Summary:
Sink a few putts among the agave on your own 4-hole green, high on a Yucca Valley mesa where Botanicals sits on five private acres, paved roads in and Pioneertown just minutes away. Swim in the saltwater pool, take the always-heated eight-person hot tub at dusk, then carry a pillow out to the queen sleeping platform and sleep under the stars. Inside this remodeled, solar-powered house, big windows face the San Gorgonio mountains and local art fills every room. Art inside, sky outside.
The Space:
Botanicals is a recently remodeled, solar-powered home on five private acres on a mesa in Yucca Valley, on paved roads but well away from town. Large windows and sliding glass doors bring in panoramic views of the San Gorgonio mountains and the Joshua Tree valley, while vaulted ceilings with warm wood beams, bold color and works by local artists and ceramicists give the house its personality. A desert garden of cactus, agave and yucca wraps a saltwater pool, a hot tub, a putting green, an outdoor gas fireplace, a fire pit and a queen sleeping platform. With three bedrooms, two with private courtyard entrances, and two bathrooms, it suits families and groups of up to six. Take a pillow out to the sleeping platform and stay the night.

-Outdoor Amenities-
The pool is the center of the garden, a curved saltwater pool lined with loungers and framed by cactus, agave and a tall yucca. Grab a float or a noodle and spend the afternoon in the water, then move to the eight-person hot tub beside it as the sky turns pink. Between swims, putt your way around the 4-hole green, set up a round of bocce ball or stack the jumbo Jenga.
Shaded patios wrap every side of the home, with a hanging chair for reading and lounge seating facing the sunset. Fire up the gas grill for dinner, then gather by the outdoor gas fireplace or the wood-burning fire pit with its spark screen. When it is time for bed, the queen sleeping platform waits in a private courtyard for a night under the stars. The yard is not fully fenced, and you can walk and hike in the neighborhood.
-Living Area-
Warm wood beams cross the vaulted ceiling of the open living room, and large windows and sliders frame the San Gorgonio mountains. Sink into the big blue sectional by the fireplace, put on a playlist through the Sonos sound system or a show on the smart TV, and browse the books, board games and ceramics on the midcentury shelves. High-speed Wi-Fi and central air conditioning keep everything easy.
-Kitchen and Dining-
The renovated kitchen mixes warm wood and blue cabinetry with high-end GE Café appliances, including a gas range, a convection oven with an air fryer, a full-size refrigerator and a wine refrigerator. Make a Nespresso at the coffee station, then pull a sculptural stool up to the colorful island under its globe pendants. Meals move easily to the dining table by the windows, ringed with orange chairs, and the gas grill is just outside. Grocery and meal delivery services serve the home.
-Bedrooms and Bathrooms-
The two main bedrooms each have a private entrance through a courtyard, so you can step out for coffee without crossing the house. One has a bright orange accent wall, a smart TV and a window desk facing the mountains; the other pairs an iron bed with a botanical wall and a reading chair. The third bedroom has a queen bed and doors out to the desert. There are two bathrooms, one with a soaking tub and wood vanity and one with a glass shower, mosaic tile and a vessel sink. Mattresses come with multiple pillow choices, and a Pack 'n Play is available. The outdoor queen sleeping platform offers another place to sleep.
-Surrounding Area-
Joshua Tree National Park and Pioneertown make good outings from Botanicals, both close by on paved roads. With a basic four-wheel-drive vehicle and experience handling it, the remote areas around the home offer desert scenery with fewer crowds than the national park.
