The property is lovely, with a great layout and a great location. The house is in good overall condition. Super convenient to the beach , ice cream , groceries, pizza etc. Unfortunately the cleanliness left much to be desired, especially considering the cost of the cleaning fee. Floors were sticky and sandy , mirrors and shower doors were dirty , the walls and trim needed a good dusting or wipe down. In the host’s defense, when we mentioned our concern they sent the cleaning crew back out the next day and the worst offenders were taken care of. But you only get one chance to make a first impression. The beds were super uncomfortable and felt like the cheapest mattresses possible on the bed frames, with the thinnest pillows. One bed was missing sheets, but housekeeping brought a set when they came back for the extra cleaning. The bed frame in the main bedroom was loud and squeaky anytime you moved which made it almost impossible to sleep since the mattress was uncomfortable and we tossed and turned a lot. I reported this and asked that maintenance come to tighten up the bed frame, but unfortunately maintenance never came and I ended up buying a screwdriver from the local hardware store and tightening up the bed frame myself. All this said , my family had a lovely time in Oak Island and all of these issues could certainly be resolved, but I’d be hesitant to rent from this company again.

Great family home

This is a great home with plenty of room for the entire family. House has everything you need, and it’s a great location. Short good walk to the beach and stores. Will definitely look at staying here again in the future

Our group of eight adults stayed at Myles’ Sandbox. Based on the 4.75-star rating and previous reviews, we expected a much better experience. While the house was spacious, the location was convenient, and check-in was easy, there were too many shortcomings for us to recommend it.My husband and I own a beach rental in Florida, so we understand what it takes to provide a 5-star guest experience. It’s especially disappointing that several of our concerns have been mentioned in previous reviews and yet they weren’t addressed.Our concerns included:Dirty floors upon arrival (sand, dust, and even toenail clippings—we have photos).Dirty pots and pans.Poorly equipped kitchen: no quality knives, no dish towels, too few wine glasses.Inadequate dining space for 10 guests (only three counter stools and a table for two indoors).Misleading listing: advertised as four queen bedrooms, but two beds were actually full-size (photos available).Worn bedding, thin mattresses, flat/lumpy pillows (one without a pillowcase), and insufficient blankets.Only one towel and washcloth per guest for the entire stay, with no extras.No iron, ironing board, or hairdryer.No mirrors outside the bathrooms, making it difficult for multiple guests to get ready.Insufficient hot water when several people showered before dinner.Outside shower had no showerhead—only a bird’s nest.A roach inside the house.Only three rusty, worn-out beach chairs.Property has great potential but has lots of issues too.

Many of the items you mentioned are things we would have appreciated the opportunity to address during your stay. While we understand these issues ideally should have been identified before your arrival, they were not brought to our attention while you were in the home. Had we known, we would have been happy to deliver additional items, and have our maintenance team address concerns such as the outdoor shower and other maintenance items. Your feedback has been shared with the homeowner and our team so these items can be reviewed for future guests.

The property had everything we needed for a group of 6 adults and one toddler. Liked the location of the house, we could walk to the beach (used wagon to carry all our stuff), to the grocery and beach gear stores, Big Pups Coffee Co trailer in Dairy Queen parking lot (a favorite of the group). Liked the deck in back as it great place to eat. The fenced yard allowed us to let the toddler run free. Would consider staying here again.

Great location. Only reason for the four stars on cleanliness were the big bugs all on the deck at night and had two in the house. Hard to control those so understand. They just gross me out.

The home is nice and great location to walk down to beach. The guest room on main floor needs a new bed frame, very loud when adjusting position. Main living room television broke but was quickly replaced next day after notification. Has an outside shower that I found to be really nice after beach time. Lots of room under the home for stacking beach carts. Nice porch on front and back of home. All appliances, lights, and HVAC worked as expected. I would stay again.

Perfect place for an engagement!!

We absolutely loved this house. Spacious and cozy. Walking distance from everything! Loved the master shower and back deck the most. Our daughter was surprised during family photos with a marriage proposal!! She said yes The only thing worth mentioning is downstairs beds make so much noise that I would wake myself and my husband up by just rolling over. All of the bedrooms could use a full length mirror. We would definitely rent this place again though. Reserve a golf cart before you arrive as they book up fast.

House was the perfect size, close to everything. Only issue was the beach chairs were rusty and old. We flew so didn’t bring our own. Had to buy an umbrella and cooler. So that was disappointing. Otherwise great trip and will be back
