The Space:

This beautifully updated Old Florida beach vacation home is in the popular East End neighborhood and features a casual beach chic vibe. Just a short distance to both the beach and Bay, this tranquil setting among the tall pines will provide your group with the perfect St. George Island getaway. Whether splashing in the surf, searching for shells on miles of award-winning, unspoiled beaches, or exploring the Island on paddleboard or bicycle, there are lots to do before sunset at this Old Florida charmer. Close to local shops, restaurants, nightlife, St. George Lighthouse Museum and playground, fishing pier, and State Park, the best of the Forgotten Coast is within easy reach at Sunsets at Joe's!



The exterior of Sunsets at Joe's features under-house concrete parking, a large fenced backyard, a private outdoor shower, a park-style grill, and a private boardwalk to the street, which is just a short walk from the sparkling Gulf waters. This unique one-story home is raised and you feel as though you are nestled amongst the treetops! As you enter the open living/dining/kitchen area you are greeted by a sense of spaciousness with a high vaulted ceiling and lots of natural light through the windows. The living room offers ample seating as it features two sitting areas with several sofas and comfortable side chairs. The elegant gas fireplace is the living area's centerpiece (not available for guests' use). Entertainment is plentiful as you are provided with a stereo system and large TV (cable/DVD). From the double doors in the living area, you enter the large screened porch where you will find a hammock, comfortable patio seating, and a dining table that comfortably seats six. Back inside, the dining area features a long farm-style table that comfortably seats eight. The well-equipped, upgraded kitchen is a chef's dream as it features an oversized island, double oven, a dishwasher, custom tile backsplash, and ample granite counters. From the kitchen, the chef can oversee all of the communal living/dining areas and be a part of it all. A centrally located laundry area with a full-size washer/dryer offers additional guest convenience. Beach gear credit is included with this home - book a stay and get your choice of kayaks, paddleboards, beach chairs, and more!

Very nice!

We had a great experience at our rental home! It was clean and had everything we needed. Manager was quick to respond to a question we had about beach access. Easy access to everything and the fenced backyard was wonderful to allow our dog to have time outside safely. Great place to stay!

A beautiful property on a lovely island.

Great house, great yard, especially if you have dogs. Beach access is a bit of a trek and was not clear when booking. Well equiped and well maintained property.

Just amazing

Sunset and Joe's was really a great place to stay! It was affordable and very, very nice equipped on the inside. The kitchen is decked out, plenty of towels, and the main living area is huge. We easily could fit all 8 of us on the couch to play board games. 5 minute walk to the beach. Thanks again for the great week!

The house was perfect for our family. The fenced in backyard was a HUGE plus!! The kitchen was well stocked with all utensils and pans you will need for making meals during your stay. I loved that it was on the less populated end of the island. It was just a quick trip to the State Park, which is great for shell hunting first thing in the morning. The screen porch is awesome! Our son (23) took lots of mid afternoon naps in the hammock when we came in from the beach and it was a great place to hang out in the evenings. The fenced back yard is huge! Plenty of room for the dog to run around and get her energy out. I loved all of the gate access and the “hidden” staircase off of the porch was a great bonus. The beach is a 15 minute walk to the nearest public beach access. We rented a couple of bikes and took the gear in the truck and dropped it off, then rode the bike back to the beach. Worked out really well for us. We have always loved coming to St. George. It has never been crowded and this time was no exception, even the week of July 4th. Our only complaint is that now we live 12 hours away, but it’s worth the drive. Sunset at Joe’s was the perfect getaway! Thank you for an unforgettable vacation

A week at the beach!

The advertising is a little deceiving in relation to the location and being close to the beach. It is across the street, but you have to walk a long way to a beach entrance. Otherwise it is a great place, enjoyed it.

Pandemic getaway

We have been coming to St George Island for 40 years and have stayed in many properties but have to say we love Sunset at Joes. We brought our 2 small dogs and the fenced yard without stickers was a huge plus. The house is so large and spacious, clean, and has everything you need in your HomeAway from home. We plan to book our 2021 trip at this property. It does not disappoint 👍🏻🎉

Comfy Home

The house was spacious and the living area was very comfortable. Check in and check out procedures were not very clear, the kitchen was not well equipped for cooking - make sure you bring anything you might need - like salt and pepper! Also, the king size bed mattress was very uncomfortable - very, very soft. The porch is lovely. The home is in a wonderful location, comfortable living space and layout of the home.

Oh Sip, It’s a girls trip!

Overall great stay. Property is represented accurately. We had to call resort properties to figure out where the beach access was located. A map in the house would be helpful. A few more towels without having to request them would be helpful as well as a throw for the couch. We did experience some minor issues, however maintenance was responsive and there was good follow-up by property managers.

Beautiful Lot

This was our second trip to SGI and first stay at Sunset at Joe’s. The lot is beautiful, huge, and fenced in (perfect for our dog). The kitchen space, 2 updated bathrooms and screened in porch were other highlights of the home. Directions to the beach could have been clearer (thank you to a previous review for detailing that out). Once we figured it out, it was a sandy 5 minute walk. Only real con: the master bedroom bed was less than comfortable. Could definitely use a new one. Thank you for sharing your home. Looking forward to coming back again.

Well appointed with super comfortable beds

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The home is large, has a separate bathroom for each bedroom and a nice updated decor and well appointed kitchen (although no condiments or spices - not even salt and pepper). Our only request is that the listing and in home instructions should be more clear on how you access the beach. Do NOT walk between the houses directly across the road as that is private property and there is an environmental impact from tramping on dunes. If you cross the road to walking path and turn right you will find a public access path (not marked) which passes next to a pink house. The walk to the beach was 5-10 min. Once at the beach it was absolutely beautiful, very quiet (although we were early for the season) and for 2 of days we had nice waves which the kids thoroughly enjoyed. This is clearly not beachfront but the price reflects that and also includes a wonderful fenced yard if you have dogs. We are considering returning for another stay.
