anti-slip tape put on them as my daughter slipped and fell down them the first evening we were there. The only bathroom amenity provided were two small bars of soap, thank goodness my daughter had brought shampoo with her. There were a lot of personal items and pictures everywhere that made you almost feel like you were invading someone's home. The kitchen had most all of the appliances, cookware and plates you would need for meals. We had planned to cook our Thanksgiving dinner there, but a bit of a windstorm blew up and knocked the power out. It was out for several hours, leaving us without heat as well as lights. There were not any candles or lanterns that we were able to find so we ended up packing up and leaving Thursday afternoon as it gets dark early and we didn't want to be there all night without lights or heat. The power outage was by no means the fault of the VRBO owner but they could provide some of the necessities needed for those types of situations.

Our stay at Calipso Cottage

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The cottage was perfect for us,we celebrated our 40th anniversary there. beds were super comfortable, as was the furniture. Kitchen was great, nice having a dishwasher. Wish there was a clothes washer and dryer (somehow I missed that when booking), but we managed. So close to the beach, loved the walk there and also an easy walk to town! We enjoyed the shops and galleries!! Also a quick drive to Seaside and Astoria which was great!! The big pine tree in the front deck was a bit of a pain as it dripped sap on the car no matter where we parked, but it washed off fairly easily. We stayed the first two weeks of June, weather was great.

Good house in need of some work

The front and back have deck boards that need replacing and could be a hazard. The spiral stairs would be accessible by more if there were some traction strips on the stairs. While its a well loved house, its at the point where it needs a deep cleaning and some;painting. The futance may need to be checked as it makes a load bang each time it turns on.

The Nymphs Cottage

First of all I want to say we were grateful for the cute little house and its location to the beach! The house was not clean and it is very cluttered with the owners personal items. It felt strange, as if I was barging in on their home. There were no beach chairs, no beach towels, no bikes for a stroll and lacking was an overall effort for the renter to feel welcome! Although it is stamped and written all over the paperwork and in the three ring binder made for the house with all the instructions for the house, I received a call the day prior to our last day at 3:00 pm reminding me that checkout was at 11:00 am the following day. Nothing says your rest and relaxation and welcome to our home, like being reminded, again, of when you are supposed to leave. It's all about the money and not at all about the experience and about taking care of the customer. Sad.....I will not ever again rent from this company.

Calypso cottage at Cannon Beach

The location for Calypso cottage can’t be beat. Beach access, and restaurants are just a few blocks away. The living room is comfortable and cozy. There’s a fireplace and we were promised a starter log, but we did not receive it. The beds are quite comfortable however the first night before sleeping, we looked at them and found sand in the sheets and on one and on the other, there was a pair of Christmas socks, water it up way down by the foot of the bed and the sheets. Made us wonder if the sheets were washed at all, especially when they emphasize that you are not to strip the that’s when you leave. Lastly the bedrooms have these very dense gel pillows that were not comfortable at all. We wished we had brought our own. The kitchen is well appointed and has everything you need however, the plates that we tried to eat off of the first night were covered in dried food, I think the dishwasher maybe doesn’t work very well. I think our overall opinion was that it’s a cute little vacation cottage well located, but really needs to a deep clean and an update as it’s quiet . Two bedrooms, one bathroom, and a nicely stocked kitchen allowed us to cook breakfast, make snacks, reheat leftovers, etc. The living room has a couch and two chairs, a TV (no Roku, so bring yours if you want to stream your shows), and a DVD player with many movies stocked on the bookcase (no “Goonies” DVD, so bring your own to get into the Cannon Beach / Astoria mood). A nice walk to town (several blocks with local bunny viewing in the evenings!) for dinner or out onto the beach. The cottage is north of Ecola Creek, so if it’s not low tide and you want to go to Haystack Rock, the easiest beach access would require you to walk a few blocks and cross the creek via Fir Street before finding a beach access point. It was nice to walk through the very dog-friendly town to go to the market and shops. The Pelican Brewery was incredible and we could have our dogs with us! Calipso Cottage was just what we needed for a lovely week at Cannon Beach!

Cute cottage, needs a deep clean

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Overall, this was a beautiful home and we had a great experience. CBPM called to check in on us and make sure our arrival went well. We were a little disappointed that we didn't have any shampoo upon arrival and needed to go buy some. A little bottle in the shower would have been great. The home had a bit of a musty smell and we had a few centipedes to contend with. The furnace was VERY loud especially when trying to sleep. Frustratingly, the upper loft window faces east and the window covering does a terrible job of filtering out the light. Don't try to sleep too late! Same goes for the bunk room on the main floor. There is no blind on the window and our kiddo was up at sunrise! The inside can use a little more deep cleaning. Some of the dishes were dusty as were the bookshelves and DVDs. All of the personal effects in the home make you feel like you are intruding on someone's personal space. I'd still return. The location is amazing, easily walkable to shopping, food and the beach. Saw lots of elk and other wildlife.
